Not to mention it's got a really cool entry into Paris Baguette which just smells lovely. The decor is also very entertaining and educational! The customer service, on the other hand, left a lot to be desired. The first thing that rubbed me the wrong way was being charged $2 for a bottle of water. If I'm already spending $15-20 per entrée, I don't think complimentary water is an unreasonable expectation. It started the meal off on the wrong foot, but I was there with my family and wanted to enjoy our breakfast. Our waiter, Mauro, came across as cold and uninterested from the start. He never checked back on our table after taking our order and delivering our food, so we didn't have the opportunity to ask for anything we needed (refills, etc) or see how the meal was going. While the food itself was enjoyable, the lack of attentive service made the overall experience disappointing.

I took my mom here for a Mother's Day brunch and my birthday celebration because it falls around…read morethe same time every year. I am so glad we chose Hide Out Cafe in Rowland Heights to have our celebration. The food is delicious, the staff is so friendly, and the cafe is so cozy and welcoming. My brother was sponsoring our meal since he couldn't make it, so of course we had to go all out and order two drinks and two main dishes. (Thank you, big brother)! I got the Boba Bear Set $8.50, which comes with a drink and two house-made cookies, and my mom got their Tiramisu Latte $7.00, which is heavy on the coffee liquor, to be honest, but we had fun with it. The drinks are crafted beautifully, and with the open cafe concept, you can see they pay attention to the small details of their crafted drink menu. The house-made cookies that were a part of my Boba Bear Set are not to be forgotten. The cookies are buttery, decadent, and delicious; they are the perfect tea cookies to pair with! I can't wait to go back and try more of their fun drinks and maybe bring a study book the next time. For our main dishes, we shared the Chimi Wagyu & Frites $35.00, and the Fresh Avocado Toast $19.00. We both love eggs so of course we had to get something with eggs in our dish. My mom loved her avocado toast, and they were very generous with the avocado as well on there. The salad is a definite hit with us and included a great dressing on the side. The eggs were cooked perfectly on top of our toast and steak. The frites with my steak were crispy and seasoned well. I also loved the chimi sauce with my steak as well. The portion was huge so we were able to take some back home to enjoy another day. Overall, my mom and I had a great experience and would absolutely come back for another sip of their lattes and try another fun drink on their menu. We left with happy smiles and full stomachs, and can't wait to come back soon.

We waited about 15 minutes, thinking the second order was just running behind. Since we were trying to be patient and enjoy our time, we ended up splitting the one sandwich we received. The restaurant wasn't busy, but we had a hard time getting our waiter's attention. Unfortunately, we never found out what happened to the second order and ended up leaving still confused. At least we had six tater tots to split three each, really yum tho :)

We ordered the Strawberry Cheesecake French Toast and the Santa Barbara Benedict. The Benedict was the standout--watching the rich, runny yolk flow out as you cut into the egg made it even more satisfying, and every bite was flavorful. For the French toast, I was expecting slices of cheesecake on top, but instead it came with a whipped cheesecake frosting that had a light, creamy texture. It wasn't what I expected, but it was just as delicious and paired perfectly with the strawberries. The service was excellent. Our server checked on us several times, refilled our water without us asking, and made sure we had everything we needed. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and both are lovely. On a warm August day in Southern California, the patio was definitely the more popular choice. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Its pretty spacious upon arrival. The music is at a moderate level which makes it very comfortable to talk with friends and family. The Chicken & Waffles were a bit sweet for me. I appreciate all the patience from my waiters. They do make sure I understand my order and receive what I order. Not everything is perfect though. For some reason, I never had good experience with the host. They always told me to sit outside and wait while there's many empty tables. This time the guy obvious took his sweet time and may had forgot I had come in to get table until all my parties went inside to wait right in front of him. Me with a big 9-month pregnant belly stood there waiting for him to take his sweet time to get us to one of many empty tables. That doesn't bother me much. I still believe in this nice spot for brunch and may get dinner next time.
