Carne Asada Platter
Robert E.

Been coming here now for a few years and it's always been delicious no matter what we order. I will definitely keep coming and trying new things. And the service is amazing and food is prepared quickly.

Mexi-Tacon
Kijana Q.

Not sure how this is only rated a 4.2 on yelp. The food is flavorful, juicy, and spiced just right. I tried the Gorditas & a chicken tamale and my love tried the Mexican-Tacon, a cheese enchilada, and a chicken tamale. Everything was fresh, hot, and delicious. The service was a bit slow considering not many people were in there; but the food is by far worth the wait. The atmosphere is clean and quiet, and the TVs playing funny videos was nice. Overall, I rate this place a 4.7 out of 5!

Kerry L.

The food was excellent and very obviously made with love and skill. Standouts were the Chile Verde and Carnitas. House made corn tortillas too! My mom loved her lime margarita. Service was friendly, professional and generous. This is a family run business that got through Covid and is well worth patronizing. We'll be back with friends!

lunch burrito

Looking for local flavor we pulled a restaurant out of the "proverbial hat" and zero'd in on Mexican cuisine. Actually, we are looking for another restaurant and got tired of looking for it and our vehicle happen to be right out front of La Dona. A quick Yelp review and we found it to be a popular spot. Walked on in for a late lunch, we were quickly greeted by a number of the staff. With a smile on her face, a server told us to pick a table and we sat right down. She quickly came over with menus, made some recommendations, and brought along some fantastic chips and salsa. She asked us if we wanted to try some of their "hot" salsa that they only bring out for special occasions so of course we said "yes"! The chips and both salsa's were both terrific. Ironically, we both picked the same lunch menu, burritos. With a choice of four different meats, we both picked pork. The burrito comes with a choice of beans, I went with the refried. About five minutes later, the server returned with our food. This burrito was a large burrito, it came stuffed with pork, red sauce, melted jack cheese, guacamole, and sour cream. Since I'm not a big sour cream fan, I passed. More than enough to eat and plenty delicious. The meal was hot, they didn't cut any corners on any of the ingredients. Every bite was terrific. I got a doggy bag to take back what I couldn't finish. Oh, I had the Arnold Palmer to drink. It was terrific. Our server came back a number of times to keep filling the drink up. Yum!

Camarones a la Diabla

My husband and I were craving Mexican and so I started yelping. Found this place and decided to give it a try. I love the ambiance of the restaurant. Very festive and cute. Staff were friendly and polite. I got the camarones a la diabla and it was pretty good. The sauce is a little thinner than what I've had in the past but the flavor and spice was definitely there. I also ordered the shrimp ceviche tostada. Flavor was perfect. Just the perfect amount of sour. Only thing was, I wish it was a little spicier but that's what the hot sauce is for. My husband ordered the chimichanga with carnitas and he said he liked it. Overall, this place was okay. I would go again.

$4 for a side of sour cream?
Kevin B.

This place actually has pretty good food and service, but they lose several stars from me for charging $4 for a side of sour cream and not telling me. Had they told me how much it cost I would have passed on it. I can buy two entire bottles of sour cream for that much. If it weren't for this I would definitely come back. Unfortunately, I can't support an establishment which chooses to unethically price gouge their customers.

Spicy chili sauce and avocado salsa
Robert C.

Stopped by on a work break based on the Yelp reviews. Came a little early as the severs were eating lunch before the rush. Friendly greeting from everyone. Ordered the chile verde. Received some nice crunchy chips with a chili sauce which was nice but spicy, and a blended avocado salsa. My dish came and the pork chunks were not braised or stewed in the sauce. It was poured over which meant less flavor IMO. I should've ordered the tacos that I was planning on. Service was prompt and friendly. Heard it's a good local place but probably my ordering mistake.

Lime margarita with tajin on the rim on the rocks. Chips and their homemade red salsa.
Anetra T.

My first time here and I'm so glad I found this place on my way home. The authenticity of the food will definitely make me a repeat customer. The excellent customer service from the hostess/ server/cashier/ bomb margarita bartender made my experience just that more amazing. The prices were very reasonable too! Ooh let me not forget the bomb homemade salsas I had with my tacos and my chips. Both the green and red salsas were equally great! This is a family friendly environment or if you want to have a little date night or even with friends.. the ambience is equally accommodating. I'll be back for sure!!

Chilaquiles Breakfast

This place was so beautiful, I've been feeling home sick and just the vibes in general give such an authentic feel for the latin culture. Food was amazing presentation was on point. Sorry for the late pic it was too good we forgot to take the picture first. Definitely coming back on a regular basis.

Taco capiado (fish taco)

Excellent service with a smile on a dark and rainy day. Coming in feels like taking shelter from the storm. The empty space was very welcoming. The food was out of this world, don't miss the green salsa. Faith restored in this spot!!

