MEH... I read good reviews so my wife and I ordered various things on the menu. Flavors were ok but everything was lukewarm to cold. "Crispy wings" were soggy, beef tacos were tough and again soggy. We finally got to La Mesa, and it was worth the drive! Food was so good! Bangsilog and longsilog were delicious, and the portions are very generous. Everything was excellent - the fish, the sausage, the rice, and the tomatoes. Liked that they had a vinegar dip on the side. We also had the fried plantains and potato salad which were both exactly how I like them! Everything was cooked perfectly. We will be back. My mom was born in Honduras so I wanted to get a taste of my childhood as well as introducing the food to my boyfriend. All the Honduran dishes were so good from the baleada to the pupusas, but what impressed me and my boyfriend most was the Filipino and Spanish food like the General Tso's wings for him, and the arepas and pork belly tacos for both of us. So in Massapequa we don't have many good food places. A lot of stuff that's prepped and doesn't taste fresh all the time. This place is like grandmas cooking at home. Spanish style hot counter place, but with amazing decor. I've never seen one as nice as this before. Besides being super clean and well decorated the food is amazing. I only bought food from the hot counter. I never had a Spanish chicken stew so good. The carrots were amazing as well as the yellow rice. Great steak and onions and great ribs. Best part with all these amazing amenities and food the cost for all that stuff was $42. So you can add affordable to the aforementioned greatness!! read more

Stopped in for a meal because it was recommended by the dealership I was selling my car to. It did not disappoint! Covid aside, this establishment was CLEAN, food looked fresh, bathroom was tidy, and the gentleman assisting us was helpful and courteous. I used to work in several restaurants so I really dislike complaining BUT I found the dish I ordered to be too spicy for my sensitive palate. He handled it so well, replaced my plate entirely and without hesitation. All while having a line of guests waiting to order. The food was fresh & tasty but the way he handled my complaint was admirable and that keeps a repeat customer for sure!!! read more

My family and I came here one night hoping for a nice atmosphere and good food. We were NOT disappointed! The food here is amazing. It is delicious and authentic. We got 3 large meals, arepas, pupusas, and 4 drinks for 36 dollars! I am recommending to all of my friends! I was a little hesitant before walking in because it doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is gorgeous, welcoming, and sophisticated. The service is excellent. Everything was served with a smile on the server's face. There is limited seating, so get there early! In short: excellent food, great service, great atmosphere, and low prices. What's not to love? Keep coming back so I have to mention they serve the best nachos I have ever had. My son had them one day as part of his meal and over ordered. He microwaved it twice later on and it made the house smell so good (I would never micro nachos!). After the first time, I stole a cold chip out of the fridge and knew I had to go back and get my own. Got back today and split an order with hubby. It was out of this world. As great as everything else is, (the tamales are "oh my God") the nachos are the best thing. The pupusas are another fave. The food is good. But make sure you order at least a hour in advance. They dont pick up the phone for call in orders. Anything in store takes minimum 1 hour and anything you order online takes at least 3x the amount of time its stated originally. read more

I've ordered take out twice from La Mesa. First time I ordered fish tacos and an empanada and it was a hit. The fish was fresh and the sauce they put on the taco was great. The second time around I ordered their steak tacos and it was a huge miss. The steak was very fatty, the type of fat that you can't chew thru and have to spit out. I'm at 50/50 right now, but I'm giving this place 4 stars because I feel I have to give them another chance and I'm hoping the steak tacos were just a bad fluke. I'll be updating the review, this time I'm going to get one of their other dishes and hope for the best read more

This was my 4th visit and 3rd time ordering the same pernil platter. The first time I ordered it, I loved it and told many people about it. The second time, it was just as good, but fit was missing pico de gallo. This time I ordered it and it was missing plantains, but sadly that wasn't all. The pernil had no flavor, the beans were terrible and the pico de gallo tasted just like undressed tomatoes. As I forced myself to eat it, I got up in the middle and called the restaurant because I had to understand what went wrong. The first person I spoke to I guess put me on with a manager or the owner. He didn't introduce himself and asked what I wanted. I relayed my experience and was told the recipe and chefs didn't change and nothing is different. He told me my meal was cold because I came late to pick it up. It was picked up the exact time Yelp provided at the beginning part of the 20-30m range of when it would be ready. The attitude of this person, lack of any regret/apology has ensured I will not return. I have already told some of the people I referred there and will mention it to the person who referred me. I wasn't asking for my money back. All the guy had to do was apologize for what happened and maybe offer to make it right for next time. If he had, I would have given them another chance. read more

Great selection of entrees and sides. Very friendly staff. Modern and clean. Portions were generous. Had pernil, oxtail, chicharons and yellow rice. Got the 'small' portions and was enough to feed 4...next time maybe i would get a little more rice. All were excellent and the bill was very reasonable. read more
