Went during happy hour and it was so worth it. We had the coconut and passion fruit mojitos. We got the ceviche de Camarones which tasted so fresh! Ordered the mini tacos which had chicken in it and they were tasty. My other half got the birria queso quesadilla and it was also delicious. Rosalia was an awesome server. She was so friendly and attentive. The menu is on an iPad which was easy to navigate and check out prices. Festive decor inside with lots of photo ops. Good music playing.

Not sure why the ratings and reviews are so low. I love the decor! Dark glow in the dark , beautiful bright colors, and Mexican decorations everywhere. Our server was the perfect amount of being attentive but also letting us enjoy our food/company. You will definitely be leaving full....I had to take home leftovers( I almost never do that!). They use fresh ingredients and it makes the prices justified as a result. Ill be back 100%.

This is the 2nd La Fortaleza I have visited. The ceilings were low, but they made up for it by covering it with artwork. Art was everywhere- on the walls and the chairs. We ate in the VW Bus. Very photogenic Our waitress was kind, but very busy. She did her best to accommodate us. I don't know what she might have done in the kitchen, but she was our hostess, waitress and bartender. The food was OUTSTANDING. My only disappointment was that they did not have the guacamole trio that was served in the skulls. In addition to guacamole and sour cream, I enjoyed 4 different "salsas:" ranchero, habanero, jalapeño and chipotle. There is a store that offers souvenirs but it was not open during our visit. There was a private parking lot and even valet who must have only been available at dinner time. What I guess might also be available at dinner time was the "professional" photographer who later offered frames souvenirs of the dining experience. ‍

I celebrated my 30th birthday here with my family, It was LITTY MCGRITTY, burrito and tacos were amazing, the guac was great, the service was great... A mariachi band sang happy birthday to me, I would say the only thing missing was Peso Pluma performing a full blown concert... This is 30.

I was here a month ago, so forgive me, I actually don't remember much about the food from this experience. I had birria tacos though and I think as long as I'm still able to write this, they must be doing something right. However, we celebrated a friends birthday here and had the collection of dessert pictured and I thought this was cool and great! I haven't really stopped thinking about it! They gave us a little hammer to crack the skull with and gave the party a selection of tres leches cake, churros, and ice cream! I would probably come back for a friend's birthday just for this haha

Located right off of Route 46 East, this mecca of a Mexican restaurant will make you think you've entered a fun house. The glaring colors, loud music and spacious dining room are the perfect place for a party dinner, albeit you probably won't be able to do much talking though with the boomboxes going. Luckily for me, I came here for takeout so I was able to go in and come back out in a matter of minutes. No eardrum protection or blowhorn needed. However, if you are going to dine here, just beware of what you're getting into. We've done takeout at 2 other La Fortalezas before and, like all of the La Fortaleza restaurants, this one was really no different - a very vibrant interior with a diverse menu of Mexican staples. Also, a pretty big bar can be found inside too. For our takeout meal, we went with: - Chicken Enchiladas with Yellow Rice and Frijoles Charros (Sausage Bacon Ham Beans) and Maduros (Sweet Plantains) - Mole Poblano with Yellow Rice and Frijoles Charros (Sausage Bacon Ham Beans) - Tacos - Chorizo and Carnitas The other times we ordered from the other locations, the food was pretty solid, but the food at this location was underwhelming. Shockingly, it was not very flavorful and just about everything was lacking salt. The Enchiladas were bland and so was the side of Frijoles Charros. The Enchiladas were literally just tortillas with dry chicken breast inside, cheese on top and lots of lettuce. Not much sauce. The Mole Poblano was extremely disappointing. All of that sauce and just no flavor again. I've had Mole Poblano many times at other restaurants and this might have been the worst Mole Poblano I ever had. The sauce was really flavorless. The tacos were also blah, especially the Chorizo. Chorizo is typically our favorite taco at restaurants because many restaurants use ground sausage with lots of sauce on it, but La Fortaleza uses cut up sausage, so it was pretty dry. Like I said, we loveeeed the food at other locations, but, for some reason, the food here was so off. Rarely will you find takeout food that is flavorless. Maybe the flavor is not great tasting or it's overly salty, but there is no reason food from a restaurant should taste like you're drinking water. I wanted to love the food, but all 3 dishes were ordered were consistent. Maybe I'll give them another crack, but it's hard to when my entire order was tasteless.

Came here during a brunch hour for a friend's birthday. The aesthetic was absolutely gorgeous! This was impressive and I fell in love at first sight with the aesthetic. We ordered drinks which were strong and flavorful. We also ordered the sampler appetizer which was decently priced and extremely delicious. The only complaint with the sampler appetizer is that the chicken flauta specifically could have had a bit more flavor. We ordered our entrees which were a little on the pricy side. A steak dish that I can get at another restaurant for less costs 55 at this restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious I had no complaints about our entrees. The service is the reason that I am giving this review 3 stars. Our host did not come to check on our table at all. We couldn't ask for refills on our drinks or for utensils or anything else. They were no where to be found for over 30 minutes. It was not busy at the hour that we had all went so I was perplexed as to why the service was this slow. Overall I enjoyed my time I just wish the service was more attentive.

