Cheap eats in Bath are almost nonexistent. During the day, the center of town is crawling with tourists, so the prices of food generally reflect that. When I was a student in Bath I was often running late, especially on Thursdays, my class' field trip day.
The bus met us outside of the Abbey fairly early in the morning, giving us limited options if we had not packed a breakfast/lunch and were running late (which 95% of us usually were). One day, we discovered a bakery by the Roman Baths by following the delicious smells its open door was letting waft out. And it was open early! It was hard to decide what to eat, but after a few weeks of trying the various sandwiches and pasties on the menu, we determined the best.
Toasted brie sandwiches on a baguette... to die for. You could guarantee that if you saw this place's takeout bag in your classmates' hands, it was probably one of these sandwiches. Even after I moved nearly an hour away, I'd sometimes get my boyfriend to drive me to Bath half to visit the beautiful town, half to get a toasted brie sandwich. The spicy chicken pasties are great, too.
Now, I could be wrong and this might be the incorrect place. I tried my best to find it on Google maps. If it wrong, I apologize- just try to follow the delicious smells and you'll be rewarded with grilled brie sandwiches. read more