Gorditas to go

This is my first time trying La Dona. My wife brought me food and it was so delicious. I got gorditas a wet burrito and pazole. Can't wait to revisit this place and dine in. Highly recommend.

Crispy taco and Chile relleno meal
Vanessa B.

Stopped here on our way back home from Six flags. We were so hungry and wanted Mexican. The reviews were good so we gave it a try. First thing we noticed was that the salsa was fantastic! It was flavorful, fresh and the crisp warm chips complemented it well. I ordered a dry Carne asada burrito and it was delicious, I had to take half to-go, it was so big. My husband ordered the 2 combo Chile relleno and crispy taco. Daughter ordered the asada torta and was asking everyone to try it because it was so delicious. The rice was well flavored and beans were a 4 out of 5. The staff was pleasant but we had to ask for refills on chips and we never received refills on drinks, not very attentive, but overall professional.

2 item combo plate with chicken enchilada and crispy chicken taco. Those are fermented onions. Yum.

It was good and there were options from breakfast to lunch to choose from. Our group ordered a scramble, pancakes, fruity pebbles waffles, sandwich, and an omelette. We arrived before 11am and were quickly seated although the venue was quite full. Those who arrived later had a short wait time. The music was current and crossed both R&B and Country and was moderately playing in the background. This offered an opportunity to socialize without competing. It supported the friendly atmosphere well. Pretty chandeliers and a combination of booths and tables offered option in a space that is smaller than some of its surrounding counterparts. The menu was stellar and offered both the traditional brunch staples such as chicken and waffles and pancakes however there were surprises such as red velvet waffles or fruity pebbles pancakes/waffles along with some other exciting and unique options. I enjoyed a perfectly cooked vegetarian omlette and a hibiscus mimosa. My spouse enjoyed the traditional waffle with the potatoes, eggs and turkey sausage patty. We also had an incredibly delicious Vietnamese coffee served cold over ice. This treat was recommended by a knowledgeable and cordial bar tender when my husband noticed that the bar carried the New Orleans chickory coffee made at workd famouse Cafe du Mond. We learned that they use a variety of coffees depending upon the drink being made. The Vietnamese coffee's combination of strength and sweetness make it what all Caramel Macchiato's want to be when they grow up! However, the regular house coffee is also very good and Henry our server catered to our preference for half and half over non dairy creamer by having it prepped fresh with heavy cream and 2% milk! We were so surprised that this courtesy would be the response when most restaurants would simply say they don't carry it. This review will certainly make it seem as if we prefer coffee to mimosas, that is not true. The beautiful Vietnamese coffee drink was just so yummy that we almost forgot the mimosas. My husband's watermelon mimosa was very nice and the hibiscus mimosa was crisp and refreshing. Service here should make surrounding venues nervous because this restaurant does not use busy crowds as an excuse for tired lackadaisical substandard service. They greeted everyone that entered as if they were an old friend. We noticed the way the team supported one and other to ensure good service as crowd thickened. We will definitely be back and have already told family and friends! Unfortunately we only have pictures of our food after we had eaten half but even that is worth sharing!

Since we were near this one I thought it best we try it out for lunch. OK, the exteriors are quaint, mimicing a French countryside cottage. I have to say they've done a better design job than many others would do. Apparently, Mimi is the name of a French cook who the original owner of Mimi's had met at the end of WWII. I'm not too sure Mimi would be all that pleased with the honor, a watered down American version of who she was and her culinary talents. Walking into the interior is like being catapulted back to the 1970s. These theme restaurants always seem dated. There's a series of rooms that sort of look like a French bistro or New Orleans cafe. It's a bit uncertain and schizophrenic. A whole lot going on and not that cohesive. The booths and seating are comfy enough and they afford some nice privacy compared to a huge dining room space. Coming into Mimi's is like walking into a time warp. It feels like a bygone era. Although not much different than some current day establishments it doesn't have the same vibe. It's dated. The plastic menu is broad enough with many choices to satisfy most mainstream palates. Sandwiches, burgers, salads, etc., plus a number of dinner type items. I ordered a French Quarter Burger, which comes on toasted bread and nice things like avacado. I have no idea how it relates to the French Quarter, other than possibly the phony decor, but OK it caught my attention nonetheless. I did expect some spiciness, perhaps a stretch as it didn't have any. I got my meal with iced tea. The burger was good and didn't fall apart in my hands which happens all to often these days with soggy burgers at most places. I got it with fries which were good too, similar style to string type and made well. Mimi's is about volume, a large portion a la Applebee's and the like. Prices aren't outrageous and the amount of food per plate should satisfy anyone. Service was excellent, cordial and very attentive. I had to wonder if that was the culture there or they got the memo about all the closures. Whatever, they were great. I guess overall it was just OK as an experience. I'm not certain I'd seek it out when so many alternatives exist. Just look around the parking lot. Many food emporiums to choose from. Perhaps if I was in a 1970's quasi French farmhouse mood for typical American food of the era, I'd return.
