In the end, Forgeways was my very close second-place choice only because their estimate was a bit higher, but their communication was top-notch and extremely professional. Forgeways' Frank arrived promptly and took many notes on my homemade gate design. After receiving his digital estimate, Frank texted photos of a similar gate currently being installed elsewhere, which demonstrated their craftsmanship and care to detail, and he included questions regarding my initial custom design to make sure he fully understood my design. Even though I didn't end up hiring them in the end, Frank's professionalism and communication were on point, proving that Forgeways is 100% worth your consideration.

I decided to find a few vendors to install automatic gates for me, and I knew I wanted aluminum because it is much lighter and requires far less maintenance. I always have my assistant contact at least three vendors to compare pricing and to get a sense of whether they are truly knowledgeable. My assistant found two of the vendors and I gave her the information for IRON MEN gates to schedule the appointment. From the moment Elad came out on day one, I was extremely impressed. He has a genuine, down-to-earth personality, and he was serious, professional and clearly knowledgeable about every aspect of the project - exactly what I wanted to accomplish with my gate. The other vendors were much more focused on sales and pitching, rather than taking the time during the initial walkthrough to thoroughly review what I wanted. Elad's proposal was also significantly better in quality and detail. The turnaround time was fast, and it included clear drawings and detailed information about what would be done--something I had not seen from any other vendor I've hired for work around my house. At that point, I knew I wanted to move forward with them. There was some negotiation on pricing, but ultimately I felt the final cost was absolutely worth it. Once I signed the proposal, everything went into motion immediately. They ordered the materials and maintained strong communication throughout the entire process. Elad responded quickly whenever I reached out, and when questions or concern came up, he always had solutions and worked with me. I also had several change orders. They were very patient and accommodating, and importantly, they handled my requests without delaying the completion date by an additional month (which is common with many vendors). They were able to schedule everything effectively and still complete my gates with minimal delays. Every team member who came out -- electrician, the two smooth stucco pillars crew, and the aluminum gate installation team -- was professional, polite, and respectful. Construction projects are stressful by nature, but they were genuinely the easiest vendor I have ever worked with. The best part is that my aluminum gates look incredible. Everyone who passes by my home has commented on how good they look. I have only left a few reviews in my lifetime, and I rarely do unless a vendor truly exceeds expectations. I am very particular and somewhat of a perfectionist, so it was not easy for me to find someone I considered exceptional --but this was absolutely one of those cases. Elad listened carefully to what I wanted to create and brought it to life. They completely out-shined, out-performed, and out-classed them all. I am a very happy customer and will definitely be a returning customer!!!

I didn't want a fresh powder coat job on a damaged gate, so I Yelped for welding services close to me. I called Precision Welding and Adan answered and came over to my house within the hour. He was going to give me an estimate for replacing the steel plate. The gate is a little smaller than 4' x 6'. To my surprise, he told me they could take it over to his guy that does powder coating. That sealed the deal for me. We texted back and forth and we set up an appointment to get the job done. My gate was removed on a Tuesday and was reinstalled as good as new by Friday afternoon (I was told Friday, Saturday at the latest). This was important to me because I have three dogs and a pool. I'm old school and like to have a written contract, but I realize that nowadays texting serves the same purpose. Great craftsmanship, excellent communication, great value, all in timely fashion. I highly recommend Precision Welding. As a bonus, I had my spring replaced with a self closing hinge. I have needed that for decades. The old setup would slam shut, especially on windy days, cracking the brick wall. I've been afraid I would have to replace my wall. Note that the side rails need to be painted. We didn't want to remove them because they are inside my new pavers. I received a can of paint and will do that myself.

The job was pretty swift, considering it was all custom. They measured carefully, and discussed potential issues with us and how we might like to work around them (mostly issues of our old house having walls not perfectly true, and of building codes having changed a lot since our former railing had been installed). All made sense and we came up with agreeable workarounds. They did initial fabrication on site, to make sure that everything fit perfectly, and then did the finishing work and painting off site. The final install was meticulously precise. The new railing is very sturdy. Photos show completed railing BEFORE we installed new finished flooring. It is bolted to the subfloor and to some reinforcement blocking that they installed under the subfloor for us, as well. Overall, we're quite happy with it. We're trying to restore how the house might have looked at the beginning of the 20th century after countless bad decisions & poor "improvements" by previous owners, which actually made the house look like a sick mutt. Unfortunately, not very many of these "experts" we've had round have been much use at realizing our dream. Many rows and arguments later it got to the point where I wasn't trusting anyone in LA to do a good job. But we needed a railing on the front steps (a previous owner had obviously thought it would be a good idea to dismantle the original steps and remove the old iron railings). After much research we found king ironworks. Thank god we did. I gave them a raft of photos I'd taken of a old 1920s railing on a house down the street & king managed to copy it exactly. It's thick, heavy (it took three men to carry it up the steps) metal and looks like it has been sat on our front steps for 100 years, which is exactly what we wanted to achieve.
