Vietnamese coffee

This place is still one of the best places in Fresno to grab a bite to eat. The service is fast, friendly and always delicious. It can get busy but it's a must!

Yummy!

The staff were super friendly and accommodating with smiles. The inside was decorated with cultural items that looked really cool. Let me start by saying that the Tai tea was amazing! I'll be back to get more Thai tea for sure. The food was okay. The chicken had a really yummy unique flavor, but it was a bit dry. The sticky rice was nice and chewy. But the fried pork belly was really dry. It was hard to eat because the really dry parts were not even chewable. It came with 2 containers of dipping sauces; one tasted and smelled really vinegary and the other was pretty good. Overall, it was a very filling meal, but the meats were dry.

Fried chicken / pork belly bites & rice. Not sure the sauces but one is chili oil for sure

I was really excited this yelp event but the food wasn't what I expected I guess? The pork belly was really fatty :( and my rice tasted a bit old it was sorta hard not sure if it was suppose to be like that but the Thai tea was so refreshing it was my 1st time try that & this place very what seems family oriented! Super clean inside with plenty of seating & the service was fast everyone was walking in n out with bags! Not sure if I will go back tho I have tried in the past and they get really busy but I'm glad I got to try it now!

There menu with assorted mix of Lao and Chinese food.

So we travel from Northeast area to see this restaurant. As we got there, we could clearly see where the restaurant was. Front area looks very appealing. Had menu on the window and specials on the side on a stand up sign.As we walked in the we were greeted by the nice cashier. She explained the menu and asked if we had any questions. We got two pieces of roasted chicken with pork belly plus sticky rice. We also decided to order their spring roll with shrimp .There chicken taste just like how my mom would make it so it brought me back to home.I would say their food is delicious and would go back again. Parking was plenty full too.

had to taste it all. veggie spring roll , peanut sauce, chow mein orange chicken

Really enjoy this restaurant. They have amazing veggies, spring rolls and also shrimp spring rolls. The service is very friendly and speedy. It only took 20 minutes . i've never eaten in, but it looks very clean.

Went to the Yelp event at La Kitchen and right when we walked in the place was packed! Got served pork belly which was outstanding, it was so crispy and tender with every bite! Next was the chicken it was packed it with flavor but would have liked to see it more crispy. The sticky rice was that, sticky and good! We also ordered the spring rolls which were made to order and they were nice in size and really hot and yummy! We already wanted to try the chicken fried rice and oh my, the chicken in that rice was so crispy and flavorful! But my favorite was the chai tea!!! It was absolutely delicious!!! It was smooth and creamy and just so good!!! To finish it off, I can't say enough about the staff, they made sure every need was met and being that It was not of my culture I was not really sure about what sauces went with what And the staff was very helpful to tell us what went with what sauce and they were delicious and quite different they put the perfect touch to everything. The atmosphere was chill there were allot of people ordering take out. I liked that on every table they had plenty of different condiments and the self take out area was convenient. We really enjoyed ourselves eating out of our culture helped us explore our taste buds which made for a great tasting dining experience. Thanks Yelp!!! We will definitely be back!!

Salmon laab. Salty but good.

The food here was great. Everything was authentic and delicious. I'm a big Pad Thai person, and I like that the chicken on the pad Thai wasn't regular stir fried chicken. It was grilled marinated chicken. We had a pretty big party and all the food came out quickly. Like every Thai restaurant, the inside is fairly small. Aside from the food and drinks to order, everything is self served, so there will not be a waiter or waitress coming to your table. You go and make your orders at the front register. They have paper plates, napkins, plastic forks and spoons, and to-go plates available. LA Kitchen is definitely a favorite in Fresno. Love their dessert and drink options. All other Thai restaurants I've been to are incomparable.

Fried chicken 2 thighs, 2 legs (hidden under) w/ sticky rice

Food: the food here is delicious and fresh. Their sticky rice is always nice and warm. The pork belly is so crispy and the sauce they give is so addicting. I also love their salmon laab. It's just the right amount of spice. Their chicken is really good with the jel sauce and sticky rice. Their chowmein was ok. And broccoli beef could have used a little spice Service: very quick to go options. Ambiance: quaint little shop.

