The service was so bad at this place that I am having a hard time being objective about the food. We called and asked when they opened. The women who answered said "8...maybe 8:15." We showed up at 8:25. They weren't open. We entertained ourselves at a cat cafe across the street and went back a little before nine.
The service was incredibly slow. Every time we needed something we had to get up and go to the service bar to get it. There were literally two other tables besides us. At the end of the meal the two servers literally just disappeared and we had to venture into an entirely different part of the restaurant to get someone to bring the check. They only take cash, which was fine because we had cash, but something to know if you go, which I probably don't recommend that you do.
The food we ordered included olive bread (cold and dry), cuttlefish in a garlic sauce (decent), a couple of mini-sandwiches (mediocre, I would especially stay away from the tuna because it literally tastes like tuna out of a can), and shrimp fritters (I liked these; they were tasty and interesting). The menu is weird; we had a hard time finding things that sounded good. It's not a language thing because I'm fluent in Spanish. It wasn't a terrible meal but it wasn't a good enough meal to outweigh the awful service. I wished we'd gone to one of the markets and just eaten our way around.
At the end of eating that we were going to order more, but the servers disappeared for so long that we got tired and just wanted to leave.
I don't understand why this is on the Eater 38 for Madrid and would not recommend it. read more
