The fried calamari was very good and tender, but they did serve it with cocktail sauce, which I liked, but some people don't. I got angel hair with Alfredo sauce and shrimp, which was very good. My wife got linguine, Del Mare with Alfredo sauce, which also was very good. The cavatelli with vodka and tomato sauce with crumble sausage was excellent. We also tried the Alla piccata with chicken, which was also excellent. We got a piece of tiramisu for dessert which also was very good. It was pretty busy there and the service was pretty good sorry about the pictures. I forgot to get pictures of some of the dishes and the ones I do have we already started eating lol I would definitely return here. read more

My wife and I came here the other day for an early bird dinner. First time here. Ambiance is nice with a lot of old pictures hanging on the walls and the lighting was spot on. We started with the fried calamari app and it was really good. Fried perfectly, but it did need a hit of salt. Served with cocktail sauce (marinara would be nice too). Love that they also include the tentacles I along with rings. Entrees: wife ordered the Linguini Del Mare. Seafood was properly cooked and flavor was great. She really enjoyed it. I ordered the Pork Chop Milanese and is was really good. One thing that stands out here is that the portions are huge! Appetizers and Entrees and the house salad that they serve. We were only able to eat about half of our meals after the huge appetizer and salad and ended up taking the leftovers home with us. Service was great as well. We will certainly come back here again if we're in the area and in the mood for Italian food. We recommend La Dolce Vita Per Tutti. read more

I catered this for my birthday party and it was a complete hit! Everyone raved about the chicken parm and chicken Vesuvio. The process was easy and I will def order from here again! read more

First time trying this local place, we ordered a Spinach Classic. I would say it's 6/10 on the pizza. The flavor was good, I like the sauce. It is the crust that was not crispy enough for me. It's thin enough for sure, I just expected it to be more crispy. If they improve on this then It'll be 9/10. I would try the double dough next for sure. read more

Food is always on point and they treat you like family here! I highly recommend the pork-chop Milanese.

There are still genuinely good people in this world, and this restaurant proved that in the most meaningful way. When my friend was going through one of the hardest battles of their life with cancer, this incredible team stepped up without hesitation and donated food to help during such a difficult time. Their kindness went far beyond a meal -- it brought comfort, relief, and a reminder that compassion still exists. In a world where small acts of generosity can mean everything, what they did will never be forgotten. Not only is the food amazing, but the people behind this restaurant have hearts just as incredible as their menu. Supporting businesses like this matters. Thank you for treating my friend with dignity, care, and kindness when they needed it most. We are forever grateful. read more

In an area with many Italian restaurants, this was an unexpected gem! We had an early Rez (bc we're old) on a Tuesday evening. Lindsay one of the owners served us. She was great. They didn't have cacio y pepe on the menu but made it for us anyways, also had meat lasagna (special), shrimp diavalo, salmon along with their house salad, house Pinot and Chianti. So good! Will definitely be back to try vesuvio! read more

Had a wonderful date night last night at La Dolce Vita. Kim our server bar tender/bar tender kept us fed and paced appropriately for having a quick dinner at a high top in the bar. The owners Mike & Lindsey, also were on top of things and made us feel welcomed. It's a very cozy restaurant with a great staff and friendly atmosphere. Food was fantastic we had the Shrimp Francese that we ate quicker than we could get a picture in. Both the shrimp and mussels were fresh and perfectly cooked. The special desert was a dark chocolate fondue that I wish came with a big soup spoon to eat every drip of chocolate. read more

Food's OK. Staff's friendly and it's 5 minutes from my house. It can get busy here so make a reservation.

Their food is so good, I'm talking clean plate club every time! The owners are also so incredibly nice!

I had chicken vesuvio it was horrible the chicken was rubbery like it was microwaved I will never go back worst Italian meal ever.

After spending 6 nights on a carnival cruise with food and service that left a lot to be desired, we came home and headed to La Dolce Vita where we knew we'd get excellent everything! We were not disappointed and Angie and Kim were both wonderful!! Best meal we had all week! Thanks for extending our vacation read more

The restaurant was well decorated and romantic setting. The appetizer bread and salad were good. The fettuccine was made by scratch and very good. It was a bit heavy from the cheese. We also ordered the vodka pasta and it was good. As for the spaghetti it was a big serving and pretty average. The chicken parm was tasty and had a side of pasta and red sauce. read more

I have never done a review, but every time I leave this place I say I have to let people know about this gem. I have eaten here 3 times in the last 6 months and have not had a bad meal yet. More importantly the owner and staff have gone above and beyond every time. I ordered the special, Chilean Sea Bass, during Lent. The owner was not happy with the portion size that came out. That's right, the owner, not me. He was so nice about it and made it a point to make it right. The meatball appetizer is amazing!!!! Great food, great service, and great atmosphere!!!! read more

I took my immediate family here for dinner. It was my son's favorite restaurant. Money wasn't a concern. The wait staff and service was great. The food was above average. Nothing was given to us as the prices appeared to be average or above average in price. Again, not an issue. When I received the bill I looked it over and paid it promptly without question., Here's the kicker. I know they are in business to make money and I respect that. But a $20.00 TARIFF OFFSET TAX? Sorry people, that's ridiculous and it will only open the flood gates for others to do the same. It happened with rising gas tax's which never went away. Raise your prices if need be, I can understand that, but TARIFF OFFSET! You're not importing or exporting products, your a restaurant. Please don't respond how hard pressed you and your business is currently, that's the cost of doing business and we are all affected by the Tariff thing. No one ever drops their prices when things are good? If the products you buy are imported from Italy, then BUY American. Support the homeland, that's the idea of tariffs. I personally won't be returning as you lost my business. Good luck with that. read more