It's supposed to be fried pork belly but it's just all fat from the pork belly

I've been coming to LA Kitchen on Kings Canyon for years, but lately it's taken a serious turn for the worse--like a glow down nobody ordered. Service is rough. The staff seem young and untrained, and they drop food off and disappear like it's a magic trick. No time to ask for anything--still waiting on the veggies that come with pho. At this point, I think they're being shipped from overseas. Food quality? Down bad. Prices? Up like gas. I ordered the Thai boat special, and the "fried" pork belly was basically 99% fat, 1% disappointment--and not even fried. It tasted like pho that gave up on life. We also ordered pork belly with sticky rice... or at least we thought we did. After 40 minutes and reminding three different servers, it never came. I wasn't sure if I was dining or participating in a scavenger hunt. And the restroom? No hand soap, no paper towels--just vibes. Apparently cleanliness is optional now. This used to be my spot, but I won't be back anytime soon. Maybe I'll return when the service improves... or when my pork belly finishes its long journey back from wherever it went.

Dinning room

Food was ok but expensive. The dinning room was dirty. Windows and wall dirty. Trash can receptacle were dirty with food that missed the trash can. The condiments on the tables were filthy. I hope the kitchen isn't as dirty as the dining room

Mango and jaew

Best snack on the go for a pregnant lady in need of a quick fix haha I love that the jaew is actually spicy and the mangos are fresh.

Beef larb

While doing some house shopping my whole family and I popped in to LA Kitchen. I'm always looking for local places to go and this looked fun! There's ample parking and while at first it looks like a take out only kinda place, once you go in there is a whole dining room to the right side! You order at the counter and then your food is brought to you. The accoutrements are at the counter including water cups and napkins and there are sauces and plastic cutlery at the table. We ordered beef larb, chicken larb, spring rolls, red curry, spicy chicken and orange chicken. I ate the beef larb and sampled the curry. The curry was eye crossingly good. I'm ordering that next time. The larb was a new experience and as I've never tried it before I'm going to say I enjoyed it but personally I'm unlikely to order it again. It's made authenticity so it has tripe in it. The papaya salad was spicy but I noticed that ours was quite chunky and not shredded. Overall it was a fun new experience and I'll be back!

Updated Review: -Tum Kueng Nai Bitter Soup always hits the spot. -Eggrolls weren't the best. They were served really overcooked on the outside and barely cooked on the inside. I wished it came with a spicy sauce and not just the sweet sauce. I ended up mixing Sriracha in with the sauce. -Kaopoon Special w/ Pork Belly was okay. -Pork Steamed Rolls were not the best. Very little fillings. Wouldn't recommend or buy them again. -Shrimp and Pork Spring Rolls are okay but not worth the price (2 for $10). I wouldn't buy them again. The peanut sauce is rather delicious though. -Fried Chicken Sticky Rice is always the best dish to get. Definitely worth the money.

Idk. *shrugs* This time we got: Pad Kra Pao, Pad Se-Ew (beef), Yellow Curry (chicken), and Thai Style Papaya Salad for dinner. We each had a different favorite dish out of the three entrees... Pad Se-Ew was mine (noodle head), followed by the Pad Kra Pao (perfect flavor, not too strong on the basil, egg fried just right), then the curry last (I prefer green or red more). The salad was good, refreshing. No spice whatsoever, but we knew that (one of the girls can't handle as much spice). The winner of our dinner? The Thai Tea Flight! I love the option of flights anywhere I go. It gives you the chance to try all the flavors you're curious about without committing to one that you may or may not like. Man... these were amazing. If I had to rank the flavors-- it was a toss-up between the Original Thai Tea and the Ube but since this is the battle of the Thai Teas... the OG gets a slight edge. Both freaking amazing though (we ordered full sizes of these after). Obviously Thai Iced Coffee comes next but coffee should be it's own category. It wins on its own as coffee. The Green Thai Tea came in last for all 3 of us, I believe. It's good, just not as good as the other three... and it's definitely more fragrant? Idk the right word for it. Anyway, I'd make more stops here just for these drinks alone now that i know how good they are. Staff was amazing. Friendly. Attentive. Restaurant still very aesthetic. Their plating of the meals? A+. It was a very good dinner.

We were greeted immediately and asked for a reservation as this place was packed! It thinned out about 10 minutes to closing as they were still seating people. Anywho, our server was ever attentive. As a vegetarian I miss kung pow chicken. And they were able to make Kung pow tofu for me. Which is probably the best hospitality ever!! They just had to check with the chef and it was a GO! The compound tofu was very flavorful. It wasn't mushy. The tofu was firm and all the seasonings paired well with it. The dude enjoyed his meal with the steak and purple rice. The rice was pretty good. I did not try the steak as I'm not vegetarian. But he really enjoyed it as it was butterfly pea rice. Our cocktails were delicious. Balanced not too sweet. It hit the spot. We were very impressed with this place and really enjoyed our time here all the flavors popped in every dish we had was delicious even the appetizer of the spring rolls. Very crunchy light and not greasy. Overall, this was a great spot to grab a delicious meal, date night, or celebrate. I would come just to come again definitely will be back.

