Vanilla soft-serve | 9.5/10 | $3+ - got this one in the smallest size with kit-kat on top. I like how their ice-cream isn't too sweet. the kit-kat went well with the vanilla. Will definitely be going back for another flavour! Interior | 9/10 - the inside was divided in half. one half is for making orders, cakes, etc. the other half is for sitting and enjoying the treat you got!
I used to go to the Montreal location frequently, and was so excited to walk by la diperie on Danforth. There's an abundance of flavours and my favourite has always been peppermint chocolate dip with oreo bits. Unfortunately, a mini comes out to $3.30 as their prices have slowly increased over the years. Still worth trying though. Note: the danforth location doesn't have A.C. but the wait isn't too long.
Decisions Decisions Decisions! La Diperie has such an interesting selection for dippings and toppings. I love that I can even choose the size! Mini Cone for $2 is just perfect as a snack. But finding the perfect combination of dipping and topping (50 cents each) can be a little tricky.I would suggest go with your heart or just pick any as there is never a wrong combination Honey Lavender and Pistachio Matcha and Toasted Hazelnut Even on a cold weather afternoon, the soft serve melted quickly and got a little messy. I really want to take my time to enjoy my treat but ended up have to eat it as fast as I can! Love the concept and the great price point, Highly recommended!
This was a really fun experience! It's simple, you choose your dip and your toppings and there you have a custom cone for a decent price. I only saw one flavour for ice cream, which might be something to expand. It would be much appreciated by us chocolate lovers. The dips add an element of fun and whimsy to this experience. The honey lavender dip intrigued me but I thought it might be a bit strange, the girls at the counter asked if I wanted to try and it did end up being a bit too lavender-y for me and ended up with the maple fudge. All the dips have either a milk, dark or white chocolate base, and then are flavored. They have over a dozen dip flavours and toppings to choose from so that gets overwhelming for people like me but I can go back dozens of times and get something new which is awesome. The ice cream and cones are great. A cone on its own goes for around $1-$4 and to add a dip it's $1 and toppings are $0.50, so it's fairly reasonable, and the small size is more than enough for dessert. The store is really cute and simple, not a lot of place to sit but there are some chairs outside and benches inside for a quick stop. The girls working there were sweet, there was a line but they were relaxed and patient with the big groups, small children, etc... Would definitely come back for a cone when I'm in the area!

Although it is cool to add a variety of toppings that you wouldn't necessarily have elsewhere, it doesn't really make up for the fact that the ice cream itself isn't that great/anything special. I wish they had more ice cream flavours. I'd say it's worth it if you're into different dips and toppings, but you definitely don't need to get a big size as most of it will just be the plain vanilla ice cream.
I love ice cream in the summer time, like loveeeee ice cream. And this is definitely one of, if not, my favourite ice cream spot. If it was any closer to me I'd definitely be a frequent customer. I tried this place in Montreal, where it is originally from, with my cousins and fell in love with the simplicity of the ice cream. It doesn't seem like much when you think of the concept of placing a dip on a soft serve cone but it makes a world of a difference. The dips are amazing, and true to the flavours they are supposed to be adding a nice richness to the wonderful vanilla soft serve. While it would be nice to have different soft serve flavours I think it was wise to let the dip be the star of the show. Also, for an ice cream place this ice cream is cheap & filling. My favourite dip is lemonade, that goes well with the tea biscuit cookies. So bomb. I'm also a fan of the cookies and cream and matcha!!! I really don't think you can go wrong. PS Montreal now has ice cream cookie sandwiches, wow!

I'm not a huge fan of Sweet Jesus ice cream because it's a little too rich and creamy for me. I love McDonalds but sometimes it's too watery or too soft. La Diperie has the perfect balance between the two. On top of that you can customize with a huge range of dips including but not limited to the standard chocolate to matcha to unique flavors such as dark chocolate ginger. And then you can finish it off with an assortment of toppings. I had the matcha dip with oreo topping which was surprisingly a good combination. If you have a hard time deciding they have some already set combinations that you can choose from.
I've been so excited to try La Diperie with so many pictures on Instagram of Sweet Jesus, which I believe is a pretty similar concept. The shop is so adorable, with turquoise (my favourite colour!) walls and wooden furniture. It was at least 35 degrees outside, so ice cream was a dire need. There are full-length menus in the entrance area, where you can choose your cone size, dip, and topping. I opted for a small with fleur de sel and rainbow sprinkles. I was honestly so full by the end, so I wouldn't go for any of the larger sizes. The service was wonderful. We got a seat on a bench in front of the cashier area, so we were able to watch them make every order. One of the employees looked up at one point and gave me a questioning look with a thumbs up, and that proved to me that customer service was a big aspect here (I of course nodded enthusiastically, ensuring her that we were thoroughly enjoying the ice cream). We stayed for around half an hour on a Friday afternoon, and there was always steady stream of customers. With the size of each order, La Diperie isn't something I would opt for too often, but I loved having a treat on such a hot day.
The ice cream is 5-stars in my books. The lack of sophistication of the establishment (no air conditioning), and the lack of a cone holder with a built in tray to save drips to your hands was missing. This in my equal weighting world leaves the establishment with 2.5-stars. Since rounding is necessary...3-stars is all I'll give this joint. Upon getting to the cone, my review had to be adjusted lower, by one more star. The cone was stale. In fact, I had made some "friends" while in line and asked how their cone was. They too expressed the same issue of having stale cones. I am utterly surprised how such an establishment that spends so much energy on the quality of their ice cream fail on a product they just by from a third party vendor. Not sure if I'd return to this location just because of the crazy crowd, but when in Montreal I'll remind myself to compare.

