There may be some of you that read that and think, "Ew. Tongue?" When done right, lengua is so tender and flavorful and Maya Mexican does it right. They also have the best guacamole (it's so fresh and amazing) and tortas. I usually get the birria torta. The soup is divine and possibly a spiritual experience when consuming. Definitely order from here. I've never eaten at the restaurant but maybe I should. I can't imagine how much more amazing it would be if I ate it fresh out of the kitchen!

There is street parking so if you wait around long enough, you'll be able to get a spot. We had the birria tacos, al pastor, and lengua. We originally wanted to try the oreja and campechanos but they didn't have it that day. These are probably the best quesabirria tacos I've had in the area. I'm normally not a huge fan because it usually ends up being soggy, and I don't really like braised meat, as it tends to be dry. That wasn't the case here. The tacos were still crispy 20 minutes later, and the meat wasn't dry. It was stuffed to the max with beef and cheese. The broth was also very good and not watery like most other places tend to be. The al pastor tacos and lengua tacos were also very good. They're a bit smaller than similar taco spots in the neighborhood but it's quality over quantity here. If they added fresh pineapple to the pastor, it would have brought the taco over the top. I also enjoyed their homemade (sauces). They have a kick to it but be careful with the dark chipotle looking one. One drop of that, and you'll be good. Will definitely be back for some more tacos. Hopefully next time, they'll have the oreja and campechano.

I decided to go on a foodie adventure to find some birria tacos. I came across this place in the heart of Elizabeth. 10 minutes away from the mall. The place is small but you can sit and eat your food there. I wanted the whole experience , so I did just that lol. Place looked clean, person at the counter greeted me and was nice. I went on a Wednesday afternoon. There was just one person sitting there eating. I ordered my Birria Tacos and waited patiently lol. I was so excited to try these. When the food was brought to the table, I thought how beautiful and yummy does this look... (pictures below) The tacos were absolutely delicious. They give u 4. Most places give 3 , so that's a plus right there lol. I personally love the amount of cilantro and onions that were on top of the tacos. The meat was so tender and flavorful. The consume.. just makes it that much better. It was definitely a mouthgasm moment lol! Going back most likely on the weekend!! Definitely recommend this spot. I always love supporting small businesses like this one. Things to know.. -You have to park in the street. Pay the meter. (I went during the week, not sure about the weekend and if you have to pay the meter ) -They take Apple Pay and cards -I paid $20, W/tip included (although it's optional) & a drink. Not too bad specially when the food is worth every penny. -Good options as far as food and drinks. (Not only birria tacos ) - They sell desserts as well. In the fridge by the drinks! Enjoy!!

I was too trusting. Ordered a chicken burrito bowl with added mozzarella cheese (+$2.99 my choice) and an al pastor taco. Sour cream is listed as an ingredient in the bowl and for me, burritos feel incomplete without sour cream. I actually would not have ordered it. There was NO sour cream and a tiny sprinkle of cheese. The pulled pork was terrible. I spit it out and tossed it. And too salty (I then remembered it was last time also). I also got 4 added sad little 4 avocado slices. The overdone soggy rice made it a little less dry though. Pico de gallo was mostly onions. I CALLED the restaurant. (It was through Grubhub) and they said "yea we don't have sour cream. Sorry." But it's on your menu "yea we don't have any right now" in a really fake apologetic tone not offering any solution. A customer should be contacted if an ingredient is missing and maybe comped the cheese, or at least add extra to compensate. Did they think I would not notice?" Grub Hub chat said I'd get a refund. So we'll see. SUMMARY: Skip this place. They need to tone down the salt and attitude. Low quality pulled pork.

My friend and I went at a normal time, and the place wasn't even busy. We originally ordered tacos and chaufa, but they brought us the wrong food. We told the server, and she said she'd go find the woman who took our order, but she never came back. After waiting about 20 minutes, we told another employee, and she also disappeared. Eventually someone finally came back and apologized, saying they were busy -- which would've been understandable, except the restaurant really wasn't crowded at all. At that point, we were tired of waiting and just ate the food they gave us. But paying $18 for 3 basic tacos is honestly ridiculous. Their solution was basically, "We can make the correct order, but it'll take even longer." Then they automatically added an 18% gratuity for just two people, even though the service was far from good. Overall, the food was very basic, the service was frustrating, and the whole experience just wasn't worth it. I wouldn't recommend this place.

