Chicken papusa and bean & cheese- delish!
    Natasza O.

The food didnt look like much when it came out.. presentation was kinda lacking. Yet, it was absolutely delicious and I would definitely visit again soon. Easy and simple layout. The menu is big, readable and easily understood. They present the prices, likely how they do in Salvador with the fraction. So 4 3/4. For $4.75. Genius! Went here for dinner after a hard day's work and it was satisfying. Ordered a bean & cheese papusa and a chicken papusa as well. Both were well made, tasty & substantial. I was gonna order 3. Yet two is filling. The salsa is on the liquidy side, which doesnt appeal to me all that much. My salsa preference is for it to have chunks of tomato. The cabbage, again, looked to me, so underwhelming, but the flavours truly danced in my mouth as the herbs and dressing they have just made it pop. Amazing! This meal verified to me, how much looks can be deceiving. When we were there for dinner, we dined in and watched the people come through and go out the doors as they picked up their orders. Very popular place indeed! One of the people who picked up, I saw their order, it was tacos and wow the serving looked so appetizing because of all the colours! Colours make the world go round. I think it would be great if they added more colour to certain bland looking dishes, like the one I ordered. Also the table was dirty and we had to request it be cleaned. When it was wiped down, it was wet and needed to be dried off with napkins. Happy this place is on my neighbourhood. Definitely worth going to!

AMAZING!! Such delicious flavor! The cook(maybe was the owner) was so nice and welcoming! We got a few tacos ( I got the beef), chicken quesadilla and a pork Pupusa!! Everything was so perfect! My favorite was the taco - I did add cheese to it. AND THE CABBAGE!! I LOVE HOW THEY ADD THIS! Whatever sauce they use is so flavorful and just the right amount of spice. It was our first time trying the Pupusa and it was delicious!! Very generous portions for the price. We preferred to share the pupusa and that was enough between the 3 of us but we got full off of the tacos!! I will be making the trip here every time I'm in town!

Here's the chorizo taco... just chock full of flavours I wished more Latin foods would deliver.

Unbelievably delicious! Unlike other Latin foods I've tried before. It really is a 'marriage ' of a lot of flavours. Guacamole is amazing too- limey and a nice kick. Fish tacos to die for... but the pupusas!! YUM. Can't wait to try more from the menu next time.

I've been saying to myself for the past few weeks that I need to eat more Salvadoran food. I live in Washington, D.C. which, is probably the number two spot in the Salvadoran diaspora so to be walking around Kensington Market and to stumble upon a pupuseria, I knew the universe was communicated to me directly. Now, I wasn't too hungry but when the word is given, action is to be taken so I only ordered one, a bean a cheese combination. Seated in the cut admiring the Afro-Centric mural and the watching the storm clouds approach, felt a lot like Toronto from a travelers perspective, "a beautiful blend."* The torrential rains did come, shortly after the food which didn't take too long but they were made to order. Enough time to regroup, wash your hands and for anticipation to increase. This was the first pupusa that I've had in a minute and it tasted good and was further confirmation, that I need to do this more often. The curtido wasn't too acidic, it was just right and the hot sauce was perfect for me as someone that doesn't do too much spicy spicy stuff, shoot I'm gettin old. Paying on the way out, I had a brief exchange with proprietor. He was the only one working and was rolling. He said that D.C. was the second home of the pupusa, I really got to do this more often. *I know it is a lot deeper than what I saw on my brief jaunt. Quote from Anthony Cruz's The Essence.

It's the tacos! So great. Friendly service. Ordered a bunch of tacos and they forgot to omit the cilantro; made it right without a fuss, just with grace. That's what keeps your customers loyal. Excited for them to be a part of the neighbourhood

So tasty. I totally over ordered for myself but happy for my midnight snack later. Great tacos and pupusa. Definitely returning to try the rest of the menu!

I asked about the name of this, the latest contender in the Gordo Food Stall Games. Casamiento means two things. Firstly it means marriage, literally. Secondly, it means rice and beans and the dish the marriage of those two ingredients creates. The signature dish here is a combo of a quesadilla and a pupusa and really good! The beans are black and cooked into a rich oozy-good purply black mixture along with the cheese, it's simple and delicious. The crust wrapped around it so you can hold it like a hard taco is crispy and yummy. It was served along with a thin tomato sauce that could be poured inside, and a pickled cabbage slaw which leaned toward kimchi. It's a wondrous addition to the embarrassment of riches that resides in Kensington and specifically at Gordo's food market continuing the tradition of serving up the best in snack food innovation(!?) I'll be back again to try something else (there are 4 varieties to choose from including a veg version which sounded very intriguing). Along with those items, check out the interesting sides too, oh my!

"Yo Soy Pollito" platter w/ a side of coleslaw

They say good things come in small packages and Casamiento is no exception. Tucked away in the back of a food hall that's bustling with other vendors, Casamiento offers a must-have meal for anybody craving a Mexican fix. The main offering on their menu are "Pupasadillas", a cross between the pupasa (a thick corn tortilla) and a quesadilla. I ordered the "Yo Soy Pollito" platter which came with 2 pupasadillas and coleslaw. The pupasadillas were filled with spicy chicken, refried beans and cheese wrapped in a corn tortilla made fresh-to-order (the chef pointed out that it was locally-sourced masa dough). The warm, crispy wrap combined with the cheese, chicken, and beans that melted together in the best possible way, made for a great combination of flavors. Top that off with an authentic Mexican Coke and you've got an amazing snack/lunch/dinner at a reasonable price. I'll definitely be back to try some of the other pupasadillas on their menu! OTHER NOTES: The chef is super friendly and easy to talk to! There's a bit of seating at the back of the food hall with space for parties of about 4 although the food hall does get pretty busy around dinnertime and the seating is shared with the other vendors.

