"Cloudy lemonade" (made with sparkling water!) and half of a cherry almond croissant
MaryLinda W.

When we first arrived at lunchtime, they were sold out of Cornish pasties but more were in the process if we could wait. Because we had a timed entry at the Roman baths, we couldn't wait. We returned to the shop after our tour and had cloudy lemonades and split a delicious cherry almond croissant. There is seating out front and the pigeons clean up any dropped crumbs!

Pasties!

Pretty good pasties. We're used to the West Cornwall variety, which has shops all over the UK. But I believe this one is standalone. It's small but does have a bit of indoor seating (as well as some tables under a tarp outside). Pasty options include steak and Stilton, traditional, vegetarian, and a beef and chipotle that I would have tried if I was coming back. Piping hot, flaky crust, good fillings. No complaints!

Sausage Pasty

We stopped in while in Bath and grabbed a Sausage Pasty and a chocolate pastry. Both were delicious. You could tell the place was popular as the displays were almost empty and they were having trouble keeping up with the line of people and the demand. I would eat here again if in Bath.

You'll love any pasty you get here!

I'm absolutely smitten with The Cornish Bakery. And if lived in Bath I would be here every.single.morning (and my biggest regret the last time I visited the city is that I didn't stop daily for treats - which is actually what my mom and I talked about on our train ride back to Paddington Station). I totally understand it's part of a larger chain, but I don't care, because I'm in love. Their "freshly baked before the seagulls wake" motto is spot on: this is *the* place to go for sweet or savory pasties (like the award winning bacon-leek-cheese, curried parsnip, or apple rhubarb for example), buttery pastries (pain au raisin, apricot croissants, chocolate torsade, etc), hand roasted coffee, and perfect cups of tea. They run out of eats as the day progresses, so be sure to show up early for all the goodies they have (also, on the space itself: it's relatively small, atmospherically charming [but what wouldn't be with the Baths and Abbey literally just steps outside], and the staff does an exceptional job at turning out food and drinks in a timely manner - also, they get to know you after just a few stops in!). My favorite foods here (that I genuinely wish I could eat every day): 1. The cheese and onion pasty 2. The cherry & almond croissant There is nothing in the world like either of those two items: the cheese and onion pasty is consistently baked to golden perfection on the outside; the inside is bursting with gooey cheese and sweet chunks of onion. The cherry & almond croissant is flaky, buttery, and it melts in your mouth; every bite has a lovely almond essence and the jammy cherry swirled throughout makes the whole thing just the absolute best croissant in the world. (((Please, please, please ship to me Cornish Bakery. Please. Please, please.))) Every day I will think about these delicious things until the next time I'm in Bath. Until we meet again, Cornish Bakery. Until we meet again.

Thai chicken

Loved this little shop! I got the Thai chicken & it was well seasoned and very delicious, plus the staff is super friendly. Good price, too. 5.80 for a pasty and a bottle of water.

My sister and I went on a tour to Stonehenge and our tour stopped off in Bath for a few hours. Our guide suggested that we stop at the Cornish Bakery since the Pasties were amazing. My sister and I were hungry so we decided to stop in. At first glance they looked amazing and considering the size they were well priced. We both opted for the Bacon, Leek & Cheese. We grabbed a seat nearby and opened up our Pasties. The crust was very good and I really enjoyed it but that's about it. The inside of the pasty was fully of veggies, I tasted no bacon or cheese. I ended up just eating the crust and throwing the rest away. A pure veggies pasty was not what I had wanted and did not enjoy the filling. If you are interested in trying a pasty, these are decent but I think I chose the wrong filling, maybe try something else.

We loved the fresh pasties and the outstanding coffee. The ambiance was tremendous as we sat on the street listening to a street performer and taking in the sites of the abbey. Our friends had desert as well. The carrot cake was moist and delicious. It was an inexpensive lunch that was well worth the price. I will return if we come back to Bath.

Filled with pork, apples, and Brie

My first dabble into London meat pies. Very good!!! A nice, flaky outside crust, stuffed with pork, apples, and Brie cheese. They're basically like a pot pie, but hand held. A lot of British food is hit and miss, this one was a hit.

Nice interior and the traditional bread is good! I rated them 1, just read my review.

First time in the city of Bath and I was hungry so I tried this very nice looking bakery. When my mom and I went in, there is a guy making coffees, so we waited until he finish, but as I turned there is no customer and he just ignored us. Then a white lady came in and he entertained her, so my mom ask him if he could take our order, he said he is busy making coffee. First, coffee for whom?! Second, we were here first than this white lady who ordered a bread (btw im asian). So I started to get annoyed and ask him if is he going to take our order, he said yes but he has to do coffee first. Then a woman came out of nowhere and started asking our order. I know it might not be the race but I don't know what else. The two stars is for the traditional bread, I could have rate them 5 because the bread is so good and the interior was nice, but the employees are the downside of this cafe.

The Original pasty
Eileen C.

Our tour guide recommended that we stop here to pick up a few pasties before our walking tour. We got the Thai Chicken and The Original. Both were tasty, but we prefer the Original. The Thai Chicken pasty had a subtle coconut essence and had a small kick. The Original was rich and flavorful. We loved it so much that we came back for another before leaving! This is close to the Roman Baths.

the food was amazing . lucking I got the last meat and potatoes Pastis and it was delicious my boyf had the bacon, cheese and leeks . we also got some pasteries a lemon and blueberry pastry and the cinnamon role . we roped it off with a strawberry shake. it was the best strawberry shake I have ever had. the staff was sooo nice and friendly. i took a scone, jam and clotted cream to go for the next day and those were all delicious also .

Heaven aka Cornwall pastry.