The truck was the nicest on this "Food Truck Block". Everything was amazing & with all fresh ingredients. The tacos ( chicken, or beef, or chorizo), Quesobirrias ( cheesy tacos with a beef broth dipping sauce), and Mulitas ( taco ingredients place between 2 tortillas and fried. All 3 were crispy and perfect. Best tacos ever!!! All the add-ons were extremely fresh too: spicy pickled onions, shopped raw onions, cilantro, spicy creamy pepper sauce. So after this "taste test" on a Sunday morning, we decided to hire Viva Birria NJ for a backyard party we were having in May. Part II: The Party Tent...So, they set up a tent in the driveway. Donovan and his assistant were awesome! Totally prepared; super friendly; The food smelled and tasted so good. Everyone loved it. We had tacos & queso birria tacos and also added Mexican Street Corn ( in a cup). They grilled all the fresh corn, seasoned it, shaved it off the cob and had a big hot pot of it to make individual portions in cups. Plenty of fresh queso fresca was there to use as well. Best of all, Donovan gave us everything that wasn't eaten so we had plenty of tacos for days! I highly recommend you visit the food truck in Passaic, or think outside the box for your next house party. It was the easiest part of setting up this outside party. Bravo Viva Birria -NJ!!! The unique thing about all the food I ordered today--at least from what I could taste--is that they cook with lard, which gives it a completely different and authentic flavor compared to other Mexican food in the area. The bowl had plenty of meat (enough for two people), Mexican rice, pinto beans, avocado, sour cream, pico de gallo, lettuce and guacamole. Everything was delicious. Personally, I prefer ordering this type of dish and making the tacos at home because when you order tacos to-go, they can arrive a bit soggy and the tortillas might break. For dessert, I ordered a delicious Tres leches cake; you could tell it was freshly made today, and it was amazing. All the ingredients in the steak dish were fresh, high quality, and very tasty. The prices are great and super fair, and the portion sizes are more than generous. I will definitely order from this place again. Congratulations to all the staff involved in this restaurant! Blessings.

I was blown away by how good their tacos were and knew i had to go back to their main location to see what's the word in flavortown. Tacos Al Pastor (9.4/10) - HOLY SHITTTT. This is arguably one of the best al pastor tacos i've had in my life (like top 10). The meat was reallyy juicy, the flavors were seeping out of that marinated meat. The pineapples were really well paired, cooked in a way that went beautifully with the pork. The tortilla, which happened to be different from the last time i got them, was still solidd. Overall all together this taco was formed elegantly and was so good i didn't even consider the sauces at first. (the sauces were buss af tho don't get me wrong). Birria Pizza (8.4/10) - The first time I got this pizza pizza, it came with a cute little mexican flag in the center. I was a little sad that it did not come with it this time :( The box came with a lovely abundant amount of limes, radishes, and cucumbers. It was all in a little baggie, I only wish the cucumbers were separated, they tasted sour because of the limes. The pizza was cut in 8 fairly sized slices, and did not hold back on the meats, but was just a little light on the cheese for my liking (I like cheese a lot). The tortllla was pretty decent and held its weight, I wish it had a little more of a bite to it, but that might just be on me for ordering a little too early (10 minutos). The meat was pretty good, nothing too crazy and about what i expect from eating birria meats. The cheese, although not plentiful, still was good and i love me some cheese (a cheese pull would've been so buss istg). These ingredients alone made for a fairly good experience, BUT what really brought it to the next level was the combination of each slice with a healthy fixing of radishes, lime juice, consome, and green sauce specifically. Consome (8.5/10) - For sure one of the better consomes i've had, it gave a very much needed moisture to the pizza pizza. They were so kind to give us not one but DOS CONSOMES CTM. The soup itself had its own great level of flavor, just the right amount of oiliness, meatiness, saltiness, and love. I was so happy to find that there was meat in the bottom of the cup, which slurped up oh so nice in my mouth ;) You know that shit when you could drink it by itself and not feel like your mouth is covered in salt crystals. Green sauce (7.6/10) - When you're used to green salsas being heavy on flavor and lighter on potency, it throws you off when you get a green sauce that flips the script! This sauce was still good and paired well with the tacos and even better with the pizza. On its own though you don't taste the typical green flavor immediately, you are met some spice at first ironically enough. Still a good sauce overall but I can definitely see it being better. Red Sauce (5.1/10) - Honestly I kinda tasted this one and put it away, I didn't really notice the flavors of it with or without the food, and only got a higher taste of spice than the green sauce. But also less flavor than the green one weirdly enough. (Esto si que es). Nopale (6/10) - The flavor was mild but alright, it had a nice crunch to it though. It didn't really pair with the tacos in my humble opinion, but i could see it pairing nicely with other dishes that have a rice and bean base. Green onion (7/10) - found it in my al pastor box, it was good, enough said. Overall in total I enjoyed my experience here once again, I would like to point out that the red sauce was different from the last times i've gotten, which was disappointing to find out because that og was fucking buss. But it did not take away from this meal, i enjoyed the tacos and pizza pizza a lot. The people are very generous with their serving sizes, additives, and maybe attitudes (we didn't really talk to the workers). I will be coming back for sure, next time i'm gonna try the burritos and get to the bottom of why people keep shitting on it, it's got me curious i gotta be deadass flavortown. Overall Experience (8.7/10)
