A pastry chef recommended this place and we tried it! I was in the mood for a cappuccino and my daughter had the raspberry gelato. Service was super fast and accommodating. I love the ambience with the little rooms that depict famous European landscapes, I thought they were cute and unexpected. A small oasis that younger and older customers seamed to enjoy! What a cute addition to downtown Westport! Stopped by here with a friend on a hot summer day. We each got a large gelato - I picked three flavors: almond, Nutella and gianduja. The gelato was delicious and I'm definitely glad I opted for the large size. Staff here was friendly and the location is great. LOVE the little private alcoves where you can sit with your friends/family etc. There's plenty of seating in front as well. They've also got a great selection of pastries, cookies, tea and coffee to take home. Can't wait to go back! read more

La Fenice is a cute gelato shop is downtown Westport. I don't usually have gelato, it just isn't as common around here as ice cream. However, I have tried some of the dreamiest gelato when I traveled to Venice, Italy a few years ago. I know what true gelato tastes like. I've also had some excellent gelato here in Connecticut. Unfortunately, I have to say I was extremely disappointed with the gelato from La Fenice, and it could be just the particular flavor I got that was flawed. I got the hazelnut flavor, it sounded like a great classic choice. They also have about a dozen delicious sounding other flavors. I got the smallest size. The cups are tiny and they're $5.00. I thought that's a bit steep for how little the cups are, this size is usually considered kids size in most ice cream shops. But they call it one scoop here. I suppose it's fine since this is gelato. This gelato was very odd, it had a grainy, sandy texture to it, not like chocolate chips or something that's typically in gelato, like something wasn't done when processing the ingredients and mixing them. There was also a weird flowery under taste to it. I don't get it. My friend got the pistachio flavor, hers was much better, but not the best pistachio I've ever tasted. This little shop also offers a variety of pastries, smoothies and coffee. They have the most adorable little intimate booths for two with beautiful images of parts of Italy. I've only tried the gelato, I can't comment on their other offerings. I'm sorry to say this was the worst gelato I've ever had. If it tasted as it should, had no weird under taste, or texture, I'd still question the $5.00 price tag for such a tiny amount. Maybe if I visit in the future I'll try one of their pastries and a coffee. For now, I just can't recommend La Fenice. read more

Came here last night. Got ice cream and a crepe. The ice cream wasn't too bad, the flavor was very mild though. What I'm disappointed about is 1.) the crepe - I paid for what was advertised. A crepe with Nutella. But, it wasn't Nutella at all, and more of a chocolate sauce instead. It wasn't good. 2.) cleanliness- the girl who took my order was in charge of taking orders, handling money/register and making the food. She was using her hands to flip the crepe and touch the crepe but I didn't see her wash her hands nor use gloves. This is very concerning. I wanted to call about this and also receive a refund for the crepe that I wasted my money on because it is not what was advertised. There is no contact phone number or email. read more

I enjoy the coffee from here. But the muffins consistently burnt. I work on Main Street so I frequent this establishment almost on a daily basis. Spoke with the owner and she blamed it on the employees who bake the muffins. For $3.50 you should get something that is baked properly!! read more

Great gelato. I like the banana and hazlenut ones the best. The blood orange sorbet is spectacular. I loved the artichoke quiche but after its microwaved make sure they heat it upside down on the skillet to lightly singe the top. The owner did that for me (you need two spatulas for perfect control). She was teaching a new hire so not sure if all new hires know that or not. Very friendly. Delicious food.
