Everything was fresh since I was literally waiting at the door when they opened. The chicken was definitely a highlight as others may have mentioned. Delicious, crispy and moist. But the special fried rice, ugh so damned good! Really authentic with a light char flavor that I wasn't expecting but definitely appreciated. The frozen lemonade was perfectly balanced not too sweet nor bland. The plantain was okay. I was enjoying my food so much I lost track of time and damn near pushed a tall, handsome, gentleman out the way to hurry and pay because I had to run to work lol he was a good sport about it though and I apologized. The service was one little asian man running pretty much everything except the kitchen. I tipped him great and left in a hurry but I'll definitely be back for more! read more

I've been eating and living in New York all my life. I grew up looking at this place and it was one of the greatest places I've ever been to. One of the last chino Latino restaurants in the city too! Haven't been there since it's Been closed for a bit but when it opens back up please go! Service is quick & our waiter is friendly. The restaurant in itself is small, not fancy at all, very down to earth & the patrons are mostly working class people around the neighborhood. Chicken was soggy and not crispy, without much more flavor than an unseasoned chicken breast. 3.5 stars! If you know me, Chino Latino is in my top 5 favorite cuisines. I grew up in Sunset Park and it was a childhood staple, the neighborhood had about 4 restaurants and all of them were great. They're all gone now so I've had to depend on New Apolo in Bushwick, which just doesn't compare. A relative is staying at the hospital nearby and when I went to get something to eat, I saw Dinastia was in walking distance. The first time I went I got ham egg foo young with egg fried rice, gravy on the side. It's definitely not a popular dish cause the lady who took my order kept asking if the food was for me, lol. "You like?" And I had to keep telling her yes, this is for me, I love egg foo young. That being said, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. The gravy was flavorless, the egg patties themselves were definitely freshly made but missing a lot. Not enough onion, bean sprout, scallion... I had to add a bunch of stuff to make it okay. Second time, however, was much better. I got the fried chuleta combination with ham fried rice and a side of spicy garlic sauce. Which is the MOST IMPORTANT PART. Dont argue with me. This is how we did it in sunset. This dish was everyone's favorite and it would just come with garlic sauce, no need to pay extra. Now, I also had to pay extra for them to put egg in my fried rice. The reason why I say Sunsets chino Latino restaurants were top tier is because not only was the flavor on point, ALWAYS, they also never nickel and dimed you for things that should be a given. Chinese fried rice is made with egg. The guy at the counter had a whole conversation with me about new age Chinese restaurants being lazy and having "yellow" fried rice, how they're the real deal because they follow the original recipe. I just don't understand how you could say that and then charge your customers extra for something the recipe already calls for. The food was good and probably the closest tasting to my old spots but it cost me $22 and I just feel like that's very hefty. Think about it this way, chuletas at a Dominican/Puertorican spot with rice and beans is not costing you no damn $22. I would definitely go again because the cuisine is very much hard to come by. If you get this, make sure you get the garlic sauce on the side. It's how it should be done. read more

We went to NY for a sick family member and my Puerto Rican SO wanted some good Chinese/Spanish food like he remembers from back home. He was very happy with this choice. It's a small restaurant with a few tables for eating. We got there just before the lunch rush and was seated quickly. The owners all spoke Spanish/English as well as their own language. The lunch specials were a great price, I was actually really surprised and happy by the price of $9 for the plate. I got house fried rice with sweet plantains and salad. My SO got pepper steak and I was jealous. The sauce was so flavorful that I had to steal some for my rice. Next time I know I'll probably get the pepper steak but the chicharrón de pollo looked good also. It has an A rating sign at the door which was good to see. read more

This place has been in the neighborhood for quite some time and has always been fantastic! My grandmother used to live around the block from here, so my mom used to come here all the time. This was my first time and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, the staff were very attentive, there was plenty of space between seats and the prices were affordable. This is a very unique restaurant with both typical Chinese take out and latino food. The lunch specials are not too pricy and they definitely come with a large amount of food. The proportions are huge. The food itself was nothing out of the ordinary. It was quite solid fried chicken, and the fried rice was slightly dry but did have a good amount of meat in it so I felt that I received my money's worth. Overall, the service is great! They are all bilingual, and it took under 10 minutes for my meal to be ready. I haven't tried any of the Chinese dishes, so I will have to comment on those later. I stopped here after a massage and being hypnotized by the images of their food on the window. I ordered the spare ribs because they looked unbelievable and I had craved it for a while. They were horrible. The ribs tasted old, and reheated. They were also sauce-less. I was so disappointed by the dish that I dumped the entire thing after tasting one piece. The rice was fresh and tasted fine but these ribs were upsetting. In the past folks used to say how good this place was, it isn't the same. Price wise the value wasn't there. Just got lunch here and the prices are great for the portion! It was just under $7! I got take out and waited only a bit. I ordered the shrimp with garlic eggplant. The portions are definitely big. Saving the rest for dinner. They also gave me a lot of soy and duck sauce, not sure if it was necessary though since my food had enough sauce in it already. The sauce is heavy, not too salty so I appreciated that. It was decent for the price. It seems like it's a Cuban Chinese restaurant so I have no comment on the Cuban dishes but I'll have to try it next. Solid lunch items to put you in a food coma if you decide to finish it all. I have tried a lot of the chino-Latino restaurants and this is definitely one of favorites. The employees are Chinese but they speak perfect Spanish and serve Chinese & Spanish dishes. My go to dish is the boneless chicken with mixed fried rice. The rice has chicken, shrimp & pork. You can have them not put any of the things you don't eat. Prices are very reasonable. La Dinastia is a neighborhood gem, in more ways than one. The exterior and dining ambiance is nothing to write home about, but it is really a no-frills joint with large portions of food at low prices. It doesn't have the most authentic Chinese food. The service is also below average (although I have never judged a restaurant heavily based on service alone). But personally, I find the Chinese/Latin American fusion to be fascinating, and in some sense, you really do get the best of both worlds. Their lunch menu is probably some of the best deals in the neighborhood. I almost always order the chicharrones de pollo sin hueso (fried chicken cracklings without bones), which comes with 4 giant pieces of fried chicken and a side of house special fried rice for under $10. The chicken is moist, tender, and really to an extent, addicting. The portions are HUGE, and I have never been able to finish the entire portion in one sitting. I haven't ordered enough off the Chinese menu to understand all of the negative ratings, but my experience here has thus far have been positive. read more

Yes, you can have A great Chinese Soup followed by Rice & Beans with excellently prepared choice cuts of grilled pork, beef or chicken. The wait staff is quite attentive without being over bearing. You never have to wait or repeatedly ask to be served what you wish.
