Great spot to grab a quick Cornish pastry whilst sightseeing Bath. Had the traditional with meat and onions. It was nice comfort food on a cold day.

Tasty and affordable pasties here. I'm still unclear about the difference between a pasty and a meat pie. But never mind that, because it didn't stop us from ordering 3 of them: Traditional Cornish Steak Pasty with potato and onions, Creamy Chicken with chicken breast, potatoes, leeks, and onions in bechamel sauce, Cheese & Bacon with cheddar, smoked bacon, potato and onions. The crunchy edges of the dough were neatly folded and the pasties were satisfying just to look at. I wouldn't say the filling is incredible, but these were my first pasties and I liked them.

All the pies! I got 2 mini sized ones and 1 is super filling and HOT!

TIMING: - Extremely quick - To-go style (not sure if there were seating) - A family of 7 people in front of me, but one person picked up the items and the other person was ringing them up FOOD: 1. Small traditional - Texture (outside): light, thick, and flakey exterior bread - Texture (inside): soft, creamy and hot! - Seasoning: reminded me of a pot pie - Portion: very good as a snack 2. Beef roll - Texture (outside): Thick, more bread-like - Texture (inside): meat was hard and compact - Seasoning: good, could've had less salt - Portion: perfect as my second snack 3. Portuguese egg-tart look-alike - Texture: light and fluffy - Seasoning: very creamy and sweet - Portion: I wish I had 3 more but I bet there was a lot of sugar and eggs used, so 1 was enough SERVICE: - Attentive - Quick EXTRA: - This was my only meal of the day. I had the traditional for lunch and the beef roll 3 hours later. I was very happy! WOULD RECOMMEND? - Yes

Such a surprise. These pasties - like empanadas - are much better than the Argentinian version. I had the s traditional Cornish - the meat was high quality, the seasonings flavorful and the bread/pastry was perfectly flaky on the outside and soft inside. So delicious!

What an amazing surprise it was to find a real Cornish bakery in the United Kingdom! My first experience eating a Cornish pasty was ironically in the middle of Phoenix, Arizona (admittedly, that place stays very true to the Cornish traditions and creates some amazing pasties, so the bar was already set pretty high). Nevertheless, my wife and I both really enjoyed this small bakery in the town of Bath - it was the real deal! Quick bit of history for those who don't know what a Cornish pasty is: back in the 18th and 19th centuries, pasties became popular with miner families. Since miners would spend the day covered in soot, it became tough for them to eat lunch without the soot getting all over their food. Their families would soon start baking pasties, which essentially are full meals surrounded by a thick crust. The miners were then able to hold the crust and eat the meal in the middle (essentially a biodegradable, all-natural, edible container). In modern times, pasties are still popular because, frankly, they're delicious! Whether you order a chicken pot pie, shepherds pie, or traditional pasty, you're bound to love this tasty meal. On this particular day, my wife and I decided to split the "traditional", which is essentially steak and onions in a shell. Much like a pizza parlor, the pasties are cooked fresh every day and then left in a warm display. Upon ordering, the staff heats up the pasty in the oven. Our traditional pasty was hot and savory (and oh so delicious)! We also loved the staff. The two employees working at the counter were friendly and offered some great suggestions. The interior of the restaurant includes a few small tables to eat like a small cafe. Prices here are very reasonable as well. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience here and would certainly venture back soon!

Great selection and prices! Popped in and grabbed a lemon meringue for 1.8 pounds, standardized bacon and cheese pasty for around £3, and a giant traditional steak pasty for 4.9 pounds. The bacon and cheese was hot, crispy, and delicious. Unfortunately, the steak pasty wasn't heated, so unless I get another one from somewhere else, my understanding of steak pasties will be tragic. The meringue was very sweet, but that is to be expected. It was deliciously lemon and very dry, which is absolutely perfect for a meringue.

Take away only. Average pasties but inexpensive. Fast food but local. Not a place for foodies.

