Al pastor tacos
Mareena P.

Happy to stop by this place while we were in the area! Bery colorful and fun interior! This place is relatively cheap, quick and great for a good bite. I would recommend getting the Burria tacos- they seem to be the most popular dish ordered here per the waiter and it did not disappoint. The Al pastor tacos were just OK- definitely wouldn't get them again if I came back. I also liked that they had an area stocked with lemon slices, hot sauces and condiments we can just get up and grab without waiting for the waiter!

Pollo Burrito Bowl

This is a casual, small, quick, and cheap option for Mexican food (dine in or take out). The food was just okay. We tried a burrito bowl and burrito (both with chicken) and they were pretty similar. The chicken did not take like it was very fresh and was heavily over salted. The bowl was swimming in watery lettuce which made every bite taste like it was mixed with water. Service was friendly and helpful. If you are in the area and want to quickly grab a burrito this may be an okay option but don't expect an outstanding meal.

Quesa birria tacos

Happy to finally have a decent taco place nearby that has everything I want. Many flavors of tacos including birria, burritos, great desserts, horchata and more. The sauce/veggie bar is a nice touch. Ordered food on their website and picked it up inside. Parking is easy and it's a pretty spacious restaurant. They made sure to give us lots of extra sauce and included veggies from the sauce bar too. I ordered the quesa birria tacos, which were very good. I ended up drinking all of the consomme. I had a bite of the delicious and hefty burrito. The regular tacos looked really good too, which I need to go back and try. All of the desserts were excellent - tres leches, flan, and strawberry churros. My favorite is always flan with tres leches close 2nd. Enjoyed the horchata too. Portions are very generous and prices aren't bad either. Definitely will be returning for more.

Campechano California burrito

I was looking to pick up some Mexican food for lunch at a place where burritos did not cost $17+. That's when my search landed me on Taqueria D&K. I called to order for pick up on a Saturday at around 12:30 and was quoted a 20 minute wait time. I ordered two California burritos - one with al pastor, one campechano, and and order of quesabirria tacos. I liked that they ask you if you want red or green sauce inside the burritos. You also get to choose if you want pineapples with your al pastor (get them). The al pastor burrito was probably my favorite of the bunch. It is well-filled and well-wrapped. The ingredients are distributed evenly, all the way to the ends of the burrito. So you won't have one bite that's just beans and rice, and another with just meat. It may be the best burrito I've had in a while and for $12?! That is a steal! I didn't like the campechano as much because there was some spice in there that was a little too overpowering (cinnamon?). Quesabirria tacos were also only okay but I don't like the beef in birria tacos in general because it's usually dry and bland, but I love the cheese, griddled tortilla, and consommé part. I wish they could somehow make the al pastor into quesabirria. Or maybe next time, I'll just order a quesadilla and get a side of the consommé. Will definitely be back to try some tacos and some of their other menu items. I'm hoping this will be me go to Mexican takeout spot.

Had lunch here on a Sunday, it was empty when we got in. We just wanted to pick up some tacos and sit by the window and have a quick meal. The 2 ladies working by the counter had difficulty communicating with us in English and eventually made us sit at a table. My bf and I ordered the carnitas and birria tacos. The tacos were fine, not great. The scallion vegetables were way too big. They give you free chips when you sit. We didn't want to be served but ended up getting table service and paying tip.

Love this place for Street Tacos, their food is always fresh and I the side of cucumbers and radishes they give you to stuff into your tacos is a must. The restaurant is clean the staff is friendly and the service is always quick.

It fits in one hand now!

They use to be great, But after ordering only 6 beef burritos like I do every other week or so. sometime even twice a week. Either way the burritos used to take two hand to hold and food came dripping out. Now I gotten a burrito half the size!? Inflation is high I know but this is just sad! Good luck staying in business with that BS!

The most authentic mexican food! Made to order, always fresh and piping hot! Staff is super friendly. Colorful decor creates for a beautiful dining experience. The sauce bar is a nice touch to personalize your meal! Desserts are top notch as well!

This place was surprisingly good ! The quesadilla Al Pastor had amazing flavor and authentic oaxaca cheese. The campechano tacos(beef & Chorizo) were firee. They give you also sauteed nopales and grilled green onion for extra flavor... not many places do this. Green sauce also was thick and had a great flavor. Everything was FRESH They have a Al Pastor Pizza which Im gonna get one day. The man back there cooking does a great job with the food. The girl in the front is also very pleasant and cute. 10/10 one thing about this place the good is gonna smack ! highly recommend --- Este lugar me sorprendió de lo bueno que es.

