Cute family owned business with delicious pupusas! My faves are cheese and zucchini, beans with pork and cheese or just the plain cheese. The pickled cabbage is delicious and goes perfectly with the pupusas. I also tried their beef tacos and it was delicious, highly recommend. The staff is super friendly and the restaurant itself is perfect for dining in with family and friends.

The beef tacos were amazing, highly recommend. My first time having pupusas they were okay the queso was weird. There is a bit of a wait as everything is made fresh. The staff was really friendly.

Food is GOOD, portions are generous! Yes, there's a wait, but food isn't pre-made under heat lamps. Apparently, there's a longer wait for the pupusas. Chicken in quesadilla was very well flavoured! Queso in pupusa was oozing out as you cut into it. What could be improved are the following - a couple of the older wait-staff seem to ignore non-Spanish speaking tables, maybe language is an issue - floor could use a sweeping, BUT not sure if they have "down time" as they seem quite busy during my visit - they use a lot of plastic cutlery/containers even though metal is available - the restaurant needs better VENTILATION - smoke wafts into the dining room, so you'll end up smelling like fried food

I came with some coworkers during lunch time. We ordered the chicken and cheese pupusa, Steak tacos (4), chicken tacos (4), and plantain bananas. The pupusa was great, it came warm and was a nice size. The tacos were great. The steak was more well-done than I would like but it was good. The chicken was good, a very good portion. The flavour was a bit bland compared to the steak but that's also because it's chicken. The plantains were delicious and we all enjoyed it. It's not a quick place to eat so be prepared to wait a bit. I understand they can prepare food for takeout too so that might be the best option if you're on a time crunch.

Food, quality, cleanliness, price, and service are outstanding. The dishes are authentic, flavorful, with lots of choices. You wait a bit because the food is crafted(it takes talent to make a pupusa) from scratch and served very warm

I liked it better when I got food delivered by food service as they are not very friendly when you go to pick up.

On…read morea chilly Saturday afternoon, I made my way to this area and was waiting for my friend, when I noticed this restaurant across the road. It was in between a group of Indian and Pakistani restaurants, so I became curious and searched it on Google. The reviews were very good and the food looked delicious. When my friend showed up, I suggested that we go to this place for lunch and she agreed. We were not very familiar with Salvadoran cuisine, so we came in with open hearts and open bellies. A young friendly lady greeted us and she told us that we can sit anywhere we liked. It was a chilly day, so we picked a seat in the middle corner of the restaurant. The place had a cozy vibe, as if you have entered into someone's home for lunch. From the speakers, an upbeat music in Spanish was playing and the entire place was decorated with colourful maps and photos of dishes. We decided to order two cheese and bean pupusas (Pupusa de queso con frijol) and an item to share, Birria Tacos (Tacos de Birria, comes in 4). The pupusa was yummy- it was soft yet lightly chewy and the fillings were sufficient. Before the Birria Tacos came out, our waitress brought a large jar of salad (that we can scoop onto our plate) and a hot pepper sauce. The Birria Tacos were delicious- the tender beef was juicy, the toppings were fresh, and the cheese was gooey. There was a sauce (consommé) along with chopped onions, cilantro, lime wedges, and green salsa that we could add to the tacos for more flavour. Adding some cilantro, squeezing some lime juices, and dipping the taco into the consommé added so much flavour! Every bite was delicious! The portion size was generous as well, both of us were full after eating two. Relaxing vibe, delicious food, and friendly service, this place was a great find! If you are looking for a unique restaurant to go to in Etobicoke, try this place!

We arrived around lunchtime on a recent Saturday and the place was probably about half full. We knew we wanted to sample a few different pupusas, so we wound up ordering three of them. We also decided to try out one of their mixed plates, which wound up including Meat, Shrimp, Beans, Eggs, Rice, Salad, and Avocado. The food arrived a short time later and everything was absolutely incredible. The pupusas were definitely the highlight, as they were so fresh and filled with delicious components. I especially enjoyed how cheesy they were; I could imagine getting a whole plate of these things during a night out and just demolishing it. So good. The mixed plate was also quite tasty, with the meat and shrimp boasting an irresistible char from the grill. The shrimp was especially good, and I don't think I've ever eaten shrimp cooked quite that way. But the main attraction are those pupusas. I need to eat those things daily.

