We happened upon this nice Cuban restaurant. The staff was friendly and the food was excellent. We started with plantain chips which were long strips of plantain chips. This was accompanied with a garlic-rich sauce. My wife had the Cubano which she enjoyed. She thought maybe a little have on the mustard and the meats were great. I had the Masas de Cerdo which were small chunks of pork over rice with a slaw and a sweet sauce. Ery good read more

Was a Cozy restaurant offering Cuban eats such as ropa vieja and pollo asado, plus cocktails and dancing. The Cuban coffee and cafe con leche were fabulous. However the place has closed and left beautiful C Street. read more

I ordered the Cuban stew with chicken. It's amazing. We also ordered the cheese balls and yuca fries as an appetizer and both were enjoyable. It seems like all of their sauces are homemade and it had a relaxed environment. read more

I felt like I was entering a local San Juan restaurant or a barrio in Mexico City. I've never been to Cuba so I can only guess that the vibe works there too. I have been to many trendy little hidden-jems in many cities across the US. This place would have felt at home in Miami, San Francisco, Chicago, or anywhere in the larger cities across the Caribbean. I thought the menu was a little thin but that may be a sign of the times as many restaurants have had to cut back with labor and supply shortages. They had all the basics. I did think some of the dishes I tried were a little bland. Not bad food, just not as robust as I have had in Miami or other Cuban restaurants. Cuban food is not hot, it's flavorful and deep, don't confuse it with Mex/American or Texmex. So I wasn't looking for heat. I had the black-bean soup, the traditional Cuban sandwich, and their version of fries which was more like slivered potato swirls. It was the soup that was a little bland for my tastes, warm and tasty but missing something like some mild peppers or chilis. My Cubana sandwich was a traditional panini pressed with shredded port, I think smoked ham, mustard, and house-made pickles. For me, the pickles were a little reserved and there was not enough of them. Other people may have liked it just fine. I had taken my daughter and her husband along, neither of whom had eaten Cuban food. They enjoyed what they ordered which was a good sign as they have a limited palette and are not always open to experimentation with exotic options. This was a good primer for them and I hope to get them to try other Cuban food in the future. Our waitress (who was taking care of the whole place alone) was fast and very friendly. Not over-engaging (which I prefer) but was willing to chat a bit when we asked her questions. She had a great attitude and clearly cared about the customers. I look forward to returning again with my wife and other family members. There is a large bar outside of the main dining room and a party room in the back with a stage. I hope they get live Cuban music in from time to time. read more

This is a very upscale Cuban restaurant. We went with a group who was a bit skeptical of the smaller menu and authentic food, however everyone enjoyed their dishes. Many folks in our party had the classic Cubano sandwich, ceviche, etc. I had the braised brisket dish and it was so incredibly flavorful!!! The veggies were delicious. We also shared empanadas & shrimp appetizers- Devine! So good! The shrimp was cooked perfectly. Cadillac margaritas were good, but more tangy and less sweet. The ambiance is so cozy and trendy. Modern decor with cool lighting and cultural art. Loved it. read more

Heard about this place from a friend. Great atmosphere and locally owned. Food was amazing--jerk sauce was phenomenal! They make all their own sauces, including the ketchup. Several different options for plantains from savory or sweet to crispy chips. And, they accept reservations that are easily booked from their website. We'll certainly be returning! read more

This is a charming place decorated to make you feel like you're stepping into Cuba. Lots of photos of Cuba, taken by one of the owners BTW, really set the tone. Right away you're greeted by a friendly staff. As we were first time visitors co-owner Freddy gave us a quick little tour and talked about how things are in Cuba right now. My dad was Cuban so I really appreciated that. That's for the menu it's not really a traditional selection but they do have the types of food that you would find at Cuban restaurant with their own special twist. When I saw they had oxtail I really wanted to try it. I realize that it would not be the way I normally get it. It's served over mashed potato and collard greens. But, I had to give it a try. Freddy said it was inspired by the Cienfuegos region of Cuba. The oxtail meat itself was tasty and the dish in general was good. I still prefer it cooked the traditional form as a stew. My wife tried the Ropa Vieja served with yellow rice. She enjoyed it although she did say it was a little salty. Again it did not come with the traditional white rice and black beans. That could be on us, we should've asked our very friendly waitress. Overall it's still a very nice place to go and enjoy. You really get the Latin vibe in there. And that night they were even going to have salsa lessons in the back but we are over an hour and a half away from home so we couldn't stay. read more

Service excellence and personal! There were four of us, one ordering the pork chop and nothing was left but a gnawed bone. . Two ordered the brisket and it was delicious! I ordered the oxtail. Wow! Delicious, lick the plate!!! For apps we ordered the empanadas and fried plantains. You must try both. The onion relish for the plantains was out of this world! Our friends ordered one flan that was no doubt the best in Springfield!! This place has a very enjoyable atmosphere, excellent food, and amazing people. Go, just GO! read more

Ate at the bar with Alberto taking care of us. Great drinks, I had the Godfather with sweet smokey mezcal and my lovely wife had a nice homemade rum chat. We shared the wonderful empanadas and then had the pork belly with rice and red beans. Everything was unbelievably good and Alberto was a joy to talk to. Highly recommend this place. Update - We went 2 weeks later and sat at the bar again with Alberto. Tried the Pollo Asada while my wife had the Pork Taco special. Just as good as before, great flavorings you don't find anywhere else. This is the best-kept secret in Springfield, everyone ought to try it! read more

