I love this place. First of all the whole street is filled with great bars. You could just walk down the street go into any of the bars there and they were all terrific. The little snacks that come on bread here, they call them canapes, were really good. Everything was homemade and delicious. Super cheap. Loved it.
I really liked this old timey little bar for a glass of wine and a snack. I paid under 3 euros for a glass of red wine, and enjoyed complimentary cheese, sausage, and almonds alongside. The wine was not the best I'd ever had, but it was very inexpensive so I'm not shocked by that. They have a variety of tapas available as well, and you can eat standing at the bar or sitting at one of the handful of small tables. La Dolores had a neighborhood feel I really liked. The patrons were social with one another and with the bartenders, and the bar did not seem to be full of tourists. I would definitely head back here for a drink or two.
La Dorlores is a great example of a local Taberna. Hello, if you don't speak Spain, learn a few words and phrases. The gentlemen who serve you are great. But don't be the ignorant tourist. We were treated very well with some good conversation and a number of laughs. The cerveza is cold, the food is good. Enjoy your time at La Dolores.
The two older men working behind the bar were so unwelcoming and unfriendly to us, English-speaking foreigners... specifically Asian and Black. (Had tapas at counter 9/19/17) They would talk to other Spanish-speaking patrons in their language and look at us - constantly. Their negative physical moves and facial reactions spoke more than the words we could not understand. Tapas were mediocre for the expensive prices. The taberna has a very limited counter space and a few tables towards the back of room. Proceed at your own risk. No bueno!
If I was rating this restaurant strictly on its food, I would give it 5 stars. From the moment I arrived, I knew this was a favorite spot for locals. It's nowhere near the touristy areas of Madrid, and it was completely PACKED with locals. The restaurant is extremely lively- people are packed into every corner, laughing, talking, and shouting orders to the servers. Most of the restaurant is for standing room, but there are a few tables if you decide you want to order some larger portions from the menu. We ordered their classic dish- anchovies, with olives and chips. It was phenomenal. We also ordered a variety of their small sandwich-like bites. These were equally good. That being said, I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars because we were treated horribly by the staff. It became very clear that they did not want foreigners or visitors to frequent the restaurant because they ignored us, told us we had to pay in cash even though we saw many others paying with cards, refused to explain parts of the menu, etc. Therefore, if you're looking for great food and don't mind putting up with some terrible service, it's worth it. Otherwise, I'd avoid going here.
Very popular place of tourist and locals. I am sure ordered wrong as just got jam on and sardines canape along with half portion chorizo. Beer was not bad. Saw other get chips and olives and not sure if came free or needed to orders. Be prepared to be crowded and just waiting to order. Good value for money. read more

Stopped in at La Dolores for the first time recently after a long walk. It was exactly what I wanted a place like this to be. Buzzing with an after-work crowd, in a classic atmosphere with a collection of beer steins and other items accrued over the years. The bartenders kept a steady stream of Mahou's and complementary tapas coming our way - I ordered some too, forget what exactly but they were delicious. Love this place and will go back when in Madrid read more

One of the pricier tapas bars that we came across in Madrid. The service was prompt and friendly, but there is limited room to stand and the table space was very limited. If you can grab a spot by the window inside it makes for great people watching. read more

One of the oldest tapas bar in Madrid. I was lucky to get a standing room at the bar around 3pm. What I had was only €4. read more

Memorable tapas experience! We were the only non-Spaniards in the restaurant. Servers were friendly, and everything was typical of Spain. read more
This place was recommended to us after searching the web and guide books. The place isn't very large but had great signs of a good tapas bar. The beers on tap were typical and fresh lagers, but the menu items were pretty interesting. We had the cod liver with bread and it was so good! If you're looking for something tasty and easy to find, come here! read more

Loved it . For 24 euro 3 glasses of wine, chips, olives. Eggplant, ham x2 and salmon x2 and it was a delight. Want to go back but feel I should try another place! read more

Love this place! Food was delicious, beer and wine went down easy, and staff were very friendly. Off of the beaten path where you'll get the real tapas and friendly locals! Our group of 4 each had 4 wines/beer and enough food to be stuffed for under €50! Its a bit loud but, thats because people in Spain go to dinner to converse. read more