What a wonderful surprise!…read more Being an unclaimed business with only one review, there were questions about whether or not this would be successful or worthwhile. The process of ordering felt strange. I thank the previous reviewer who recommended going to the Facebook page for more information. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063964563481&mibextid=ZbWKwL I reached out via WhatsApp and asked what was available to order & how this process works. Roberto was SUPER nice, talking me through the process of ordering, payment (via Zelle, Venmo, or CashApp), and pickup. My options for yesterday were seven different pupusas: Chicharrón y queso (pork and cheese), Revueltas (mix: pork, beans, cheese), Frijol y queso (beans and cheese), Solo de queso (only cheese), Camarón y queso (shrimp and cheese), Loroco y queso (Loroco and cheese), and Jalapeño y queso (Jalapeño and cheese). My friend doesn't like shrimp, but I ordered 2 of each anyway LOL We shared the rest and ate our fill - with leftovers to spare! I wasn't sure what Loroco was, so I even learned something new... According to preparedcooks.com, Loroco is a green unopened flower bud. It is quite popular for its use in sauces, stews, and soups. The flower comes from a herbaceous vine known as Fernaldia pandurata, and you can find between 8 and 18 flowers on each plant. Loroco has a very distinctive taste. It tastes like most greens but combined with overtones of nuts. It has an earthy-artichoke flavor to accompany the overtones of nuts. The taste of loroco is best described as a cross between squash and mild broccoli. My friend & I were both pleasantly surprised by the light flavor. We were given a fresh & delicious side to top our pupusas with called curtido. According to TastesBetterFromScratch.com, Curtido is a Salvadoran cabbage slaw or relish made with finely shredded cabbage, red onion, carrot, oregano, and vinegar. House of Pupusas makes their curtido with pickled jalapeños instead of onion - delightful! We also were treated to salsa roja, made with tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, and garlic. The salsa roja was thinner than I expected - more like gazpacho than a traditional salsa - but super tasty just the same. I've only got one photo to show you, because we were so busy "oohing", "aahing", and shoveling all the food into our faces - after deciding which pupusa to try first. While this is my first try of pupusas, I recently also tried an arepa for the first time. Arepas are thick pockets of masa and MUCH heavier than a pupusa. I think I prefer a pupusa because you have a more even distribution of filling to "pocket". The only caveat to this amazing place is that there's no eat-in option. They offer takeaway or delivery. I chose to pick up my order so we could enjoy our meal by the Outer Harbor. Other than loud seagulls and a bit of a breeze, we had the BEST food and a wonderful time catching up. I'm excited to see House of Pupusas grow and flourish. Perhaps they'll open a food truck in the near future. If they do, I'll be first in line ready to tackle another order of EVERYTHING.

Since I had never been before I wanted to get the combination plate. I opted for a pupusa, 2 tacos, and an enchilada. For each, I just asked for whichever filling/meat was most popular and what the restaurant would recommend which was the pork. The tacos have two options for topping and I went for #1 which was lettuce, pico de gallo, cilantro, sour cream, and avocado (a thin guacamole rather than pieces). The tacos were good. They looked even better. They came with 2 tortillas each so it was sturdy enough to hold the fillings. The pupusa was nice but not my favourite. I ended up dipping it in the hot salsa and it was nicer. My absolute favourite was the enchilada. It was not what you would expect of a Mexican enchilada, but is instead a Salvadoran enchilada which is very similar to a tostada. That was great! Overall, the food was good. I'd love to return to dine in person because I think it would be amazing in person. Usually takeout is never the same. Hopefully once the lockdown ends I can return and have an even better experience!

You can grab some pupusas for just $5, which comes with some cabbage veggies, sauce and you can get your pupusas with toppings included in the price, I got mine with cheese and pumpkin. They also have tres leches cake and Kolashanpan, a soda from El Salvador. We tried the soda, and it really reminded me of the Chubby sodas I had as a kid. The owner recommended the tres leches cake and it's really good too! They confirmed their main customers are mostly Salvadorans and Mexicans.