Spring is around the corner and that means slowly added more visits to La Diperie as the weather gets warmer and warmer. $5 gets you a pretty good ice cream fix in my opinion. That includes getting one of their many flavoured dips and a topping. You can go for the mini-cone if you don't want to over-do it. They added some new ones since the last time I was here like peanut butter and cinnamon flavoured dips. This time I went with a small cup (I always get the cup so it doesn't get messy), the matcha dip (a nice sublime green colour), and the oreo crumble topping. Oh man, I think that combo is going to stay with me for a while because it was delicious!
This showed up to be one of very few ice cream stores along Danforth so we decided to drop by and give it a try. The store interior runs on a bright baby blue theme which it's really Instagrammable. The menu is written on a huge chalkboard wall and pretty straightforward with a wide variety of options. There are three steps to customize your sweet treat: choose a vanilla ice cream size, then add a dipping, and finalize it with toppings. I got mine dipped in birthday cake flavor and topped with cotton candy while my boyfriend got peanut butter dip and topped with pistachios and almond crumbs. We both got small size but were surprised to see how big they were. The vanilla soft serve itself was alright and it started to melt after less than 5 minutes. I found the my dipping was dominantly sweet rather than tasting like birthday cake; and peanut butter dipping was somewhat weak. The toppings added a good crunch to it but again, really lacked flavor (at least for cotton candy). When I almost reached the cone, the whole piece of harden dipping (& toppings) literally fell off to the ground so it was very messy. If I ever come back, I would like to have just the soft serve and toppings.
I legit love this place! First I had this was when we were at the taste of the Danforth and I stumbled upon La Diperie. It's not often that you find a good dipped ice cream. They had soooo many flavors. Hubby chose cookies and cream and I had caramel. The ambiance is quaint and cute in a pale blue setting, the staff is so kind and upbeat, they had many dip flavors and let you try them on a piece of waffle cone. If you're on the Danforth, this is a great summer break.

Update: I've always loved la diperie but now there's a better reason to visit them more often! They've introduced delicious Belgian waffles to their menu that tastes SO delicious. I tried their chocolate chip cookie dough waffle and the molten lava cake one and both were yummy licious! read more
Great place. I was one of the first to try their belgian waffles, which they toast to make nice and hot before dipping into their chocolate sauces just like the cones, and then also just like the cones you can add toppings. I went for cereal and graham crackers on one waffle and reese pieces on the other. Overall a great waffle ice cream sandwich, and the staff were amazing! read more

Noticed this Montreal chain (from some place on the internet, most likely BlogTO or Yelp or something), and figured no better day to try it. La Diperie does dipped soft serve cones. They have a large variety of flavours for you to choose from, from regular milk chocolate to lavender dip. I played it safe and went with a milk chocolate dip. I was feeling boring that day. I'm not sure if it was because it was hot, but my cone just didn't look so good. The chocolate seemed not to solidify/stick to the cone. Worth the money? Definitely not. The cone was small, so not worth it portion wise, think $1 Ikea cone size. read more

La Diperie offers soft serve ice cream, on top of which you can choose from a huge selection of dips (dulce de leche, orange, matcha etc.), as well as toppings (peanuts, graham cracker, pretzels etc.) I enjoyed having the chance to personalize these based on my cravings, but so many options can be overwhelming. Sometimes when it comes to choice, less is more. I am not a huge fan of soft serve, but I enjoyed my ice cream (which I got with chocolate dip and skor). The sizes are bigger than you'd expect, so when in doubt go smaller. It's difficult to eat as the dip hardens, so you just have to go all in, biting from the top and working your way down. I prefer La Diperie to alternatives like Sweet Jesus. The location was nice and airy but could do with a re-paint. The blue walls make for great Instagram backgrounds! The staff were friendly and attentive - make sure you watch them dip the ice creams! read more

