Rice and beans
Sharifa B.

Highly disappointed in their food. We ordered via door dash and got the 6 chicken and cheese "pupusas" and beans and rice and all of it was very underwhelming. We pretty much got masa pupusas. The sauce? Salsa? Don't even know what to call it other than tomato soup was served in a baggie as was the curtido. We did get two small containers of a roasted like salsa. There was really no filling at all, seemed pre made almost. Won't be ordering from here again.

Great atmosphere on Sunday mornings. Service was polite and food was freshly made. Don't be fooled for the outdoor presentation of the building.

Paper thin piece of fish in the fish tacos. Only this piece!!!
Whitney B.

Ok let me start off by saying I used to be a huge fan. We have been coming for a long time. The outdoor space is nice to sit and eat. HOWEVER WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FOOD??? I almost am traumatized with how poor the quality of food is now. We have always ordered fish tacos and they used to have a decent amount of fish....about the size of your palm. Today was almost disrespectful. The piece of fish was 1inch wide, 3 inches long and as thin as a chip, almost burned. For as much as we were paying I expected better. I actually asked the owner what happened and showed him my plate and his response was "it just depends what they bring me".....no offer to add more or fix anything.....just that response. It literally looked like I was eating a taco with a small slice of fish skin. It was almost $50 for 2 plates that contained 2 tacos each and also 2 beers. Unfortunately we won't be returning.

Pozole

So I ordered this poZole this didn't have flavor it taste like water with a bunch of tomatillo blended together no salt no taste literally is just a salsa verde with no taste and pork inside this is not pozole they should take it off the menu cause they don't know how to do it.

Friendly service, smells great, super clean, great drink selection, you can tell everyone here really cares about taking care of this restaurant and their customers. The dessert empanadas were delicious, and unlike anything else I've ever had highly recommend!

Best pozole ever

They have the best pozole I have ever had! The service here is also really friendly!! When: we came on a random weekday night around 5pm and it wasn't too busy! Plenty of indoor seating and parking for our car! They have their own private lot! Service: very friendly! Food: we totally went overboard on the ordering since we were sure what the portions looked like and we wanted just to taste some items. -complimentary chips and salsa - salsa here is amazing!!! - Pozole : omg I cant rave enough how delicious this was. The pozole was green which was unique but the flavor was sooo good! -pork tamale: probably the best and most generously filled tamale I've ever had! - hot corn drink : this was ok, more like a cinnamon corn soup but we're glad we tried it! - Michael got a beef bistek plate and he ate that up so quickly so I'm assuming he loved it! -we also tried this crispy thick tortilla topped with pork (I forget the name) it's yummy! But I think I would have liked to try their pupusa next time. - strawberry aqua Fresca huge winner with us! Also props to the compostable straw!! Overall: we spent about $50. Portions were very generous and the pricing is decent. We'll be back again soon!

2 sopes de carnitas

I love the food served here. It is the only restaurant I crave since moving to the area in 2020. My favorites are sopes de carnitas and their elote tamales. My mom and my son also like the quality and flavor of food in this restaurant.

Been coming to this spot for a couple of years, The quality is going down but prices are going up. The shrimp tostadas use to look like the first picture with peppers onions and more flavor now it is made with garden salad. Hope it goes back to the original.

No ordenen yucca frita con chicharron If you're going to half-ass a plate don't do it. Yuca con chicharron is no where traditionally made with pork rinds. But here at La Chuchara that's how they roll. In all my 30+ years of eating Salvadorian food in CA never this. They know they wrong for this because look at the nice plated photos of what it's supposed to look like - with real meat - they advertise on Yelp.

Best breakfast and pupusas in Vallejo. I recommend the "huevos rancheros" and "pupusas de chicharron y queso."

Really good fresh food. Their pupusas and Birria tacos were both fantastic. The staff were very pleasant and attentive.

What are the covid rules? Do you have to be vaccinated?

Solano county doesn't require you to be vaccinated to enter an establishment. You do have to wear a mask to walk in and order, but can take it off to eat. They have plenty outdoor seating. Limited indoor. First come first serve basis.

Are pets allowed?

Probably as they have outdoor seating.

After work I was starving, so I called this little Salvadoran hole-in-the-wall thirty minutes…read morebefore close--lady on the phone, all business in Spanish, said fifteen minutes. Walked in: cramped, no polish, just shelves of cola bottles and cookies from back home, kitchen haze thick enough to taste. Three pupusas landed--soft, cheesy, edges crisp--and that smoky smell rode home with me. Nothing fancy, kinda rough around the edges, but damn if it doesn't feel like a quick dip into Latin America. Worth the detour if you're craving real over pretty. For payment, make sure you have cash or zelle. They won't take any other method.

Delicious, fresh, authentic. My husband was in the mood for pupusas. I was on my way home from…read morework so looked up something on my way. It's a little hole in the wall place with only street parking. On Tennessee in the not so nice area. I was able to park right in front of the place, so didn't have to walk around too much. Walked in as someone else was walking out. It smells heavenly! No frills, old faded menus on the wall, 2 ladies behind the counter cooking. Not much room to wait. Pupusas are $4 each but they told me they were running a special 3 for $10 so I got 6 for $20. Carne asada with cheese. Yum! Was told 30 minutes and it started to get smoky in there, lol so then waited in my car. Please note, It is cash only, take out only. Before I went back in, the lady who took my order came out to me, (it was more like 10 min) with them all packed in a foil pan. And the pickled cabbage mix and sauce packed separately. It stayed hot and fresh. They are thick and full of meat and cheese. And so delicious! It was wayyyyy too much food. I could have ordered 3 for us. One pupusa filled me up ! We had leftovers that our sons came over and enjoyed. If you live any where near, and love pupusas and authentic Salvadoran food- GO!

They make your pupusas fresh and over-sized within 10 minutes! I chose cheese, spinach, zucchini,…read moreand pork. Very tender and savory inside. The outside was grilled to perfection--well done... *not* undercooked like some pupuserias. Lively Latin music played at a nice volume where you can talk with your companions. Merengue and more. You give your order and are given a number. You pick your own seat. Signs are bilingual--mostly Latin patrons, which is my usual litmus test that usually means the food has authentic flavor, which I love and look for from ethnic dining experiences. It's very clean and looks freshly painted. I was here just before noon and there was a steady stream of patrons.

The lady at the front told me 5more minutes for my order, I waited 10mins and nothing. When I went to ask again she told me my order had just come through their system? Make that make sense! And on top of that there were other orders just sitting on the counter getting cold and the lady at the front cares more about peeling mangos with her back to the front door then handing out the orders to the customers that are waiting! The manager talk to me and was able to get me my order but guess what? They gave me the wrong order. We tried the pupusas we were given, they were dry and barely any filling inside. So not even the food is good. Bad customer service which is very sad because i drove from Santa Rosa to give this location a try. Will not be coming back.