The pasty itself was packed with flavor, and I felt like I could have eaten about ten of them (had there been room in my stomach).

What could be better than a loaf of fresh bread, warm from the oven, smelling divine and…read moremouthwateringly tasty? A whole shop full of the yeasty little buggers, that's what! I have to admit I'm a bit of a bread snob; having a mother who bakes the most scrumptious bread I grew up on a three or four times a week flour-fest and I spent many a glorious hour watching her kneading dough, sneaking tastes of sugary fresh yeast, prodding freshly proven and silky soft doughy goodness and enjoying the fruits of her labours slathered in butter that melted down my chin.....(she still bakes bread twice a week 35 years later!) I like good bread, preferably hand made organic artisan bread, crusty and floury on the outside and tasting of bread. Be it sourdough, spelt, rye, studded with olives, sweetened with honey, multiseeded or plain, baguette, bagel, cob, pave or bloomer, I LOVE BREAD!!!!!! Anyway you get the message, I need a good bakery and now I want to move to Bath to be near Bertinet because I love their bread...not that bread is all they do, no, they do cakes too, and donuts and pasties and sausage rolls and quiche and meringues and so many other baked bits of joy that I could almost weep with happiness. Let me explain, we were in Bath for a weekend trip and my mum (also a bread nerd) found this little gem of a shop whilst I was exploring the Roman Baths, she was lured in by the window display of lemon tarts subliminally beckoning her to the door, on purchasing one and seeing the vast array of treats on offer she decided we must come back to sample some more in the cafe upstairs. The lemon tart was sublime (she didn't get me one so I'll have to take her word for it) and the next day after waiting a suitable time from breakfast, we wandered in to a small but adequate room upstairs. There was only one table for 4 left unfortunately right by the door to the toilets which was a bit of a pain but we settled in to peruse the menu. We ordered teas and coffees and selected soup of the day (carrot and coriander) a cheese platter of Homewood's Old Demdike ewes cheese, Neston Park's Baronet and Trethowen's Gorwydd Caerphilly and a toasted teacake which was unavailable so we went for toasted brioche instead. After a 10 minute wait we got our drinks but to be honest it didn't seem that long as we were chatting and then a further 15 minutes passed before the food arrived and it was glorious. The soup came with a large slice of sourdough bread which you could toast yourself in the tabletop toaster and it was delicious to the extreme. Sweet carrotty goodness with a lemony blast of coriander in a soup the texture of the softest fur you can imagine. The bread was perfection, chewy and dense without being tough and doughy with the hint of sourness you'd expect and went so well with the soup. The cheeseboard also came with sourdough slices, the cheese pieces were generous and utterly gorgeous and the salad and tomato and onion marmalade were an ideal partner to the cheeses. We indulged in a couple of desserts, cloud meringue with berry compote and an intriguing salted butter caramel tartine which was explained as toasted sourdough with a caramel topping. The tartine was simply fantastic, just enough of a salty tang to cut through the insense caramel sugar rush and combined with the sourdough was an experience I crave for again, preferably on a weekly basis. The disappointment came with the meringue. It was solid. We expected at least a chewy centre or better still a featherlight mousse of airiness but sadly no, the ice cream was good and berry compote was fine not too sweet, not too sharp but the meringue gets a big thumbs down...change the name from cloud meringue or buy them in from M&S cos they're better! I also took home a sourdough loaf (it didn't last the evening), a pecan pie for me and mr z and a cinnamon brioche with salted caramel and walnut glaze which were pretty darn good too. The website has a mailorder shop...can I have a regular delivery please :D

I had high hopes, but never got to try…read more We came in on a Sunday morning, to not be greeted by an employee who definitely did not want to be there. The bakery was empty, and poorly stocked (no Bath buns at 10am...wtf?). The cafe was closed with a sign saying it was full. We queried this and instead of being told cheerily that it was a 10-15 minute wait only a monosyllabic answer from the surly shop girl - "it's full". Fine. Whatever.

They also serve coffee and make specialty drinks, juices and smoothies. I stopped in to get a smoothie to have while walking around town. They had a few different flavor combinations but I decided to go with the berry smoothie. The kind gentleman at the counter took my order and I looked around while I waited. They had many foods sitting out on the side, it looked like you could choose a main and some sides yourself for a specified price. The food all looked very good. The smoothie was fine, unfortunately it wasn't cold which was the thing I wanted most. This may just be a thing in Europe but for me, I like a cold smoothie. They have several tables outside to sit and enjoy your food. There is also seating on the second floor of the eatery. The wait was a little long, about 10 minutes for two smoothies. There was no other food or drinks that came out of the kitchen so I am not quite sure why it took that long. Wasn't a terrible wait, but there was nowhere to sit while waiting.

When I was a student in Bath I was often running late, especially on Thursdays, my class' field trip day. The bus met us outside of the Abbey fairly early in the morning, giving us limited options if we had not packed a breakfast/lunch and were running late (which 95% of us usually were). One day, we discovered a bakery by the Roman Baths by following the delicious smells its open door was letting waft out. And it was open early! It was hard to decide what to eat, but after a few weeks of trying the various sandwiches and pasties on the menu, we determined the best. Toasted brie sandwiches on a baguette... to die for. You could guarantee that if you saw this place's takeout bag in your classmates' hands, it was probably one of these sandwiches. Even after I moved nearly an hour away, I'd sometimes get my boyfriend to drive me to Bath half to visit the beautiful town, half to get a toasted brie sandwich. The spicy chicken pasties are great, too. Now, I could be wrong and this might be the incorrect place. I tried my best to find it on Google maps. If it wrong, I apologize- just try to follow the delicious smells and you'll be rewarded with grilled brie sandwiches.
