3 Piece White Fried Chicken Dinner
Mallory L.

I've been wanting to check this place out for a while, they're just far from where I live and it's to go only still. Business is located in the same building as a church, plenty of parking. It was really fast to get my food and the employees were nice. Most importantly though, the food was great. The chicken dinner was bone in breast and two wings. Wonderful flavor and juicy. The Mac was also very tasty, breading on the top and good flavor. They use below macaroni noodles but it wasn't gummy or overcooked, just right. I'm looking forward to heading back again.

Some places have the "SPOT" which is a place that you always go to and you'll never be disappointed with the food ever. For example in the ATL our spot is K&K Soulfood. Columbus doesn't have too many "spots" so hopefully we found one with this place. The taste, flavor, execution of dishes, and price point were all solid. Moreover there was a steady amount of foot traffic and business in and out of this place while we ordered so it must be well thought of in the community. We'll be back

Excellence in Soul food is rare, but La Glory's gets it right!

Some of the best Soul Food I have ever had. Greens we SUPER tender & well flavored! Banana Pudding cake is 'sugar-coma in a box' but you will die happy! Met the owner, ate the food, will come back if in the area! Yes it's attached to a church, but they are serious about the food!

Collard Greens cornbread gone 3 Whole Wing 3 Whole Wing the bomb! Cabbage old and needs to be thrown out. Smells looks and tastes old.

Cabbage looks smells and tastes old. Chicken greens cornbread great. Not as jovial as they have been.

I truly wanted to like this place...but I didnt. I'm in Columbus for a spell and wanted some "soul food". I didnt have much on my mind as far as what I wanted...so off I go. Now dont get me wrong the place is super clean and the staff.. very very nice. Now down to the food- I walk in and see that they have bar-b-que pig feet!! I thought I was in heaven...NOT So for 12.99 I'm thinking 2 trotters and 2 sides. NOT at all...the guy preparing my food asked the lady in the register how many pig feet do I get...she replied 1!! Just 1...smh...a pack of pigfeet cost $3 -5 dollars with at least 2 trotters at the grocery stores where I live. The sides portion was a complete joke...imagine a half of a cup measuring spoon...thats how much I got in corn and collards. This place will not see my coins again. Side note - the greens tasted as if they were just can collards simmered. NO seasoning and definitely not cooked in chicken stock or with turkey necks. Just plain... Pig feet - Not a bad taste..I assume because of the sauce but kinda tuff

A nice delicious Soul food like your Grandma makes. Service quick and fast and very polite.

A nice delicious Soul food like your Grandma makes. Service quick and fast and very polite. Sweet Potatoes Mac and Cheese Collards/ Cabbage Mixed Homemade Meatloaf Fried Chicken Sriracha Baked Chicken Catfish Dinner must try them all.....an old school ambiance..

Cornbread

I'm disappointed with this place! I ordered smothered pork chops and it wasn't what I expected considering it wasn't fried. Cabbage and greens mixed and baked beans. My cabbage portion was the stump and it was dirty! There were a lot of collard stems and my cornbread looked like a cookie! The portions are small for the$$. I called and spoke to the owner/manager and sent pictures. He told me he would get back to me and never did. Never returning!

Catfish Dinner - catfish, cornbread, yams & Mac & Cheese

Hands down some of the best food I've had in Columbus ! Not to mention it's Black owned ! The Yams are the best. They are sweet, mushy but firm enough to know they're cooked thoroughly, and again, really sweet. The Yams + Mac combo is undefeated. The macaroni always is cheesy and the food is typically always fresh. The chicken is pretty good too. I usually eat it without any condiments. Which I'm not used to, but their chicken is that good. Whatever batter they use for the chicken is great. The catfish was also pretty good, same can be said for the batter used on the catfish. I haven't been disappointed none of the times that I have come here. The soul food cup deserves its own mini paragraph because that's the highlight of the restaurant. All of my favorite sides packed into a cup ! For $6 ! And it will get you full too. Macaroni at the top, yams up under that, greens up under that with everything on top of cornbread ! What more can you really ask for ? A must try if you've read this far. The food here is great.

Meatloaf, Mashed & Gravy, & Greens!

