I was looking up places with traditional Salvadoran food. This place was about 30+ minutes out from me but I'm glad I took the drive! Food was delicious. The pupusas are the perfect serving size. Not greasy at all! We also had yuca with chicharrón, beans, rice, and plátano frito. Everything was delicious! The location is near the refinery and next door to a smog shop. It's a little hidden gem. Give it a chance!

Food was amazing and it tasted fresh! I will come back again. This is one my favorite spots in Martinez when I spoiled myself for food.

EXQUISITE. If you are salvadorean as I am... omg... GO GET A TASTE OF OUR LITTLE PULGARCITO!!!! It taste exactly the same as if you traveled alllllll the way there. LOL!! It mad me feel melancholic because I crave Salvadorean food every day... please go and try it! Of course I couldn't wait and I ate before I took the pic. Simply delicious ( noted that I ordered extra chicharrón and it was 5 dollars extra) . Delicious!

Hole in the wall spot. For a small spot they have a good size menu. Tried a couple revuelta pupusas and I was craving more cheese and pork. Also ordered plantains which were delicious. Workers were nice and service was quick.

3 carne asada tacos for my son. He loved them.

Customer service: the gentleman was very friendly and accommodating. We dined in the evening during cold weather and he quickly closed the door to keep us warm. My 10 year old son was with me, so he also played anime on the television for my son to enjoy. Food: I ordered zucchini cheese and bean pupusas. They were really good and the curtido and red sauce made it better. I actually LOVED their curtido. Will come back!

Great food, great people & service. My grandmother hasn't had pupusas for over 20 years, this satisfied her craving. Will be back.

This place is yummy! The pupusas are stuffed so they don't take short cuts. The beans and rice are delicious!

They make your pupusas fresh and over-sized within 10 minutes! I chose cheese, spinach, zucchini,…read moreand pork. Very tender and savory inside. The outside was grilled to perfection--well done... *not* undercooked like some pupuserias. Lively Latin music played at a nice volume where you can talk with your companions. Merengue and more. You give your order and are given a number. You pick your own seat. Signs are bilingual--mostly Latin patrons, which is my usual litmus test that usually means the food has authentic flavor, which I love and look for from ethnic dining experiences. It's very clean and looks freshly painted. I was here just before noon and there was a steady stream of patrons.

The lady at the front told me 5more minutes for my order, I waited 10mins and nothing. When I went to ask again she told me my order had just come through their system? Make that make sense! And on top of that there were other orders just sitting on the counter getting cold and the lady at the front cares more about peeling mangos with her back to the front door then handing out the orders to the customers that are waiting! The manager talk to me and was able to get me my order but guess what? They gave me the wrong order. We tried the pupusas we were given, they were dry and barely any filling inside. So not even the food is good. Bad customer service which is very sad because i drove from Santa Rosa to give this location a try. Will not be coming back.

I believe this space was a Burmese restaurant called Tharaphu a few years back. They made a decent…read moretea leaf salad but without the tableside show. I doubt that made much difference to their clientele, but in its place is another family-run business, this time Salvadoran. This one offers more generic plates at student-friendly prices for undiscriminating palates. That's at least my take in the couple of occasions I've tried it after going to the gym. The first time I tried it I couldn't see the menu until I got up to the order counter. Then I made the server wait since the menu was so comprehensive (Photo 5). I went basic and ordered the $16.99 Chicken Platter because the kabob version was five dollars more. It was decent enough though on the bland side with rice, fresh tomato salsa, and a small side salad of iceberg lettuce, sliced cucumber, and radish (Photo 9). The menu mentioned a house white sauce. I didn't see it, but I also didn't miss it either. I came back to try them again. I tried ordering the $14.99 Scrambled Eggs with Beef Chorizo but was told they were out of chorizo. This was looking to be a recurring theme because I was rebuffed the first time when I unsuccessfully ordered the beef gyro. Ironically this time they had the $16.99 Beef Gyro Platter. The rice and salad were identical to my previous platter, the beef was just OK (Photo 10). FOOD - 3 stars...middling meats, edible but not overly appetizing AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...spacious enough and nicely decorated SERVICE - 3 stars...minimal communication on the food and when it will be ready TOTAL - 3 stars...fitting for a student appetite, good enough for the rest of us if expectations are kept in check RELATED - Exploring Berkeley? Service was super slow and I was one of 3 people there when they opened. Not sure what was going on. They also took forever to make my food. The birria was lacking flavor was was super chewy. Needed to be more tender.