This location is located on Route 46. The entrance is easy to miss and is right after the Outwater overpass but before the light. It is valet only, so finding parking wasn't an issue. I've been to this location a couple times and I enjoy the atmosphere. It is noisy, so if you're looking for a quiet dinner, this is not the spot. In the past, we've had drink orders that either have come out really late into the meal, are incorrect, or did not come out at all. The most recent visit, only 1 of 8 drinks was incorrect, so that was great! For appetizers, we usually order the Guacamole and Calamar Costeño. Great choices, can't go wrong with either one. For my main entrée, I ordered the Birria Tacos. Taste is great every single time! Took off 1 star because I don't appreciate the people walking around trying to sell us things while we are eating our meals (e.g. pictures, flowers, etc.). I would recommend if you're in the area!

The Sirloin was cooked exactly as I requested--well-done but still very juicy and flavorful. Everything tasted like a traditional Mexican home-cooked meal, though the green enchilada had a fantastic Tex-Mex vibe that really stood out. Even the rice and beans were wonderful. To top it off, the staff was so helpful and kind when I called in the order. I'm definitely a returning customer now!

Returned to Rumba Cubana to enjoy their Sunday brunch menu…read more The restaurant was full of happy patrons and I always appreciate the nostalgic music adding to everyone's enjoyment. We started with a Bloody Mary and one of my favorites, Coconut Mojito. Rumba's Bartenders always create amazing libations and these two followed suit. The entrees were: Picadillo Jinetero (Cuban-style ground beef hash, served "a caballo" (on horseback) with two fried eggs and ripe plantains. It is a savory-sweet dish made with seasoned ground beef, sofrito, tomatoes, olives, capers, raisins, and Moro Rice). I enjoyed this dish, VERY MUCH. The ground beef was perfectly seasoned, I prefer the delectable dry Moro Rice, and those sweet plantains are divine. The other selection was the Tostones Montaditos (Fried green pressed plantains topped with Churrasco-Skirt Steak). Even though this is an appetizer, it is large enough to be a meal. Try it. I appreciated the attentive and cordial service from our Server, Eduardo. I placed a to-go order and not only was it securely packed, but Rumba also included another free appetizer coupon to the bag.

I've visited multiple locations over the past few years and I've never been disappointed! They don't miss! No matter which spot I go to, the quality of the food, the warm service, and the lively ambiance are consistently amazing. We visited the Rochelle Park location on a Saturday night. It's right on Rt17 with a large parking lot, but it was packed when we arrived. There was a line of cars backed into the highway waiting for valet service. It's complimentary, so tip as you please. I honestly don't like to valet my car...... especially when I could easily park it myself right there LOL. But we didn't have a choice. *shrug* As always, Rumba's vibrant atmosphere didn't disappoint. You can feel the energy as soon as you walk in! The upbeat Latin music will have you swaying, I promise ;) The interior beautifully captures the culture and history of Cuba with colorful artwork, tropical plants, rattan pendant lamps, and large murals of Havana. It has a touch of elegance without feeling too upscale, so this restaurant is perfect for casual dining and special occasions like celebrations or date nights. We didn't have reservations and had to wait around 15 minutes for a table for two. No biggie - we sipped at the bar until our table was ready! The menu offers traditional Cuban dishes like ropa vieja, vaca frita, and bistec de palomilla along with a variety of tapas, mofongos, sandwiches, and sides. I ordered: *Taino Cocktail [El Jimador Reposado Cristalino, Ancho Reyes Verde, Tamarindo Pure, Agave Syrup, Fresh Lime Juice] ($14.95) - Oooo this was a sweet & spicy mix with a strong tequila finish! It's like a spicy margarita with a tropical twist. *Caribbean Punch Cocktail [Tanduay White Rum, Tanduay Gold Rum, Plantation Overproof Rum, Lime Juice, Guava, Orange, Pineapple Juice, Grenadine] ($13.95) - This drink was screaming my name! It's fruity, refreshing, and makes you feel like you're on an island. I just wish it had a liiiiiiitle more rum for a stronger punch, and that the glass wasn't filled with so much ice. *Ropa Vieja [shredded beef stewed in a sauce made with tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, garlic, cumin, olives, and sherry wine] ($15.95) - Cuba's national dish! The tomato-based sauce was perfectly seasoned and the beef was sooo tender... melt-in-your-mouth type of tender! My tummy was happy, but I wish the portion size was bigger! I paired it with a side order of tostones (fried plantains) and arroz blanco (white rice) with frijoles negros (black beans). The fluffy rice soaked up the rich sauces of the black beans & ropa vieja, so every bite was savory heaven~ The tostones were sliced, deep fried, and smashed to perfection. Crispy tostones + garlic mojo sauce = a perfect pairing. I could eat these all day! The only thing that's really missing here is...Can you guess? A DANCE FLOOR. Once they make room for that, y'all know where to find me. I'll be at the bar for drinks first and then dancing later! Need to satisfy your Cuban cravings? Look no further. Put some rumba in your step and head over here!