As this was my first visit, I had no idea what to expect. But this visit was a first in my life! The food here actually took me back to my childhood. I got the cube steak with gravy & onions, mashed potatoes & gravy, and green beans. And of course, the plate was clean when I left! Everything was full of flavor and well portioned. The service was very friendly and helpful, and the establishment was clean, well lit, and spacious. I am returning but can't decide if I will get the chicken or pork chops. I will be trying the greens, yams, and the rice & gravy! I LOVE THIS PLACE!

$6.00 Sweet Potato Pie

I haven't even tasted the food, but I cannot give them any higher than a three. It can be absolutely delicious, but I can't see myself giving money to them again. I purchased a piece of sweet potato for SIX DOLLARS - ridiculous costs for a slice, but figured it would be worth it. What they gave me isn't worth half -- this size is pitiful. At least give two of three.

If you're ready for some good old-fashioned down home cooking, this is definitely your spot.

My first visit and I was a little apprehensive because I was the only customer. I have a motto,…read more"go where the people are," and there were no people. I looked at the steam table, and not sure what to get because I tire of spending my money and being disappointed. I ordered something that I thought would be a safe-bet...I ordered 4 fried wings, Mac and cheese, and candied yams. I started tasting my food when I got in the car. The wings were perfectly cooked -- juicy and tender. The Mac and cheese had a decent amount of cheese, not like some places that cover their Mac and cheese with some type of Velveeta sauce. I would have eaten all of my wings in the car, but I needed some hot sauce, which surprisingly the restaurant did not have. I finished my meal when I got home. The yams were delicious...not overly sweet. I will say that the wings and Mac and cheese could have used a little more seasoning, but that was okay...there are many times where I went to a soul food restaurant and had to toss food because it was way too salty. I would rather my food to be under seasoned than over seasoned. You can always add, but you can't take it away. I will definitely return, and try something else on the menu, and hopefully not be disappointed.

First, if you're not from Columbus (like us), the place is inside the International Marketplace…read more Now with the housekeeping out of the way, let's get to the goody ... After a really rough day on the lanes, we were hongry (yes, I spelled that correctly) and wanted soul food. The soul food place we'd visited the last time we were in Columbus closes at 6pm. It's a little after 7. So trusting my fellow Yelpers, I searched out soul food and Kays was very near our hotel. They, the Yelpers, as usual, got it right. Those of you who know us, know that we go in hard. Especially when the place has good customer service reviews. Our fellow Yelpers did not lie. The place is a kitchen staff by Kay herself and a young lady whom I'm assuming is her daughter? Nonetheless, her booming personality and jovial demeanor made us not care about what was cooking in her kitchen! We wanted it. The hand written flipboard menu was nothing less than charming. Made me feel like I was at grandma's where she put a note on the refrigerator saying this is what's for dinner. Don't spoil your appetite before then. Not an expansive daily special menu, which was cool, because when you haven't eaten since breakfast, you tend to go hog wild at the mere thought of food, and typically can't settle on anything. Pimp had pork chops, rice and gravy, and greens. I had the catfish and macaroni and cheese. When I say the silence was palpable when Pimp started chomping that chop ... He completely left the building. Him, pork chops, rice and gravy were in a different ethosphere. He did wish there was more gravy though. Greens were tender and well seasoned. My catfish was rolled with hands that had done family reunion fish frys for a long time. Well seasoned, coated and fried to perfection. The macaroni and cheese had the creamy, stringiness that you like to play with before you fly it into your mouth. It definitely had personality. But the coup de grace was indeed the service. I am completely angry, because we need to eat in this woman's kitchen at least once a month, and Columbus is 3 1/2 hours away from Detroit! The Saraga International Market is interesting in and of itself, but I'll post a different review on that. Kudos Ms. Kay. We're looking forward to them oxtails on our way home tomorrow and to many visits in the future.

LOVED the food at Kay's, a food stall located inside the Saraga market on S. Hamilton Rd. Ms. Kay,…read morethe owner, is friendly and goes above and beyond to provide excellent service. I have to admit that ever since moving to Columbus 6 years ago, I've felt that great soul food is hard to come by here, but hers is definitely the exception! Came on a Sunday afternoon and tried the stuffed salmon combo. You are allowed to pick how many sides you want, and the price increases accordingly. I opted for mac n cheese and collard greens, and the greens were some of the best I've ever tried at a restaurant. Also was given a huge portion well worth the price. She was kind enough to let me sample her turkey and dressing which were delicious too. I'll definitely be back!
