I didn't know this place until last week, but I see a lot of people already know of this treasure and I was missing out. This place is easy to miss, so make sure you have your navigator on. I am so glad I found this place, it feels like I am coming home, to my mom's daily cooking. So there is also a wave of nostalgia in this review. They offered my chips and salsa while I waited. Yes, I recommend this place, food is simply perfectly seasoned, good portions, and good price!

But since it was Christmas I wanted to pick up a few dozen for the family. When they said their current price I hung up and looked for someplace else that wasn't too far. I am SO HAPPY that I did that. Taqueria Los Tamales has wonderful customer service, delicious tamales & the salsa was very yummy! We have found our new tamal place for sure! I've let all my family and friends know about this place. Muchísimas gracias!

In Texas - the Tex-Mex competition is fierce. Everyone has a favorite. This place just bumped my…read moreprevious favorite from its perch and became current favorite. TLDR: Thar food, those ritas. This place has become my most recent go-to when that little voice says - "pssst....Dave....Dave....i know you hear me....you want fajitas." Admittedly, I hear that voice a lot. In any case, I usually order the fajitas. They give you a decent quantity that tastes great. The meet is tender and flavorful and those tortillas had me at hello. I love this stuff! My son elects to go for the cheese enchiladas. I don't have to ask him how much he likes them because is a super picky eater and this is the one place where he actually cleans his plate. The margaritas are solid as well and when you glance around the restaurant, you'll see them on most tables. This place is a well oiled machine. There are plenty of staff and they all work unison to bring drinks / chips / salsa / refills / orders / food -- and that food usually comes out before I can feel guilty for eating chips, salsa, and queso. I found this trick that works for me. Since I 100% of the time feel guilty for leaving the place feeling so full, I started parking on the other end of the parking lot. This allows my to burn off 2.7 calories of the food that just ate so I feel 2.7 percent less guilty. On a serious note - this place is the real deal. While some of my previous favorites have either closed down or gone downhill a bit - Julio's has remained strong. ¡Salud!

You seat yourself, and the staff quickly brings menus, drinks, and excellent chips with flavorful red salsa. There's also a salsa bar with pico de gallo and extras. I had the La Palma Special with fajita meats--delicious! I've also had their tacos before, always tasty. It's plain inside and there are some TVs on, but you're not here for the aesthetics, you're here for the great food! Great prices, authentic flavor, highly recommended!

The Best Barbacoa in Spring is a bold name for a restaurant, but if I were handing out this actual…read moretitle - this place would earn it. I have had my eye on this place for quite some time. Every time I try to stop by, the place has been closed. Today I was able to finally catch them open. When I entered, I talked to the owner. He stated that they are only open Friday through Sunday during the daytime hours. That's why I've missed them. In any case, I decided to get a few things on the menu. I ordered the Barbacoa taco plate which came with charro beans and the menudo. I will say that the food was delicious! The Barbacoa was prepared in seasoned to perfection. I planned on eating one taco but ended up finishing all three. The menudo was also great. The barbacoa tacos were some of the best that I've had in a very long time - even outside of the Spring area. My only gripe about this place is that they have such limited hours. That's not enough to ding them stars, but I can foresee some unsatisfied cravings. The place is run by a family, you can tell. They've likely perfected their recipes over the years. Space wise, there are only five table tables in the restaurant so not much room for seating. I plan on coming back very soon to indulge once again. 5 stars well earned!

Wow. I recently…read moretried the chilaquiles (red and green) from La Garnacheria food truck and was very, very happy that I did. They were easily the best chilaquiles that I have ever had. The verde was my favorite and it had a kick, but it was sooooo good. Today I ordered the flautas and the barbacoa tacos. Both were amazing and showed how elevated home-style Mexican food is among the best in the world. The owner is extremely sweet and passionate about her food. You can tell that each dish and salsa is a labor of love. I enjoy my conversations with her and learning about her culinary history. I highly recommend La Garnacheria. But be warned, it can be as spicy as it is amazing.

I stopped by this fairly new food truck in La Plaza de los Food Trucks. I got a couple Tacos de…read moreCanasta with chicharrones, the Tostadas de Tinga de Pollo, and the Esquite with bone marrow. All of the food is intensely and marvelously flavorful. The Tacos de Canasta are filled corn tortillas steamed over hot oil for one hour, then warmed up when you order. The chicharrone filling was the best I have ever had, hands down. Wonderful umami flavor and creamy pork fat. I was warned that they would probably fall apart and they did, but I didn't mind at all. The tostadas were the traditional corn shell topped with a layer of refried beans, shredded chicken in a tomato and chipotle sauce, lettuce and cheese. They held up well on the drive home (I ordered to go). They are carefully constructed so that you can pick them up and they eat pretty neatly for a tostada. All the different flavors come through. The Esquite is a corn dish, equivalent to what other Tex-Mex trucks call elote. At $12 for 12 ounces it is kind of pricey. But oh my, the flavor! (I know I'm saying flavor a lot. Flavor flavor flavor flavor). The bone marrow broth gives it an incredible richness. I actually finished that 12 ounce cup, which has not happened before. This has spoiled me for elote now. The dishes came with two salsa cups. They are more spreads than liquid. There's a red one that has a pleasant kick and more delicious flavor. And a darker one that is flaming hot, but you can still get the flavor of the chile. The salsas are an achievement on their own, and complement the food wonderfully. I wanted to try the Arroz con Leche, but she was still preparing that when I came and I chose not to wait. Based on the other dishes I think it would be great. The owner was working the truck on her own and describes her food as home cooking. The prices are comparable to other trucks for a serving, but each item is really only enough for one (you will want three tacos if you're making a meal of them). The tostadas are a pair so you could share if you have a small appetite. I would definitely look forward to trying the rest of her menu. Can't really find anything to fault.

In summary, I was not really impressed with my meal, but this is a super casual place and the prices are right. I started off with their house small frozen margarita. If you just need a basic one, this will do. It's nothing fancy. For comparison, their fresh margaritas start at $12 currently. Their salsa is served at room temp and you receive both a green and a red one. The red one was my fav. It was also the spicier of the two. I ordered their beef fajitas for one which is only $20. Let's see how it compared to my favorite in town which is much more expensive. Beef fajitas- these are your basic beef fajitas with store-bought tortillas. The sizzling skillet comes with 2 types of grilled onions, tomato, and grilled bell pepper slices. The beef is tender, I'll give them that, but the quality is low. You receive a lot of Pico de Gallo, not much guacamole, and an avg amount of rice and beans. The grilled onions were not grilled very long at all. I noticed a couple of the slices of beef were not cut against the grain, so they were a bit more chewy. Overall, service was average. They never asked me if I wanted a 2nd margarita until after I sat around for 10 mins and then even asked for the check. By then, its way too late to ask a customer if they want a 2nd drink, I guess that's how low key they are. At the end of the meal my glass of water was nearly empty too, but no server was to be found at the bar. In fact, they didn't really even man the bar most of the time with the 4 customers sitting there, including me.
