Clearly French cuisine is never my favorite. I've been to France twice, eating in the country and at La Madeleine never changed my pallet for the cuisine. Oh well, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I got the La Madeleine chicken, and a fruit tart on the side. The savory dish came with rice, and broccoli. It was lacking flavor and just nothing impressive. The fruit tart was just too sweet, I barely ate half and I even got the mini version. I have been coming here since 2014, I started buying their fruit tarts (which are delicious) and in a short time started coming in to dine. I've been here for brunch, lunch, and dessert and have had a good service. Everyone that works here is nice and attentive. I also love the environment of the place because you order and pay at the same time so there's no long wait at the table to be served. It is kid friendly and perfect for different type of occasions. I only have one complaint, they need to be a more careful when they wash their dishes because I had a cappuccino served on a lipstick stained mug and that same day our silverware were sticky. read more

Excuse me while I pretend to be classy. This is located so conveniently on pleasant hill with an abundance of parking. Plus plus! When you walk in, your confused. Been there, done that. I proceeded to get this half and half deal. The deal is is where you get half of a sandwich and two sides. I picked chicken salad sandwich, pasta and Cesar salad. Once you order and pay, you go and sit down at a table and the food will be brought to you. Bread is complimentary and you can find it at the station near the drink fountain. They also have pastries and latte's but I went mainly for food. As far as the chicken salad sandwich, I've had better. I would definitely go again. I really like this French restaurant and bakery. Everything is fresh especially the bakery items you can pick up in a to-go box on your way out. You review the menu while you stand in line to pick out what you want. They will serve you on the line or bring it to your table. The inside is nicely decorated. I recommend the chicken friand with mushroom sauce. Chocolate dipped coconut macaroons are insane. The cappucino is a treat - try one ! This restaurant has made my list of great restaurants in the Duluth area. read more

I have been dinning at La Madeleine for the past 21 years. I grew up in Dallas where they are from and I have eaten at their locations in many cities, and I love their food! I was so happy to find out that they have a location on Pleasant Hill close to where I just moved. So I went my first week in my new neighborhood. And boy was I disappointed. The french roast coffee was weak, The bread was just OK, the Cesar salad was only half as good as their locations in Dallas, and the quiche I had was thin and forgetable. This is a chain, and it's kind of on the pricey side for what it is. I don't entirely "get" the overall experience of La Madeleine, but what keeps me coming back (at least once in a while) is the delicious Tomato Basil soup. It's approximately one million calories and fat grams per serving, but it is creamy and tomatoey and mmmmmmm. There is no other way to describe it. My little sister loves this place for some reason, so I feel like I end up eating here more than I'd usually prefer. Honestly, if their bread was a little bit better, they could have a one-item menu and I'd be perfectly happy slurping up the soup. There are several locations of this place. If you get it at the airport, I will tell you it is overpriced. I always go to the location on Pleasant Hill since it is closer to where I live. It is definitely reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. All of their choices are amazing! I love their pastas, sandwiches, and their soups. They also have free bread with butter. It can get pretty busy during lunch time and the line gets long. Their tomato basil is so good and their chicken pesto pasta is on point! The pasta also comes with a small baguette. It will definitely fill you up. The atmosphere is pretty cute. They try to make it French Themed, it also has a fireplace inside to make it cozy. I really love their food, and I crave it at times. This use to be one of my favorite places to visit. Over the time that I've been coming to this location it only seems to get worse. I had the displeasure of getting my order taken by Sam. The biggest attitude ever, I wasn't greeted no nothing. Management doesn't seem to care at all about this. I ordered a chicken Parisian along with pasta; the pasta was completely spoiled and reeked. You put my health at risk and along with COVID you would expect the tables to be clean, but there were only about 3 guests and the tables were filthy. On top of this, the whole restaurant smelled like someone sprayed 10 cans of fabreeze. This is completely unacceptable and I will NOT be coming back! Such a cute little cafe, it's the perfect little brunch spot that is conveniently right on Pleasant Hill. i had heard of La Madeleine before, and I'm sad it took me this long to finally check it out. The interior is super cozy, with lots of brick and wood throughout giving it a quaint French cafe feel. When you first walk in, you line up at the register where you place your initial drink & entree order and then proceed down the line where you can add their additional a la carte items. At the end of this line, you pay for everything you've ordered and then fill up your fountain drinks and help yourself to the bread and butter/jam. Once you've gotten everything to your table, its not long before your food shows up. Perhaps one of the most essential traits to an excellent brunch spot is the quality of their coffee. I ordered a caramel macchiato and it was superb. As for food, I ordered the Crepe Romanoff, which is a crepe topped with fresh strawberries in their brandy sour cream sauce and cinnamon, as well as one of their potato galette. The crepe was amazing. Will definitely be back for this one! The potato galette was pretty yummy as well, and offered a nice savory contrast to my sweet entree. My boyfriend ordered the French dip, which he said was just okay. He much preferred the Crepe Romanoff to his own entree.