And it wasn't until I brought it home. I realize that I was given beef instead of pork. The flavoring was OK not very sweet kind of bland but when you add the green sauce to it, it elevated the flavors and was amazing. I don't think that I would eat any of the dishes without the green sauce as the flavor profile is not very strong. Previously, I did order a pork pot Thai, but again the flavor profile was not that great until the green sauce was added I would go again, just due to convenience and the addiction to the green sauce lol

They have a large variety of noodles here, pho, thai boat noodles, khao soy, khao poon, and also tons of other thai /cambodian / lao choices. We got a thai boat noodle, khao soy, and pork belly to share. The thai boat noodle and khao soy are delicious. It was my first time ordering khao soy I thought khao soy was a curry based dish, but my noodles were a pork based broth, still yummy though! The pork belly here is huge and served hot and super crispy, miles better than any other pork belly I've tried. The thai tea had an off putting flavor, like they had made it with soy mik? instead of condensed evaporated milk? Total was $83 after tax and tip, this place is pretty hole in the wall but even hole in the wall places have to charge more now to keep up with inflation. Great fast service !

Khao soy. Soy happy.*…read more Why Khao Soy? Because Kh-ao piek and Kh-ao poon feel as standardized as ph-o, but Khao Soi seems to vary from shop to shop. Not just the spelling. Just my observation. And this was amongst the top 3 of the Khao Soys I've had. Lao Kao Soi anyway. The Th-ai version is a different dish to me. I came here Sunday evening. Things were slow. I told him the order just as he gave me the menu, and in exchange, he gave me a plate of bean sprouts and lime wedge instead. Haven't seen that for Kao Soy yet. Then came the utensils. And soon, the ginormous bowl, nay, tub, of KaSoy. The last time I saw a bowl this big in the Bay Area was decades ago in a pho house. They don't make extra larges like they used to in SF. I felt like Patrick, longing, staring with excitement and anticipation at SpongeBob's Pea-nut On-ion Sun-dae , trying to hold down the giggles and butterflies while my eyebrows are sparking. Except this Khao Soy actually SMELLS GOOD. And I still have my eyebrows. And I was not disappointed. The soup was HOTTT, with 3 Ts. The size of the bowl helped keep it that way. The surface of the lava lake was covered by the ground pork that defines Khao Soy. Completely. Just look at the picture. (I took a sip of the broth with the spoon before the picture) I promise you that I didn't go in with a camera in my hand, or point my phone as if I'm taking a video. Maybe it's the end of the day and they were feeling generous or just needed the ground pork gone. Well, I used my phone as a phone, and I didn't use the camera until this bowl came out. Just trust me. The broth was rich with notes of fermented bean paste and heavy notes of garlic, cut by the freshness of tomatoes. Heavy by the standards of a rice noodle soup. The lime helps. You might want to use an extra wedge too. Don't hold back though. There's a treasure hunt in progress. You see, within this bowl were a bunch of roast pork pieces. Quality roast pork pieces. The chicharron still very crispy when I got to each piece. (But that doesn't mean you should sin by letting the chicharron get soggy!) Seems like others have their roast pork left on top, but mine had sunk to the bottom when the Khao soy had landed. No big. This is like how won-ton noodle soups are served when you're Canto, the best stuff at the bottom. What impressed was that the roast pork was still crispy! The particular flat rice noodles used seems to be re-hydrated dried noodles. Normally a downgrade but in this case, a good move. Yes, fresh noodles carry the soup better, but in this boiling cauldron, the noodles used handled the heat much better and longer. After I had finished the noodles, the soup was still very hot, enough that I added the bean sprouts, which were still cooked to a point that they were absorbing the soup's flavor. I tried to finish the soup, but failed. Soooo close, but I have a drive to drive, and I don't want to have an accident on the way back. I don't know where the actual banos are in Los Banyos, and they're probably closed by the time I'm passing through. Now mind you, this is about as heavy as rice noodle soup will get. Take your time once you've found the chicharron. Share it if you can. Don't rush like me or you'll be burping garlic like I did rushing back to SF. If you are on a drive between SoCal and SF Bay or Sac, may I suggest taking the 99 instead of the 5? Instead of hours of just brown yellow and gas stations, you can stop at cities with proper markets. Instead of grab and go fast food or selling your kidney at Harris, why not enjoy some proper, affordable, sit-down chow in Fresno? Maybe this will open your eye to new foods as well! *(Yes. Yes. Terrible espanyol, if you can even call that Spanish, don't come at me with chanclas, pour favour!)