Tucked away in the corner of an obscure strip mall adjacent to a Dunkin' where many businesses have opened and closed after short stints, Taqueria D&K is a business that does NOT deserve to suffer that same fate. This particular storefront has been home to a gyro shop and multiple other types of eateries over the past 5 years (including different pizzerias), but they have not lasted very long at all. After seeing an ad in a local mailer, I decided to give it a try and it was WELL worth the price for the quality, value and taste. Got two burritos (steak and spicy pork) for myself and a chicken quesadilla for my son. He was pleased with the quesadilla, but after taking a sizable bite of each of my burritos -- He and I both decided they were the stars of the show. The flavor of the burritos REALLY popped, and the meat on both was tender and delicious. The woman at the counter was very pleasant and helpful about the menu, but didn't know about Yelp. I didn't know until now that anyone can set up a business on Yelp, so I am happy to (try to) help them get started here. Check their hours before going because I just noticed (while gathering the info to do this) that they are closed on Mondays. I look forward to returning, also trying some of their other menu items (psyched that they have nopales!), and will post pictures of those meals as well. I know the saying "location, location, location", and how important that IS to a business, and this location is historically not the best by far. But hopefully people will have experiences as satisfying as mine was (they were fairly busy the night I went), and they can turn the tide on this particular address. BEST OF LUCK!

"Perfect for sharing!"…read more We had a great delivery experience yesterday! We shared the "Bistec a la Tampiquena" plate, and it was plenty for two people. The Sirloin was cooked exactly as I requested--well-done but still very juicy and flavorful. Everything tasted like a traditional Mexican home-cooked meal, though the green enchilada had a fantastic Tex-Mex vibe that really stood out. Even the rice and beans were wonderful. To top it off, the staff was so helpful and kind when I called in the order. I'm definitely a returning customer now!

THE GOOD ----------------…read more+ Alllllll of the food was EXCELLENT and FRESH!!! ++++ Complimentary Tortilla Chips and Salsa - Pretty good for free chips and salsa, especially the salsa, which wasn't watery, like other restaurants. ++++ Parrilla Mixta - Sizzzzzling platter of skirt steak, shrimp, chorizo, chicken and fajita veggies smelled sooooo freakin' good ... and, of course, allll of it was phenomenal. Came with a side of delicious yellow rice and refried beans. ++++ Pancho Villa Platter - Neatly arranged skirt steak, 2 flautas and a salmon tostada on a bed of plain salad. Loved this as well. Everything in here was flavorful and delicious (minus the plain salad). This also came with a side of yellow rice and refried beans. ++++ Chicken Quesadilla - Huge and solid quesadilla. Our kids gobbled this up. ++++ Mango Lemonade and Strawberry Lemonade were refreshing. + Decent size restaurant with 9 tables that can each seat 4 guests. Each table is nicely spaced out. + Authentic atmosphere with Mexican music playing, but not too loud, and Mexican art on the walls. + Service was fantastic all evening for our meal. ++++ Friendly waiters. Accommodated all of our requests. ++++ Food came out very quickly. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Unfortunately, parking can be tough on the block because you can only park across the street, so you'll probably have to look around the corners of the block. - Automatic 20% gratuity on all bills. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Came here on a Saturday evening from 6-7:30 PM. Was relatively quiet when we arrived, but soon became pretty busy, to the point no tables were available.

Returned to Rumba Cubana to enjoy their Sunday brunch menu…read more The restaurant was full of happy patrons and I always appreciate the nostalgic music adding to everyone's enjoyment. We started with a Bloody Mary and one of my favorites, Coconut Mojito. Rumba's Bartenders always create amazing libations and these two followed suit. The entrees were: Picadillo Jinetero (Cuban-style ground beef hash, served "a caballo" (on horseback) with two fried eggs and ripe plantains. It is a savory-sweet dish made with seasoned ground beef, sofrito, tomatoes, olives, capers, raisins, and Moro Rice). I enjoyed this dish, VERY MUCH. The ground beef was perfectly seasoned, I prefer the delectable dry Moro Rice, and those sweet plantains are divine. The other selection was the Tostones Montaditos (Fried green pressed plantains topped with Churrasco-Skirt Steak). Even though this is an appetizer, it is large enough to be a meal. Try it. I appreciated the attentive and cordial service from our Server, Eduardo. I placed a to-go order and not only was it securely packed, but Rumba also included another free appetizer coupon to the bag.