Creamy soft serve with many many different chocolate flavours to dip your cone into and also an ample amount of toppings. It's very reasonably priced as well. I enjoyed my icecream, chocolate dip, and toppings but to me it wasn't mind blowing. I wouldn't crave their products in particular and prefer Kekou and Bang Bang ice creams flavoured gelato/ icecream over this. read more

It's a pretty fun experience, maybe something you'd try out once or twice, but probably not too frequently. The icecream base is just a plain vanilla soft serve and you add on dips and toppings on. I think it's wise to get a mini or small and just try out the different dips and toppings, since you're just getting more vanilla soft serve when you opt for a larger cone. You can't pick 2 different dips anyways. They do have a ton of options in terms of dips and toppings, so it's pretty difficult to get bored of combinations there! Personally, my mini dark chocolate with pistachios for $2.5 + tax was a pretty delicious treat and definitely added some flair to my usual soft serve. While the store itself is fairly spacious, there aren't too many seats inside, just a bench, so it's a walk-and-go type store. read more

*4.5 La Diperie is conveniently located just west of the Chester TTC subway station; it will be hard to miss the bright blue interior of this cute little shop! Upon entering, there are 3 chalkboards to the right clearly displaying sizes, choices of dip, and the different variety of toppings. Ordering is simple, and the girls working there are efficient and friendly! Best of all, there is virtually no line up! The store is of a decent size and there are 4-5 benches for seating. I had the small ($3, and trust, its big enough), Bailey's dip (+$1), and oreos (+$0.50). The soft serve was thick and creamy, and OMG the Bailey's dip was insane - vegetables would taste good dipped in that!! I'll probably be back very soon. read more
Very rare that soft serves can get this much attention. But this place is the BOMB. Cute little ice cream shop right at the beginning of Greek Town - its right under the banner so you cant miss it. Once inside you'll find 3 giant boards on the wall, labelled cone sizes and types, dips, and toppings galore. You can get an infinite number of combos so visiting this place once just isnt enough. Prices are very reasonable as well; not like you'll ring up $10 a cone (unless you create a meteor-like cone). Be wary of what type of dip you choose though because chances are if its super sweet like their nutella dip, you wont be able to really taste their soft serve, which is actually really creamy. They are slowly expanding their menu so look out for more yummy combos and variations. All in all great place for a family treat in the summer heat and a walk around the Greek Town neighborhood, which always has things to see. Only down side I'd say is that there was no ac on the day I went (the door was wide opened) and it was in the middle of the summer... perhaps some fans? read more
Ummmmm my new favorite ice cream place. I love that they have mini cones starting at $1. I was a little sad that they had no matcha dip flavor so I got the coffee bit chocolate flavor which was the bomb. They even have pastry cones. Some of the toppings they had were questionable like green peas and tortilla chips but I like that they are out of the box with it. Great place to beat the heat or have a little treat......literally read more
I went there based on an article I read on blogto and boy am I glad I did. The shop is clean, staff is very friendly and ice cream is nothing like I've ever had before. The difficult part is picking your dipping and toppings because they have so many. There are few different cone sizes and the only sane thing to do is get the biggest one :-). read more

Came here before a concert with a friend and we decided to get the mini sized cones because we were grabbing dinner after (yeah, I know, dessert before dinner!). Anyway, we got the following: - Gingerbread dip with pistachio topping - Cinnamon dip with toasted almonds topping Very messy eating -- be prepared! But the ice cream was great, so definitely come back for more! read more

La Diperie is a chain of soft serve ice creameries that operates a number of locations in Montreal. They now have an establishment in Toronto, conveniently located on The Danforth just steps from Chester subway station. Customers line up here in droves to enjoy a taste of twisted creamy goodness. Cones can be dipped in your choice of upwards of 20 chocolate-based dipping options (for $1) and then rolled into a wide variety of toppings (for $0.50 each). The choices include sprinkles, crushed Oreos, almond bits, and coconut shreds, among others. If you're too overwhelmed to come up with your own custom flavour combinations, you can always select something from their menu of creations. The cones sizes range from mini ($1) to large ($5). Waffle cones ($6) are also available, as well as pastry cones ($7). This gives you tons of options to customize the treat you're about to indulge in. Beware of the cash-only policy at this location, as well as the fact that they don't currently offer those convenient cone holders that prevent dripping. Aside from that, the service here is fast and friendly, and an overall cool experience that you should try out least once. The ice cream is absolutely delicious, there's no room for argument about that. read more