I was blown away by how good their tacos were and knew i had to go back to their main location to see what's the word in flavortown. Tacos Al Pastor (9.4/10) - HOLY SHITTTT. This is arguably one of the best al pastor tacos i've had in my life (like top 10). The meat was reallyy juicy, the flavors were seeping out of that marinated meat. The pineapples were really well paired, cooked in a way that went beautifully with the pork. The tortilla, which happened to be different from the last time i got them, was still solidd. Overall all together this taco was formed elegantly and was so good i didn't even consider the sauces at first. (the sauces were buss af tho don't get me wrong). Birria Pizza (8.4/10) - The first time I got this pizza pizza, it came with a cute little mexican flag in the center. I was a little sad that it did not come with it this time :( The box came with a lovely abundant amount of limes, radishes, and cucumbers. It was all in a little baggie, I only wish the cucumbers were separated, they tasted sour because of the limes. The pizza was cut in 8 fairly sized slices, and did not hold back on the meats, but was just a little light on the cheese for my liking (I like cheese a lot). The tortllla was pretty decent and held its weight, I wish it had a little more of a bite to it, but that might just be on me for ordering a little too early (10 minutos). The meat was pretty good, nothing too crazy and about what i expect from eating birria meats. The cheese, although not plentiful, still was good and i love me some cheese (a cheese pull would've been so buss istg). These ingredients alone made for a fairly good experience, BUT what really brought it to the next level was the combination of each slice with a healthy fixing of radishes, lime juice, consome, and green sauce specifically. Consome (8.5/10) - For sure one of the better consomes i've had, it gave a very much needed moisture to the pizza pizza. They were so kind to give us not one but DOS CONSOMES CTM. The soup itself had its own great level of flavor, just the right amount of oiliness, meatiness, saltiness, and love. I was so happy to find that there was meat in the bottom of the cup, which slurped up oh so nice in my mouth ;) You know that shit when you could drink it by itself and not feel like your mouth is covered in salt crystals. Green sauce (7.6/10) - When you're used to green salsas being heavy on flavor and lighter on potency, it throws you off when you get a green sauce that flips the script! This sauce was still good and paired well with the tacos and even better with the pizza. On its own though you don't taste the typical green flavor immediately, you are met some spice at first ironically enough. Still a good sauce overall but I can definitely see it being better. Red Sauce (5.1/10) - Honestly I kinda tasted this one and put it away, I didn't really notice the flavors of it with or without the food, and only got a higher taste of spice than the green sauce. But also less flavor than the green one weirdly enough. (Esto si que es). Nopale (6/10) - The flavor was mild but alright, it had a nice crunch to it though. It didn't really pair with the tacos in my humble opinion, but i could see it pairing nicely with other dishes that have a rice and bean base. Green onion (7/10) - found it in my al pastor box, it was good, enough said. Overall in total I enjoyed my experience here once again, I would like to point out that the red sauce was different from the last times i've gotten, which was disappointing to find out because that og was fucking buss. But it did not take away from this meal, i enjoyed the tacos and pizza pizza a lot. The people are very generous with their serving sizes, additives, and maybe attitudes (we didn't really talk to the workers). I will be coming back for sure, next time i'm gonna try the burritos and get to the bottom of why people keep shitting on it, it's got me curious i gotta be deadass flavortown. Overall Experience (8.7/10)

Service has been nothing but kind, helpful, and attentive every time we've gone. On our last visit, we were jonesing for happy hour and asked for the drink menu, only to discover they don't serve alcohol but they're BYOB. "And there's a wine and liquor store only two blocks away," our smiling server whispered conspiratorially. It was a genius idea. While we waited on our order, my husband jetted out for a 6-pack of Modelos and got back just as our chicken salad was being set down on the table. We asked for it to be timed as an appetizer, and I'd say the serving size might be closer to an appetizer than an entree. But the chicken pieces were well-marinated and delicious, making the salad a meaty entry point into our shared steak fajitas. These fajitas are a winner winner chicken - er, steak - dinner. Since we got it done medium well (my preferred doneness - feel free to judge me for it), I was worried about the steak being tough but these were tender enough for both my husband and I to emit a simultaneous "wow" at first bites. The sauce on them was also incredible, so much that we asked our server about it when he checked on us mid-meal. He crossed his heart and demurred, "It's a secret, so I can't really tell you," but when we pressed for more information, he admitted the main base was "lots of tomatoes". Well, whatever's in that magic sauce was good enough for us to drag our spoons against the near-empty fajita plate, trying to get every last drop of it. My husband and I have visited twice now, and our order has ranged from good to excellent (with those steak fajitas being the high winner thus far). There are a few parking spots in the front lot but being that this is in a quiet, residential area, there's plenty of parking to be found on the side streets if necessary.
