Our first clue of the quality of the food and service was how empty it was at 8 30 when we got to the restaurant. We were quickly seated and given english menus which was nice, but that was the extent of the hospitality we got. We ordered a bottle of the house white, which the waitress brought over, immediately opened and poured glasses for both of us before letting us taste, or even take a look at the bottle. We had both ordered a pasta dish and a pizza because after looking at their menu, any sort of meat dish, sides extra of course, would cost us around €20. The pastas were both good, but nothing special compared to other places we'd been in Italy. My girlfriend had a spaghetti dish with a creamy pesto sauce, and I had a baked penne with lots of cheese and a meat sauce. It took the waitress almost 15 minutes to take away our empty pasta dishes, she had delivered the neighbouring tables order and was talking to someone she knew at the front of the resturant. Finally, the pizzas came and while my girlfriend's tasted alright (mozarella and a very good spicy salami), mine wasnt even cooked all the way through and it seemed like they tried to drown it in mushrooms. The cheap house wine mightve put me in a better mood, but the service was terrible, we spent more time waiting than eating or drinking, and the food ranged from just alright to undercooked. read more