Absolutely amazing food. Great prices. Best Latin/Mexican food I've had in the city. 11/10. Highly recommend.

Casamiento had quick service , was reasonably priced and tasty food. Portions where a wee bit smaller than expected though and we where given plastic cutlery despite eating in which where really hard to cut anything with.

Chorizo tacos, bean and cheese, and Chorizo pupusas. So good!!

What a wonderful surprise!…read more Being an unclaimed business with only one review, there were questions about whether or not this would be successful or worthwhile. The process of ordering felt strange. I thank the previous reviewer who recommended going to the Facebook page for more information. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063964563481&mibextid=ZbWKwL I reached out via WhatsApp and asked what was available to order & how this process works. Roberto was SUPER nice, talking me through the process of ordering, payment (via Zelle, Venmo, or CashApp), and pickup. My options for yesterday were seven different pupusas: Chicharrón y queso (pork and cheese), Revueltas (mix: pork, beans, cheese), Frijol y queso (beans and cheese), Solo de queso (only cheese), Camarón y queso (shrimp and cheese), Loroco y queso (Loroco and cheese), and Jalapeño y queso (Jalapeño and cheese). My friend doesn't like shrimp, but I ordered 2 of each anyway LOL We shared the rest and ate our fill - with leftovers to spare! I wasn't sure what Loroco was, so I even learned something new... According to preparedcooks.com, Loroco is a green unopened flower bud. It is quite popular for its use in sauces, stews, and soups. The flower comes from a herbaceous vine known as Fernaldia pandurata, and you can find between 8 and 18 flowers on each plant. Loroco has a very distinctive taste. It tastes like most greens but combined with overtones of nuts. It has an earthy-artichoke flavor to accompany the overtones of nuts. The taste of loroco is best described as a cross between squash and mild broccoli. My friend & I were both pleasantly surprised by the light flavor. We were given a fresh & delicious side to top our pupusas with called curtido. According to TastesBetterFromScratch.com, Curtido is a Salvadoran cabbage slaw or relish made with finely shredded cabbage, red onion, carrot, oregano, and vinegar. House of Pupusas makes their curtido with pickled jalapeños instead of onion - delightful! We also were treated to salsa roja, made with tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, and garlic. The salsa roja was thinner than I expected - more like gazpacho than a traditional salsa - but super tasty just the same. I've only got one photo to show you, because we were so busy "oohing", "aahing", and shoveling all the food into our faces - after deciding which pupusa to try first. While this is my first try of pupusas, I recently also tried an arepa for the first time. Arepas are thick pockets of masa and MUCH heavier than a pupusa. I think I prefer a pupusa because you have a more even distribution of filling to "pocket". The only caveat to this amazing place is that there's no eat-in option. They offer takeaway or delivery. I chose to pick up my order so we could enjoy our meal by the Outer Harbor. Other than loud seagulls and a bit of a breeze, we had the BEST food and a wonderful time catching up. I'm excited to see House of Pupusas grow and flourish. Perhaps they'll open a food truck in the near future. If they do, I'll be first in line ready to tackle another order of EVERYTHING.

We put in an order for Chicharon appetizer, bean and pork cheese pupusas. There is a side of garnishes, mild and hot sauce which we were recommended to try both. The pupusas were good, with the pork one standing out just a bit more in taste, but I wouldn't recommend the bean one (and neither do the locals). The Chicharon fried pork belly with nachos were great and a must have as a shareable appetizer with friends.

Both the food and the beverages were loka! Would be a regular if I lived closer. Pupusa - Beans with cheese - The pupusas are served with a coleslaw of sorts (yellowish, not creamy), a tomato based sauce and a hot sauce. Each of these sauces come very flavourful but together mix well to bring out the flavours of the pupusas. Ultimately, will have to play around to figure out which ratio works best for you. The beans and cheese pupusa was tasty, the two textures blended well and was augmented by the salsas. I only wished the pupusa exterior was crispier. Pupusa - Pork with cheese - In contrast to the beans and cheese pupusa, these were more crispy. Probably because the oils released from the pork made it crisp up a bit more. Unfortunately, I didn't like this one as much because it lacked the creaminess that came from the beans. Might have to try the supreme flavour to get the three fillings. Platano con crema - Perfectly caramelized plantains! I am not a sour cream person, so I skipped the cream, but the plantains by themselves were soft and delicious. Yuca con chicharron - Yuca fries are my favourite form of fries; slightly sweet, fluffy inside and crispy outside. These yuca fries had all these characteristics! Unfortunately, the chicharron was over fried, resulting in chewy, dry pieces of pork. Tamarindo - Lots of tangy tamarind flavour and served in a huge cup. Works well to cut the more fatty and oily foods like fries or the pork Pupusas. Horchata - Milky roasted rice drink was delicious as well. It had lots of roasted rice flavour, but it was also a bit too sweet for myself. Would still recommend to try.