We were looking for something new to try in the area so decided to give this place a try. It was very crowded in a Wednesday night so that was a good sign. Our server was nice but seemed to take a long time to check in with us throughout our meal. I'm not sure if they were understaffed but it didn't look like it. The food was good I got the pork Milanese and my husband got the chicken Parmesan. We both tried our side orders of pasta with the Alfredo sauce. I really liked the Alfredo sauce. We like our chicken Parmesan a little crispier then it was served. I also tried the sugar cookie tini which was good. It was a nice little place and we will come back and try some more items on the menu. read more

Food was delicious and portions were big. A bit pricey given the location. Maggiano's is cheaper. Service was great and waiter was attentive and since it was our first time, she welcomed us. Ambiance was nice. Soft music was playing at first but was gone while we started eating. Place was a little small so seating up to 4 will be the most they can do to be comfortable. We had a nice time overall. read more

Went out to celebrate several birthdays in the family. Made reservations ahead of time since they are usually busy on the weekends. We had to wait a while as the prior parties were still visiting well after they paid their check. The hostess was very apologetic and offered a smaller table if we were in a hurry. Once seated, our waiter was very engaging and made the interaction fun! The food was all very good and portion sizes were definitely enough for 2 meals. read more

Parking was easy- nice lot in front Ambience was wonderful- cozy romantic- nostalgic with all the photos on the wall. Food was great- have read other reviews but we had a great experience- the salad and dressing was delicious. The mushroom chicken soup was amazing and a huge bowl. Spaghetti with bolognese sauce was well seasoned with lots of mushrooms. The fettuccine Alfredo w chicken was creamy, cheesy with large pieces of chicken. Our wait staff was kind, patient and attentive. Would recom and will be back!! read more

The service was outstanding. I forgot the young lady's name, she took care of us on Friday night 2/17/23. She was very attentive and constantly followed up with us. The food was fine, my wife liked her chicken parmigiana. I thought my shrimp Divlo was missing taste. I am hoping it was just a bad night for the chef making the sauce. read more

We went out for my mom's 95th birthday, we had a party of 10 people, me, my mom, my brother and my husband all got the Veal parmigiana, it was all sauce and cheese. I don't know what that paper thin suppose to be meat was, and it ruined my mom's birthday, the waitress never came back and asked us how our food was, needless to say we threw all 4 plates in the garbage and each plate cost $31.00 , the other 6 people said it was ok nothing worth coming back for, the entire bill was over $500, the only thing that was decent was the ambiance, never coming back read more

After moving back to the Chicago area a little while ago I went in search of an Italian restaurant. La Dolce Vita was recommended by some neighbors so my brother, sister-in-law, my wife and my self decided to try it. The place was amazing. The service was outstanding. Always great food, and great service! This is our go to local Italian restaurant. Very friendly staff.

Our drinkware were all pretty filthy. My bf's glass came with fresh lip gloss on it while my wine glass had food dried to the outside of it. There were soap rings in all 4 of the water glasses on the table (I drank out of the cleanest). The silverware definitely had not been scrubbed as it also had dried food bits. The first chair I sat on had a nail sticking up through the pad but we could never get anyone's attention to request clean anything or to point out the chair. I ended up hauling the chair to the bar at the end of the night to show them! Service was what it was. Hell, I had to follow the server across the room to get her attention about the lip gloss on the dirty glass. Service definitely could have been better, but the poor girl was over her head in that back room alone. Perhaps two servers or a more experienced and motivated server should handle the entertainment room. She was polite, but very obviously too busy to really let us inquire about items. The food was OK..I mean it's Italian in Plainfield. Cooked mostly right but no flavor, lacked seasonings. The calamari was cooked perfectly, but again the batter was plain, bland. And oddly they served it with cocktail sauce (jarred from store) instead of a marinara... so that was unusual. Blending then might have given it a zing of flavor. They at least served my favorite wine. Hopefully the glasses will be clean next time. read more

Forget all these stupid reviews and trivial criticisms. The food is and always has been excellent. The Sausage and Peppers is the best I've had and I grew up in Cicero. The Linguini Vongole was better than I had in Naples, Italy. Come here. Enjoy the food and great service. Ask for Lindsey, she will take care of your needs at the table. Love this place, but Quality is unfortunately hit or miss. Not sure if there are different chefs on different days. When it's on it is close to momma's pasta, but When it's off it is just a step above Olive Garden. Love the baked clams, but too small. Still recommend trying it and making it your regular Italian restaurant. read more

Normally I have a good experience at La Dolce Vita but this time food was disappointing. My husband ordered the veal angelina which was ok but the veal was slightly over cooked. I ordered a medium rare filet mignon and it came well done. I sent it back and had to wait 15 min. By that time my husband was done with his dinner. The steak was cooked to my liking but smothered in au just which really takes away from the flavor of the steak. read more

Love the food and friendly service from our bartenders Christine and Kim. Such an inviting place to come.

Love this place, Italian atmosphere. Food is very good, service is great. Plenty of places to park.

We've been to this restaurant dozens of times but our last visit has me wondering if I'll ever go back. Food was ok, good but nothing exceptional, certainly not up to prior standards. The real problem was the service, or lack thereof. On time for our reservation, we waited a reasonable amount of time for a greeting and then a bit long for our bottle of wine to come and finally place our orders. An hour plus our food finally showed up. The worse thing was how the waitress only bothered once to update us on when it would arrive and then joked about the wait time instead of apologizing. Big joke I guess. Her tip reflected our displeasure. The wait didn't seem to be a problem of being that busy, just lack of concern for customers. read more