Rum in my cup, rumba in my step~…read more I'm no stranger to Rumba Cubana... It's my favorite Cuban restaurant group in New Jersey. I've visited multiple locations over the past few years and I've never been disappointed! They don't miss! No matter which spot I go to, the quality of the food, the warm service, and the lively ambiance are consistently amazing. We visited the Rochelle Park location on a Saturday night. It's right on Rt17 with a large parking lot, but it was packed when we arrived. There was a line of cars backed into the highway waiting for valet service. It's complimentary, so tip as you please. I honestly don't like to valet my car...... especially when I could easily park it myself right there LOL. But we didn't have a choice. *shrug* As always, Rumba's vibrant atmosphere didn't disappoint. You can feel the energy as soon as you walk in! The upbeat Latin music will have you swaying, I promise ;) The interior beautifully captures the culture and history of Cuba with colorful artwork, tropical plants, rattan pendant lamps, and large murals of Havana. It has a touch of elegance without feeling too upscale, so this restaurant is perfect for casual dining and special occasions like celebrations or date nights. We didn't have reservations and had to wait around 15 minutes for a table for two. No biggie - we sipped at the bar until our table was ready! The menu offers traditional Cuban dishes like ropa vieja, vaca frita, and bistec de palomilla along with a variety of tapas, mofongos, sandwiches, and sides. I ordered: *Taino Cocktail [El Jimador Reposado Cristalino, Ancho Reyes Verde, Tamarindo Pure, Agave Syrup, Fresh Lime Juice] ($14.95) - Oooo this was a sweet & spicy mix with a strong tequila finish! It's like a spicy margarita with a tropical twist. *Caribbean Punch Cocktail [Tanduay White Rum, Tanduay Gold Rum, Plantation Overproof Rum, Lime Juice, Guava, Orange, Pineapple Juice, Grenadine] ($13.95) - This drink was screaming my name! It's fruity, refreshing, and makes you feel like you're on an island. I just wish it had a liiiiiiitle more rum for a stronger punch, and that the glass wasn't filled with so much ice. *Ropa Vieja [shredded beef stewed in a sauce made with tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, garlic, cumin, olives, and sherry wine] ($15.95) - Cuba's national dish! The tomato-based sauce was perfectly seasoned and the beef was sooo tender... melt-in-your-mouth type of tender! My tummy was happy, but I wish the portion size was bigger! I paired it with a side order of tostones (fried plantains) and arroz blanco (white rice) with frijoles negros (black beans). The fluffy rice soaked up the rich sauces of the black beans & ropa vieja, so every bite was savory heaven~ The tostones were sliced, deep fried, and smashed to perfection. Crispy tostones + garlic mojo sauce = a perfect pairing. I could eat these all day! The only thing that's really missing here is...Can you guess? A DANCE FLOOR. Once they make room for that, y'all know where to find me. I'll be at the bar for drinks first and then dancing later! Need to satisfy your Cuban cravings? Look no further. Put some rumba in your step and head over here!

Service has been nothing but kind, helpful, and attentive every time we've gone. On our last visit, we were jonesing for happy hour and asked for the drink menu, only to discover they don't serve alcohol but they're BYOB. "And there's a wine and liquor store only two blocks away," our smiling server whispered conspiratorially. It was a genius idea. While we waited on our order, my husband jetted out for a 6-pack of Modelos and got back just as our chicken salad was being set down on the table. We asked for it to be timed as an appetizer, and I'd say the serving size might be closer to an appetizer than an entree. But the chicken pieces were well-marinated and delicious, making the salad a meaty entry point into our shared steak fajitas. These fajitas are a winner winner chicken - er, steak - dinner. Since we got it done medium well (my preferred doneness - feel free to judge me for it), I was worried about the steak being tough but these were tender enough for both my husband and I to emit a simultaneous "wow" at first bites. The sauce on them was also incredible, so much that we asked our server about it when he checked on us mid-meal. He crossed his heart and demurred, "It's a secret, so I can't really tell you," but when we pressed for more information, he admitted the main base was "lots of tomatoes". Well, whatever's in that magic sauce was good enough for us to drag our spoons against the near-empty fajita plate, trying to get every last drop of it. My husband and I have visited twice now, and our order has ranged from good to excellent (with those steak fajitas being the high winner thus far). There are a few parking spots in the front lot but being that this is in a quiet, residential area, there's plenty of parking to be found on the side streets if necessary.

The chicken and the veggies were very flavorful and grilled perfectly. They were a little stingy w only 3 tortillas but it's ok. The enchilada was also good. Good flavor but it was Luke warm.
