I was really in the mood for soft serve and so my friends and I went over to La diperie. The person working there was reallly nice and explained everything to us. They had a lot of options, ice cream and more so it was hard to choose. They have a lot of dip and topping flavours as well. I opted for a small cup because you can get more than one dip in a cup. I got the dark chocolate fleur de sel with rainbow sprinkles. I thought they were going to load up the sprinkles but it was just a sprinkling. The soft serve was good but I've definitely had better. Of my friends who got sweet-only flavours, they said it was too sweet (birthday cake and kinder bueno), so I definitely recommend doing a darker chocolate or a salty topping to balance it out. read more

It's a cute enough ice cream store and generally speaking the employee was rather nice. I can understand the concept, but it's pretty lackluster. You have an option of chocolate, vanilla, or mixed as your base. You get to add coating syrup on top which eventually hardens. You have options of flavours such as tiramisu, red velvet and hazelnut. And then you get to pick a sprinkle of concept so like coconut, cookie crumbles and gummy candy. They didn't have coconut and mine was left plain which was a big disappointment considering the basic flavours in ice cream bases. Prepare yourself to be ripped off if you get anything in a cup because they don't actually fill the under base of the cup so once you eat the top, you're left with the hole in the middle. I didn't find anything unique about the place and for the price, I'd much appreciate the ice cream cup I'm paying for. Craving ice cream at 9pm? La Diperie got you covered. The best graham crackers, dark chocolate and 50:50 (vanilla/chocolate) soft serve I had on a lovely night in Toronto. There's both ice creams (soft serve and the usual frozen options) and we definitely loved the soft and not too heavy on your tummy ice cream. The place is full anytime you walk by in the evening but the service is so so quick. Don't get overwhelmed by the lines and just walk in - we did that and no regrets. We enjoyed our soft serve sitting outside watching the Toronto hustle and bustle. It was definitely a good experience. read more

When I visit places sometimes I've done my research and other times I just wanna pop in blindly. Was looking for some ice cream and this place was right around the corner and had decent reviews. To be fair this is my first time in Toronto in 20 years, and I'm not quite sure of the general vibe in this city is like the angry New Yorker or not. The just if this place is you walk in, you get ice cream, and then you can get a candy like coating and toppings on the ice cream. That's not very clear. You walk in and there is signage everywhere and it's all different and a little confusing. There are a list of flavors of "hard ice cream" and they have soft serve. Then there's a list of flavored "dips", and another list of toppings. But not all in the same place. Nevertheless I didn't understand it (the pictures of the dip flavors are not of the dips, they're of what they are.. banana flavor has a pic of bananas. Candied pecan flavor has a picture of the pecans). Anyway, the last seemed quite annoyed that I asked for a pecan topping but it wasn't actual pecans. So in the end I got a chocolate side serve with a light chocolate pecan dip, and some almonds (she literally put a PINCH of almonds). It was $5.65 CAD/$4.10 USD for about 4oz. Not a place I'd go back for the product and because of the service, but if you need an ice place with a different spin, go for it. The soft serve was... soft serve. read more

Walked by La Diperie on Bay and I saw that there weren't any customers so we decided to try their ice cream. I got the vanilla soft serve (they only sell vanilla as their soft serve option) "dipped" in 70% dark chocolate. They "dip" the ice cream by drizzling hot sauce over the ice cream, which when it cools down from the coldness of the ice cream creates a shell and a "dipped" look. Definitely Instagram-able but the taste... I didn't enjoy the ice cream that much. It tasted like a regular vanilla soft serve (nothing special) and the dark chocolate ended up being a hassle to eat. I would prefer to just get toppings next time. The ice cream was also handed to me with dark chocolate dripping all over the exterior of the cup and so eating it was a messy and not so great experience. I finally had a chance to try La Diperie which is so conveniently located at the footstep of my friend's apartment. I have been meaning to check this place out ever since I visited Montreal, not realizing that Toronto is home to several of their locations! I ordered their signature Dipped Ice Cream Cones in Green Tea (topped with rainbow sprinkles) and 70% Dark Chocolate (topped with oreo bits). The base ice cream flavour is vanilla. We also grabbed their mini donuts to go. We had those drizzled with Birthday Cake sauce. The ice cream was really enjoyable. You get a soft serve cone that is coated in their sauces. It hardens once it is dipped... which actually prevents the ice cream from dripping all over the place! In terms of flavour, the ice cream itself was creamy and had a nice vanilla essence. The green tea coating was sweet... similar to that of white chocolate. It was not too overpowering. The dark chocolate was rich and delicious. The addition of our toppings gave it a good texture with each bite. The donuts were warmed up in the oven and topped with birthday cake sauce. They tasted pretty light for a donut. Saw this place on my way home the other day and thought I'd give it a try! Apparently it is a franchise whihc I did not know. I got the small cone of vanilla ice cream (default flavour) and got it in a red velvet dip, You can also choose a topping but there was nothing I want. The ice cream was mediocre, the dip made it too sweet tbh. My friend got a brownie on a stick and it was also overly sweet. For a price of around 5/6 dollars, I wouldn't say it's worth it. read more
