This guy's Gumbo is off the hook! My husband and I had this fresh tasting delight last night for dinner. We were in the mood for Creole and this guys dinners are fresh and medium spiced. He makes an amazing remoulade and his own spice mix that's just the right hit for this five star food truck lip smackin good gumbo. On top of all that, he is just a good guy who happens to feed and care for 145 homeless men at the shelter he runs. He and his family give back to our community, run a great food truck and enjoy the famished fellow foodie friends who leave full and smiling. I visit the gumbo dude often, my family & I have been supporting them for at least 5 years now. getting it almost every weekend & even following them to food truck events just to eat... then it would've been 5/5 stars... but lately the food is less than good. My typical is a seafood gumbo/bourbon chicken bowl & the gumbo is usually fresh, but the past few times it's been really soft (the seafood & rice), slimy from too much ocra & lacking in flavor. i also think it may or may not have given me mild food poisoning. i'm unsure if there's a different person in the kitchen but you can definitely tell. Now for the bourbon chicken... it used to be amazing!! but now i question if there will be enough protein, if they'll give me too many tiny shrimps (which have gotten smaller) if it'll be overcooked... The food here truly is great, they're just lacking lately. i'd really like to see a turn around because this was one of my favorite weekend spots but i can't continue spending $20 a person for mediocre food. We had the pleasure of patronizing this fabulous food truck @the food truck festival at Mayme Moore Park. I had the "Big Dude Burger". It's one of the most flavorful burgers I've had to date and it wasn't greasy. The presentation was great as well. My spouse had the "Philly Big Dude", which was just as tasty. Very kind and generous people! Mathais gave us samples of the chicken, sausage, and seafood gumbo, freshly made. It was very delicious! He also gave us a whole cup full sample of their specialty drink "Dirty Creek Water" which is a mix of their peach raspberry lemonade and Alabama sweet tea, similar to an Arnold Palmer drink! I love there gumbo. I mean the rice the mix of sauces and the meat is so good. The sad part was my friend ordered the gumbo for himself and I order the gumbo turkey burger. I took one bite of my friends gumbo and my friend never got to take any more bites that was my gumbo. I love there fresh taste. As for the burger. I normally get the orginal beef burger which normally hits me so well. But the turkey burger was a bit dry for my taste. So I kindly let my friend have that while I took over his gumbo. Worth the trip! The seafood gumbo is sooo good and next time I'm going to try the gumbo royale. The seafood gumbo has shrimp, scallops, crawfish, oysters, and plenty of vegetables. The wings were seasoned and crispy and with good flavor and not swimming in sauce. Please try the dirty creek drink - peach and raspberry with tea. So refreshing!! read more

It was EH, I say that because the wings were nice sized, fresh n hot. I didn't say they were seasoned but they at least they were flour coated. However I came for the gumbo! I ordered 2 because I pay my babysitter in food (per her idea not mine). They put the gumbo in these odd containers that had 2 sides to it (but for like sandwiches not stew). When I tasted it I'm gonna say that it just wasn't all that! It did have a lot of tiny salad shrimp that don't hold much flavor if that's what you like. But Cajun no, Creole where.... I'm so glad I found this food truck! There is parking but no tables to sit down and eat after you order. I got the Gumbo burger and the chicken, sausage, and seafood gumbo. The burger was really really good. Three types of meat in one burger, and it was steaming hot off the grill. As for the gumbo, I got the platter size but it is still not very large at all. I wish they have a bigger size than the platter. The gumbo was good but not very hot. It was warm but I felt like if I had microwaved it a bit it would be better. This food truck is only open on weekends. My husband and I would pass this daily and talk about how much we wanted to try it. Finally we were able to! The owners are a small little family and they are all extremely nice! They give it the feeling that the food truck is their dream. That alone makes me want to keep going back to support them. I ended up ordering 2 of the chicken, sausage, and seafood gumbo platters. The platters come with corn and a breadstick. Since I was ordering for both my husband and myself I also got one of their peach raspberry lemonades and homemade sweet teas. The drive home was horrible because I had to smell the delicious food the whole time. When I was finally able to try the food, I was over the moon! It was delicious! Me and my daughter went there today they were just right over on Brice road. I got a catfish Po boy, and it was perfect. I've been to New Orleans and had Poboys down there. The gumbo the food truck crushed The Poboy that I had in New Orleans. It was so delicious and crispy and their remoulade sauce is delicious. I met the owner while I was grocery shopping and he spoke with so much passion about his gumbo that I had to try it. I tried the classic cheesesteak, chicken and sausage gumbo, and the seafood gumbo. Everything was delicious! My boyfriend and I were watching a movie at about 2am and we kept going back to the kitchen to get more food.
