We sat outside... note patio seating is normally for smoking, but there was a no smoking area. Odd how smoking is so much more prevalent here in Spain than home... but I digress. I had a perfect steak, with roasted red peppers and potato fries with a light mustard sauce. Dave had a huge salad with fresh tuna. I have to say it was one of the better steaks I've had in years, and large enough to share. I'll come back again for the steak alone. Also 1/2 price for what I paid at home a few weeks ago. Another oddity is that a beer was cheeper than water or coffee. Our waiter spoke English and there was an English menu. Service was prompt, pleasant and professional. read more

Stayed at Marriott AC Atocha for a few nights on the way to the Canaries. Perfect dinner after a long trip flying in from the US. I wanted something close, simple and local and this fit the bill! It was a crowded Thursday evening about 8pm but a table for 1 was found for me swiftly in the back room. And they assigned a super friendly English-speaking waiter (whom I found out lived in England and has a son who lives there). Wait staff was super busy but yet attentive enough. Back room was a little stuffy but this was late Spring so weather wasn't too hot to affect. It'd be more of an issue in Summer. I wanted prawns so he recommended half order for me as I was looking forward to the comfort food of stewed tripe as well. A couple glasses of the recommended vino tinto with crusty bread and I was in heaven! The cherry on top was that it was all about US$20!!! read more

Wandered inside for a bite to eat, not suspecting it to be so attractive. Don't let the outside deter you! We had lamb chops (not like Americans are used to but very tender leg and potatoes. I had bean soup (it was getting chilly out) and it was delicious with a couple kinds of ham. Just perfect. A neighbor ordered for dessert a decadent dark chocolate cake. There were about 30 people eating at the outside tables when we got there around 10 pm. We chose to sit inside where only one other table was occupied. I think everyone preferred to sit outside to stay cool on this hot humid night. But because the restaurant is located on a small street, there was not much car traffic to bother the eating experience. The waiter spoke English and took our order, even offering to give us a half order on a menu item we weren't sure whether we should order since we had ordered so much already. The food came out one by one in a perfectly timed manner. The white asparagus was so light and fresh. If you could eat a white cloud on a summer evening, this was it. The snails were in a most delicious sauce. I used the same sauce to dip my tripe in, which came later. The grilled octopus was so tender and perfectly charred. We were full and satisfied at the end, as we waddled home on a full stomach. read more

We stayed two blocks from this local gem! If you're staying in the neighborhood or just passing through, it's a must! We speak little Spanish and were wee bit intimated upon arrival, but they found a server who could assist us and we were well on our way. Everything we had was delicious, but especially the wine and the octopus! We're only here a few days and plan to return before we head back home to New Orleans. When it's busy- which is most nights before 11pm- the service co-workers are overwhelmed and service can be a bit brusque, but they still go out of their way to recommend the perfect wine to go with your order. We order the bacalao, the Madrid salad and the chorizo in wine. Our server stepped in and said that she would put in a half-order of the chorizo, and she knew exactly what she was doing for us. It was perfect. And as if to say ' sorry I was a bit rude earlier' she gave us complimentary herb appetitive after dinner. There is a reason this place is always busy when it's open. read more

Meh. One of worst meal I had on my Spain trip. The king muscles I ordered was definitely not fresh muscles. Shrimp tapas has the tiniest shrimp. The wine was really good but obviously the restaurant didn't make it. read more

Terrible service. We asked for a table for two. We were told to wait. While waiting, at least 3 other parties were seated as they walked up. We were the only non-Spanish party there. Seems like a popular place among locals though, and very close to the AC Marriott. read more

As we stayed in AC Hotel Atocha by Marriott (100 meters) we ended up in this "Warm Bath" called Rosell. The waiter who noticed our struggle to find a place to stand or sit immediately offered us white wine and a stand with high seat. Now we were comfortable. Within minutes we got some delicious tapa's to kill the time whilst waiting for a table. I can't call it waiting though. We were enjoying the evening from the very first minute we arrived in Bodegas Rosell. Then the food, the wine, el camarero..........el perfeccionismo! There cannot be a reason to eat in the hotel. I stayed at the AC Atocha Marriott and found this spot just across the street. The staff were friendly and they had an English menu for me. A couple of the waiters were assigned to me who could better understand my English. It was great to sit outside on the patio. Tapas were great and I wish I had room to try more. read more

Grilled baby lamb rib is very nice and delicious. Decent price and good service. Crowded but food came out quickly. Better than expected.

This places is great. Awesome wait staff, great food and very good wine. The ambiance is fun and inviting. It's the only place I ate twice at on my trip and will definitely eat here next time I'm in town. read more