Always two sides to every story so having dined here twice preface stating I really wanna love this place, I do: they are new, they have dramatically improved an older space in historic area, have great looking bar and done wonders to the interior. Foodwise... nothing to rave about; have dined with 2 other couples so tried 8 dishes total. Wait staff is wonderfully attentive, prices reasonable, and two dishes outstanding: Chef's Steak Special and Curry Soup. Cuban Sandwich was pulled pork (not traditionally sliced tenderloin), so without disparaging their food much, it's worth at least one try. Oh, and cocktails where hit or miss for flavor mix: Caprihina a hit, Mojoito a miss. read more

Recently discovered this amazing restaurant thru dear friends and could not be more pleased with the recommendation. I dont live in Springfield so was not familiar with all the great shops and restaurants along commercial street. Its a great vibe and this restaurant occupies a former bank building oozing with character and charm. The owners are amazing and you can tell they made a conscious decision to introduce something unique and special to the spfd community. Freddy Flores, one of the owners, toured us thru his space explaining the artwork, photography and more that really set the tone for this great space. You know immediately this is a labor of love. Which...brings us to the food. More love and more attention to details with flavors full of depth and character and feel curated from traditional dishes honed over years of preparation. The sauces are rich, robust and lick the plate clean, tasty. The shrimp appetizer was so delicious we stared at each other deciding who actually got the last piece. Entrees are generous sized and beautifully presented. I had the arroz con Pollo with plantains, but we had a good variety of dishes, including oxtail, that we were able to share and sample. Specialty drinks are delicious, and although I didn't try it this visit...im told the mojito is legendary. Run, don't walk to experience this fantastic find and support owners and staff that really are glad you are there. It's definitely a place I look forward to returning. Way to go, spfd. This is incredible addition. read more

Great food! I tried the brisket and rice dish and the stew with the shrimp. Both were excellent. I also had the shrimp appetizer and the yucca fries. The amount of food you get per appetizer was a bit smaller than expected, but everything tasted great and I really enjoyed dining there. Will most likely visit again! read more

I gotta say, what a beautiful restaurant. It's like being in little Cuba! The atmosphere is glorious. I love being here and all the cocktails are crafted to perfection! (make sure to try the Mojito, it's the best by far). The food is exceptionally prepared and the chefs really know what they are doing. If you're in Springfield, be sure to not pass this place up. The servers are bomb and well informed. Freddy (the owner) is a super cool guy with a big personality and great to have a conversation with. Everything on the menu slaps and I highly recommend it. 5 stars in every category on this one (-: read more

Delicious! It's obvious they take pride in their dishes. We have had their chicken sandwich and Cuban sandwich for lunch. Both excellent. On this night we chose something lighter. Lots of flavor! Such a nice little spot on Commercial Street! We sat on the bar side and had excellent service and conversation with the bartender who gave us great recommendations. We ordered two cocktails, Cuba Libre and the Lolita, while we looked over the menu. We decided on the Fricases De Pollo (Cuban style chicken stew with white rice) and the Cuban sandwich (had to!). The Fricases De Pollo was very similar to a beef pot roast except this was an entire chicken thigh swimming in the homemade broth that had been cooking for the last six hours. The flavors were exceptional. The plantains on top were crunchy and gave so much texture to the dish. Don't even get me started on that Cuban! Hands-down, the best in town. On the weekends they have Cuban nights in the back room. I cannot think of a better date night spot. Make sure to put this on your list!! read more

Update: came again for dinner with friends. They don't seem to have the asado lechon anymore! So I got the brisket w/ veggies and rice and it was so yummy! The flavor is more on the sweet side. Came here with some friends for a girls night out and was very impressed! We came on a Wednesday night and it was still pretty busy. Quaint, mildly decorated, but tasteful. Our waitress was prompt and provided great service. We ordered sangrias and virgin sangrias - I think they had a BOGO sangria deal going on. For our entrées, some got the Cuban sandwich (great choice they said). I got the Pollo Asado which was delectable. The meat was so juicy and flavored just right. The rice and beans side dish was pretty good, made with black beans and white rice. The plantains were not so great. (But, I've tried plantains about 3 times at 3 different restaurants and never liked them, so I guess that one is on me.) For dessert, some got the crème brûlée and Cuban coffee. They all said they loved it. Overall, I think this place has a lot of great potential as they continue to establish themselves as a solid restaurant on C-Street. If you're curious, I say go give it a try! read more

Delicious Cuban food. Heard about this place from a Cuban friend, who said it was delicious and authentic. I've never been to Cuba, so I cannot validate the authenticity, I can certainly validate the flavor. In our group, we got the Masas de Cerdo, the Cubano classic sandwich, the Chicken sandwich, Hibiscus tea (Sorrel), Coffee/chocolate Gelato, Tres Leches cake (not on the menu), and Cuban coffee. Everything was top-notch - we were all surprised and thrilled with each dish. Additionally, our server (Vanae, I believe) was particularly helpful and kind, offering samples of the tea, suggesting the tres leches cake, making the Cuban coffee herself, and leaving us with a thank-you note. The restaurant was clean, and we got right in at the lunch hour on a Saturday. I cannot wait to go back. read more

If I could give a minus star I would. The only good thing was the mojito. The food was not authentic Cuban. My husband is Cuban. We know Cuban food. When we asked to speak to the manager who by the way was not Cuban. She was very rude to my husband. If you want real Cuban food do not go there. We spent over $100 and we couldn't even eat this food. read more
