Like there's only one way to eat the fried chicken from this place I recently found out. You got to get a late night order. Then you bring it home and lie in bed. Living the good life isn't about having a lot of money or traveling the world going to fancy places. Living the life is eating City One's hot crispy fried chicken in bed, and having the fried crumb pieces fall where they may. In you just lie there after you devoured an entire bag and bask in the glory of a greasy release from your taste buds down to your stomach. Now that's living the life. It only gets said when you dig into the bag only to find bones left.

    Garlic Shrimp with White Rice.

I recently just moved into the area, to be quite honest there is not much to eat around the area, so this is one of my go to's, I have only tried two things, which include garlic shrimp and chicken wings, both which are great. Only problem is, lady on the phone can be a little rude and in a hurry, but that's like all chinese takeout restaurants in New York.

    The General Special.

I went here years. Not the same anymore. You should treat your regulars like family not like strangers. I stopped going because of that.

Their food is consistently good. The service is what you would expect from a random Chinese place in Harlem.

It does well with doing the whole "fusion" schtick without losing the essence and flavor of the dishes. Pad Krapoa Moo Krob, the meat on the pork belly was so juicy - the pork skin was crunchy and chewy at the same time, flavors of Thai spice, basil, and bell peppers harmoniously working together to bring a balanced meal. The shrimp basil fried rice was delicious, a great alternative if you're not feeling the crab fried rice. The service at Obao is always prompt and helpful, whether it's questions about the menu or recommendations, anyone is willing to help. The hostess stated how she had a long reservation list, but was able to get us right in! Once we sat down, our server, Spaghetti, came over to us. He was extremely friendly and took our drink orders right away. I ordered an Espresso Martini, and it was delicious. My father ordered a Vietnamese Iced Coffee, which was extremely tasty. For our entrees, my mother ordered the Pad Thai, and my father and I ordered the Pho Bó. My mom absolutely loved the Pad Thai! The Pho Bó was incredible. The broth was so delectable, and it was honestly the best broth that I have ever had. The portions were also incredible, especially for the price and being in the city! Once we received the check, we noticed that next to the Pho Bó, it stated that it is Michelin Recommended, and we completely understand why! We are looking forward to going back!

I requested extra peanuts and they did it! I love the texture of extra crushed peanuts and they did not skimp on it! Great attention! Banana sticky rice - one of my favorite desserts... I always find that lots of places don't give enough coconut cream sauce... and my request for extra coconut cream on the side was also honored. I'm a very happy camper. Good portions and perfect to share but I kept both to myself lol In Conclusion: the service and attention to detail... even for a to-go/delivery order was really awesome. This tells me that a dine in experience will be even better. The quality and taste of the food was also very good. There's so many Thai spots and some can be hit or miss, especially as a first time experience... but 10/10 I would recommend this spot.

Also, one of our members who I trust when it comes to food recommendations raves about this restaurant. We ordered a few dishes. Vegetable tofu noodle soup ($15)- The broth was light, the vegetables were plentiful and there were a good number of noodles too. I loved that with the vegetable tofu noodle soup, you can add any protein for free. I added shrimp and they were super generous. There must have been six shrimp in my soup! Chicken satay ($12)- I have to say, this was the one thing we ordered that I felt missed the mark. The chicken was tough and definitely not tender. The accompanying sauces were very good. Pad see eiw ($18)- This was very delicious! I love the flat noodles and there was a nice amount of sauce. There was a generous amount of chicken too. I'd return to Thai At Lex, especially for the soup and pad see eiw. I'd recommend you check it out too!

The service was pleasant, friendly, efficient and helpful from the minute we walked in without a reservation. The ambiance and decor was gorgeous and took me out of NYC for a moment. The phenomenal taste of the first sip of the Thai Iced Tea that paired so well with the rest of my meal is the reason behind the first picture I took. For the apps we ordered my favorite- Chicken Curry Puffs and Chicken Satay. The Chicken Curry Puffs were soft and perfectly mashy on the inside and had a perfect crisp to the layered outside. The Chicken Satay was so different here and yet so savory served with this soft garlic bread. The sauces were so fresh, vibrant and distinct and added to both the appetizers. The peanut sauce had crushed peanuts and was such an accompaniment to texture. For the mains, we had the Chicken Pad Thai and the Braised Beef Short Rib in Penang Curry. The Pad Thai was a great standard and tasty with the crisp sprouts and zesty lime. This Braised Beef Short Rib is where it is at! One of their house specialties- the decadent flavors and textures of this dish is something that will be memorable and just the right touch of spice. Lovely bright orange sweet potatoes and beautiful green beans went so well together with the beef and curry. Looking forward to trying more of their menu and not defaulting to my usual. Warmed up Chicken Pad Thai on the pan over the stove today in a little bit of butter, this was as delicious as it was going to get today. I missed one of the most exquisite Thai Iced Teas I've had in a while, it truly set the tone of how great this late lunch was.

The Moo Dang was super flavorful and came with 3 different kinds of prepared pork. $18 - so good over the rice! The Kao soy is always gonna be a hit over rice as well. We got it with chicken ($20). The staff was very efficient and sweet here! It does get really packed and loud but still do-able. I wouldn't come with more than 4 people haha
