This review is long overdue as I was here in January but I loved the hell out of this place. It was right by our hotel so we walked to breakfast and had a great meal. The ladies working in the shop were nice but the food was nothing I would recommend or have again. The avacado on my toast was expired to the point where I thought sour cream was on my toast but it was just the bad avacado. I also ordered a salad and there were leaves that had gone bad and were yellow. To finish it off I had a lemon cake that was dry :( I was really hopeful by the pictures of food on their menu, but it did not taste as glamourous. read more

Got off a plane from DC to Heathrow, train to Paddington, train to Bath, and somewhat ironically the first place I end up at for a late breakfast is called the Boston Tea Party. It's a quaint little cafe in the heart of Bath with a menu I would best describe as a British take on American food. Seating inside is scarce and in demand, but there is a decent amount outside if the weather is nice. Staff is super friendly. I was originally told my four would be about a 40 minute wait, but it came out in 15- much to this weary traveler's appreciation. The ham and cheese toasty (basically a grilled ham and cheese) was perfectly browned and melted. I'm not usually one for coffee, but the iced mocha was just what I needed for the jet lag. Look forward to coming back when I'm back in Bath in a few months. read more

This particular shop is one of just seven family run West Country cafe's who pride themselves on using local produce and fresh ingredients - all served at fair prices. As soon as you walk through The Boston Tea Party's blue doors your senses will be lifted with the smell of coffee beans grinding and Panini's toasting. It's probably not the best place if you're looking for a quick caffeine fix as I often have to wait a while before my order is read (giving me time to pounce on the next available chair). The reception at our hotel recommended this spot to us and I think we went nearly every day! It seems to be in the heart of Bath - great people watching, outdoor seating, food is yummy, coffee is good, too. I even got to request oat milk. I'm not sure if the other people that have reviewed this place went to some 3rd dimension where everything was the opposite of my experience there yesterday, but suffice to say I haven't been as disappointed about a place to eat since I went to Hannibal Lector's house for an evening meal. Whilst Jenni D, the first person to review this place on Yelp! is correct in her statement, "would be more popular if they weren't so busy" that doesn't take into consideration the terrible food and inept staff. After a night out in Bath on Saturday, we had it on high recommendation that 'Boston Tea Party' was the best place to sort out those sore heads. We were lucky enough to squeeze onto a table to house the 7 wounded soldiers. It was soon apparent that what we had failed to realise was that we should have brought our rugby boots as trying to place an order was about as much fun as a ruck. I think I lost a show in the process. The queuing system is retarded. Rather than having menus on each table for people to make informed decisions about their food and drinks, you are forced to gaze up at chalkboard full of copy, which ultimately overwhelms you, you make a rushed decision on your food because you don't want to be stood in the massive queue backing out of the door any longer. After eventually ordering the food and taking an elbow to the face, the following events occurred and exacerbated the already traumatic experience at the BTP. After about 5 minutes the less than appetising 'signature' burgers arrived for my two friends Harry and Glyn. They looked undercooked and there was a healthy slice of cold cheese slapped on the top on the meat. I would have liked to have said that the potato wedges saved the dishes, but no... they didn't. They were wrong. Then we waited.... ... and waited.... 40 minutes later my friend Margot's food arrived. Well, I use the nomenclature "food" very loosely. It was a soggy bap with a cold mushroom and some egg in it. Margot is the type of person to highlight sub-standard food, so she highlighted this to a member of staff, who said a re-fund would be fine, but if she wanted a something else she would be forced to get herself padded up for another line-out at the counter. Ridiculous. She decided to starve instead. Another 10 minutes past and by this point I was eyeing up each one of my friends to assess which one would notice least if I took a man-sized bite out of one of their arms. The 'Western Supreme Breakfast' (I think that was its name) arrived and I was suitably saddened at it's debarkation on my table. In my head I had imagined a breakfast fit for a King, featuring large sausages and food in so much abundance I would have needed a shovel to deal with the sheer volume of beans and toast. There was none of this. It was the kind of breakfast that I would have been embarrassed to hand out for free to all the hobo's under Waterloo bridge. £6.00 for pap? No thanks. It was at this point in the day that we all wished 2 things. a. We had not gone out the night before and b. Why oh why didn't we go to the Jazz Bar just across the road. Much like the sexual act of the same name the Boston Tea Party left me violated and slightly perplexed as to how I had managed to put myself in such an awkward state of affairs. Unfortunately Bath was let down by this minor blip in a fantastic weekend. Should you find yourself wandering the streets of Bath and wish to go somewhere with great food, drinks and service... Came here for lunch with a friend and had a really enjoyable experience. I had the sweet potato salad with couscous (and chips of course). The serving was super generous! And really well made as well. My friend has the super salad and we both had blueberry and ginger smoothies (recommended by the staff) and they were really delicious. We sat inside, you can sit outside which overlooks the square its on, and thought the place had a really night atmosphere. The staff were really nice and friendly, had a little conversation with the guy on the till when we were ordering which is always nice, and they come and check on your while your eating to make sure everything ok. Wonderful place! We went for a light dinner and tea and it was all delicious. Joe was at the counter and he was very welcoming and gave us great recommendations. The counter was packed with fresh baked cakes, scones, pastries , with an excellent Breakfast, Brunch Mains Menu. Very busy with a steady stream of customers ordering breakfast, Brunch or coffee and a cake. We ordered for brunch, Smoked Salmon, Scrambled Eggs, and Avocado on Sourdough toast. This is the same building as hte old Scoffs cafe on Kingsmead Square. They do lovely coffee, hot chocolate and great cakes. I have never eaten off the hot food menu so can't pass comment on that. Have always had a good experience of the food and staff have always been polite and friendly, it is well positioned and is a bit of a sun trap in the morning. Only issue is the seating can be difficult in good weather but worth the wait for a seat outside. Have used on lots of occasions with my kids on the way to the cinema across the way. read more

Lovely outside seating area, watching the world go by under a HUGE tree that they put sparly lights in, whilst drinking your hot drink from an extensive menu. Also good for a snack with your drink, and buggy-friendly. Good quality drinks in a really nice place. I really like the hot chocolate. read more

This is a cosy little coffee place on the corner of busy Kingsmead Square in the centre of Bath. They do really good coffee and amazing cakes and sweet things!!! Be warned though, it is rather overpriced to say the least which kind of leaves a sour taste! They also serve snacks such as panini's and sandwiches, salads and things like that. The food is really tasty and it's a nice atmosphere too so it's worth going to, as long as you don't mind paying a bit over the odds for what you get. They also do brilliant breakfast baps like egg and sausage and they are great quality really sort out the hangover!! read more

I really like this place, particularly in summer when you can sit outside and enjoy watching the people walking past. The drinks are lovely and the food is very nice too, the prices are quite high, but could be overlooked as no other cafe seems to offer the same type of menu and experience as the Boston Tea Party does. One little problem i had was that i had to wait nearly 10 minutes for my drink although that may have been because it was being made by a trainee under supervision. read more

As everyone says, it gets crowded pretty easily at BTP. The coffee is pretty good, and the range of teas impressive. The food is locally sourced, but even so the prices seem pretty steep to me. Service is not the quickest by any means, and I've sometimes been under the impression that I get served after someone else who has ordered after me. I must be mistaken... BTP is one of those places that is trendy because it's trendy. It doesn't boast the best or cheapest coffee, it's desperately in need of more space, but it has that certain something that makes me (for one) keep going back when I'm in the area. To be honest, the Jazz Cafe across the square has better service, but it doesn't have the crowded trendiness of BTP. You have been warned! read more
