I discovered this relatively new Japanese pubesque-grub restaurant when I was in the mood; or better yet need of a good filling meal. I asked the counter person which dish was the most filling, and he answered all the rice bowls had the same amount of rice. I decided upon one which he said was popular and seemed to be his favorite.
It was topped with some type of seasoned braised beef, half a boiled egg, corn niblets, some flavorful sauce drizzled throughout, and even some salad found its way into the mix of toppings.
It was a little while ago so I don't remember every detail, but I do remember it being (as hoped) filling and pretty darn tasty. The flavor profile was nicely balanced amongst the ingredients, and was so filling I had trouble finishing it all in one sitting. I am a big fan of bowls with a variety of tastes, so close to a full 5 on that note.
The space is fairly unmemorable, but it was also dark out and pretty dimly lit inside, therefore it wasn't my main focus. They have several photos of their dishes in the window and the menu is fairly concise, but there is enough to choose from. There was one spicy beef bowl on special that evening (15% off), shown on an A-frame at the entrance. I noticed they had Karagi (fried chicken), chicken Katsu cutlets, Udon noodle soup-style bowls, fried dumplings (pot stickers), sweet potato fries (I believe), and quintessential edamame; a fun and healthy accompaniment.
Whom ever helped me choose my meal, was very patient and polite. Thank you for that. On the topic of 5 stars, I guess, I didn't try enough of their menu or stay long enough to rollout the 5 on that visit. I will say, the fact they're powering through these times, yields them a virtual extra star. read more
