I can't resist ordering from this place when visiting the boyfriend. We've ordered the same thing so many times, I'm sure they know it's us. Absolutely obsessed with their Sesame Tofu (extra crispy) which comes with a little bit of broccoli and a side of white rice. I ordered First choice my first night in my new apartment in 2013, and it's been my go-to ever since. My usual is the cold sesame noodles, which are outstanding and the sesame noodles I compare all others to. The egg rolls are also excellent. Other menu items of note are the sweet cheese wontons, which are delicious, the pork spare ribs, the scallion pancakes, the house fried rice, and the steamed pork dumplings. However, it doesn't save well. I put it in the fridge and ate it a couple days later and chicken was fine, but the rice with the curry sauce was not that good. It's like it had seeped too long in the sauce. The reverse is true for the General Tso's chicken, though also not spicy like the description suggests. I like to order delivery from here on my lazy/fat days or a busy day that didn't allow me to eat until very late. I like that: - they open late (until 11:30pm weeknights) - fantastic value (super cheap for tons of food) - consistent in taste, quality, and delivery - food tastes fresh, made-to-order and not as sodium-laden (versus typical pre-made fake Chinese that sits under the heat lamp for hours). Don't get me wrong, I still slide into a blissful food coma every time I eat from this place. But for a mere $5, I can get 2-3 meal's worth of General Tsao's chicken (and that's the "small" size). The food definitely deserves 4 stars- I remove one star because of a bad delivery experience- I phoned in my order and gave my address. 30 minutes later, food had not arrived, so I called again. I was told the delivery person is on the way and should be there in a few minutes, so I waited. Nearly an hour later, I was still waiting for my food. This used to be my go to place for cheap tasty greasy Chinese food. Something has clearly gone wrong the last month or two. I ordered from here last week and the food tasted like chemicals. Completely inedible. My Bf and I made peanut butter sandwiches and went to bed annoyed at the situation and with queasy stomachs. They gave TEENY rice portions with two large entree orders (not lunch portions or combo plates) and the piece de resistance a soda which expired 6 months ago. The soda tasted so bad I spit it out after one sip and hunted around the can for the expiration date. Now you may be thinking ... big deal you are not likely to get sick from an old soda. Call seamless, get your dollar back, go to the bodega and get a coke. I'll say this... there is no way a busy, cheap, decent quality Chinese food restaurant in Manhattan is buying "fresh" soda and not selling it for 6 months bast expiration. This means they are buying expired or near expired product to save a few bucks and then hoping their customers won't know. If they are doing it with soda are they doing it with the Bleach/sauce they doused my boneless spare ribs with? With my slimy chicken? I don't know but it doesn't give me confidence in the food.