What could be better than a loaf of fresh bread, warm from the oven, smelling divine and…read moremouthwateringly tasty? A whole shop full of the yeasty little buggers, that's what! I have to admit I'm a bit of a bread snob; having a mother who bakes the most scrumptious bread I grew up on a three or four times a week flour-fest and I spent many a glorious hour watching her kneading dough, sneaking tastes of sugary fresh yeast, prodding freshly proven and silky soft doughy goodness and enjoying the fruits of her labours slathered in butter that melted down my chin.....(she still bakes bread twice a week 35 years later!) I like good bread, preferably hand made organic artisan bread, crusty and floury on the outside and tasting of bread. Be it sourdough, spelt, rye, studded with olives, sweetened with honey, multiseeded or plain, baguette, bagel, cob, pave or bloomer, I LOVE BREAD!!!!!! Anyway you get the message, I need a good bakery and now I want to move to Bath to be near Bertinet because I love their bread...not that bread is all they do, no, they do cakes too, and donuts and pasties and sausage rolls and quiche and meringues and so many other baked bits of joy that I could almost weep with happiness. Let me explain, we were in Bath for a weekend trip and my mum (also a bread nerd) found this little gem of a shop whilst I was exploring the Roman Baths, she was lured in by the window display of lemon tarts subliminally beckoning her to the door, on purchasing one and seeing the vast array of treats on offer she decided we must come back to sample some more in the cafe upstairs. The lemon tart was sublime (she didn't get me one so I'll have to take her word for it) and the next day after waiting a suitable time from breakfast, we wandered in to a small but adequate room upstairs. There was only one table for 4 left unfortunately right by the door to the toilets which was a bit of a pain but we settled in to peruse the menu. We ordered teas and coffees and selected soup of the day (carrot and coriander) a cheese platter of Homewood's Old Demdike ewes cheese, Neston Park's Baronet and Trethowen's Gorwydd Caerphilly and a toasted teacake which was unavailable so we went for toasted brioche instead. After a 10 minute wait we got our drinks but to be honest it didn't seem that long as we were chatting and then a further 15 minutes passed before the food arrived and it was glorious. The soup came with a large slice of sourdough bread which you could toast yourself in the tabletop toaster and it was delicious to the extreme. Sweet carrotty goodness with a lemony blast of coriander in a soup the texture of the softest fur you can imagine. The bread was perfection, chewy and dense without being tough and doughy with the hint of sourness you'd expect and went so well with the soup. The cheeseboard also came with sourdough slices, the cheese pieces were generous and utterly gorgeous and the salad and tomato and onion marmalade were an ideal partner to the cheeses. We indulged in a couple of desserts, cloud meringue with berry compote and an intriguing salted butter caramel tartine which was explained as toasted sourdough with a caramel topping. The tartine was simply fantastic, just enough of a salty tang to cut through the insense caramel sugar rush and combined with the sourdough was an experience I crave for again, preferably on a weekly basis. The disappointment came with the meringue. It was solid. We expected at least a chewy centre or better still a featherlight mousse of airiness but sadly no, the ice cream was good and berry compote was fine not too sweet, not too sharp but the meringue gets a big thumbs down...change the name from cloud meringue or buy them in from M&S cos they're better! I also took home a sourdough loaf (it didn't last the evening), a pecan pie for me and mr z and a cinnamon brioche with salted caramel and walnut glaze which were pretty darn good too. The website has a mailorder shop...can I have a regular delivery please :D

The bakery was empty, and poorly stocked (no Bath buns at 10am...wtf?). The cafe was closed with a sign saying it was full. We queried this and instead of being told cheerily that it was a 10-15 minute wait only a monosyllabic answer from the surly shop girl - "it's full". Fine. Whatever.

They also serve coffee and make specialty drinks, juices and smoothies. I stopped in to get a smoothie to have while walking around town. They had a few different flavor combinations but I decided to go with the berry smoothie. The kind gentleman at the counter took my order and I looked around while I waited. They had many foods sitting out on the side, it looked like you could choose a main and some sides yourself for a specified price. The food all looked very good. The smoothie was fine, unfortunately it wasn't cold which was the thing I wanted most. This may just be a thing in Europe but for me, I like a cold smoothie. They have several tables outside to sit and enjoy your food. There is also seating on the second floor of the eatery. The wait was a little long, about 10 minutes for two smoothies. There was no other food or drinks that came out of the kitchen so I am not quite sure why it took that long. Wasn't a terrible wait, but there was nowhere to sit while waiting.

When I was a student in Bath I was often running late, especially on Thursdays, my class' field trip day. The bus met us outside of the Abbey fairly early in the morning, giving us limited options if we had not packed a breakfast/lunch and were running late (which 95% of us usually were). One day, we discovered a bakery by the Roman Baths by following the delicious smells its open door was letting waft out. And it was open early! It was hard to decide what to eat, but after a few weeks of trying the various sandwiches and pasties on the menu, we determined the best. Toasted brie sandwiches on a baguette... to die for. You could guarantee that if you saw this place's takeout bag in your classmates' hands, it was probably one of these sandwiches. Even after I moved nearly an hour away, I'd sometimes get my boyfriend to drive me to Bath half to visit the beautiful town, half to get a toasted brie sandwich. The spicy chicken pasties are great, too. Now, I could be wrong and this might be the incorrect place. I tried my best to find it on Google maps. If it wrong, I apologize- just try to follow the delicious smells and you'll be rewarded with grilled brie sandwiches.
