Each time so far we've gotten whatever soup, salad/side that they needed to move and also the fish and chips is fresh and hot. The pickup/wait time is about 20 mins. They are a popular spot in town, always someone picking up and/or enjoying their meal in the restaurant. June 25/2025: This was kind of disappointing. This was a takeout only meal. I ordered the scallops (8 small scallops) & chips ($18.99). I realized that there was an up charge of $4.00 for the fries! Very small scallops as well. Also ordered a deep fried battered pickles ($6.99). This was a good size order & they were tasty as well. Also had a side order of oil & vinegar coleslaw ($1.50). Good fish n chip atmosphere and attentive staff. 1/2 portion meal was a good enough portion without getting too full. We preferred the haddock over the halibut. Haddock was like butter, halibut is more dense. It's a good option to get a side of fries and a side of salad to balance the grease. Deep fried twinkie is interesting (nice to try once), it has the light breadiness of a waffle but the sweet flavour of funnel cake. First time visiting this chain and this location. The interior is really cute and full of English style decorations the shelf of teapots with toque tea cozies were adorable. We had a large table of 7 and everyone got either fish and chips or fish and o-rings. I had the haddock and my husband had the halibut. I really enjoyed my Haddock as it did not feel too oil and tasted buttery soft! I also loved how right away after we sat down they brought over a plate of lemon slices and the bottles of tartar sauce at each table. As a tartar sauce lover I always have to ask for extra when I get fish and chips take out....and even the few times I've done dine in, I am just given packets to finagle with so the bottles were amazing. This is the best fish and chips I've had in a long time. The fish batter was light and crisp. The chips are fresh cut and cooked perfectly. I don't know what authentic fish and chips taste like but heritage is my favourite place to go to. The best thing about this place is the value you get. The portions are huge. If you come for lunch they have a $8.95 lunch special. A large haddock is only $8.95. It's pretty unbelievable because other places charge way more ($15-$20) for fish and chips and it isn't even that good. The "chips" are also delicious and cooked perfectly. This place is our go-to fish and chip place. We dont eat meat on friday's during lent so we go to this place. But we go alot other days too. We went yesterday (march 15) and had to wait for my husband to arrive. They got us a table quickly and didnt rush us as we waited. We had some drinks (me a tequila sunrise and my mother a coors light). The ambiance was social, not super loud but just nice. We had the fritters. You have to get those! They're like potato slices deep fried in the fish batter. Ask for it well done though. We also got the usual haddock and chips but i got fritters to go with my fish. I had to bring my fritters home though as the fish is so massive for it's portion. I also had pickled beets and onions on the side which i get everytime i go. The sheppards pie is also a winner in my books and pretty good portion. My dessert is the jello and the snowball but the banana foster cheesecake is also really good. It might also not be not the fairest day to judge the place since it was not a typical day, but they seemed to be managing it fairly well. They raised their prices for Good Friday, and I'm hoping that it was a substantial raise; otherwise, the prices would not be as cheap as other reviewers stated. Haddock (1 pc.) and chips was about $15 and Halibut (1pc., 4 oz.) and chips was nearly $20. Overall, it was pretty solid. Nothing stood out too much, but they did a good enough job. This is a great fish and chips restaurant. The lunch special is great value and well done. Be warned, this place is quite busy during lunch hours. The service is always great and the servers are friendly and attentive. Light batter which does taste greasy and the fish (usually haddock) is nice and flaky and moist. There is wide variety of side options. I've had rice, fries, Greek salad and poutine in he past. Their chips are great, well done, crispy on the outside and soft inside. They use fresh curds on the poutine with a nice rich beef gravy. Greek salad is also good. You can even mix sides, ie. half fries and half salad. I once had the steak and kidney pie and is was disappointing, taste like t was a frozen pie. This restaurant also serves beer and they have a decent selection. Heritage has several kinds of fish such as Halibut, Haddock, Orange Roughy, and Cod. Not only do they have it traditionally fried, but they also offer grilled fish as well. Other seafood is offered such as clam strips and calamari. In addition to that, Heritage also offers British pub grub such as Steak & Kidney Pie, Belfast Pastie, Bangers & Mash. My husband always upgrades his fries to poutine, I think the gravy might be a turkey or chicken base because the colour is light. They use real cheese curbs which are gooey and yummy. I always swap out fries for Greek salad. Everything is always fresh and crisp and the dressing seems homemade. It's one of my fav greek salads. As for the fish, the batter is my favorite almost like a beer batter, very crispy and just the right about of grease. Not to worry, the oil is always fresh, so it never tastes stale. If I feel like spending a few more bucks, I order the Icelandic white fish which is similar to a butter fish. But you can never go wrong with their halibut. For our main, we ordered the 6oz Halibut... one with mash potatoes which comes with gravy and the other with rice; seasoned with red and green peppers and chicken broth. The Haddok fish didn't have much oil either considering it was fried. The place was full with English decor, even at 1:30 pm. The waitress was very patient and kind. I also had the battered mushrooms, which were okay and nothing noting to order. My wife had the grilled Salmon with steam veggies and Greek salad. It was very tasty she said, but to big. For hers was $13.00 inc tax which included 2 very big Salmons, she left one, as the veggies and salad were also big. We also both tried the fish soup, which I have to say is nothing short of amazing.
