I ordered a seafood boil to go for the first time. The food was absolutely delicious. I would definitely go back again, but I would sit there in person so I don't waste anytime getting to the goodies. The sauce... phenomenal, the crab...Phenomenal, the shrimp...PHENOMENAL. Great pricing, great customer service. Thank you! Happy Eatings! read more

LA Crab Shack - house blend snow crabs, mussels, crawfish, and head on shrimp - Cajun/Creole Near Me - Mesa, Arizona

This is along the same lines as all the other boiled crustacean vendors complete with corn on the cob being available to add to your bag of goodies. As with most others, you decide what is going into your bag and what extras you would like including corn or potatoes. Fried items are available including shrimp and clams. Unfortunately the clams are only the tails and no bellies which makes for a very chewy meal. Service is excellent as is cleanliness. read more

Phil was the best server! amazing food and atmosphere!! Great pricing and a clean restaurant!

Came in for takeout, staff is extremely helpful. Phil assisted me with the best accommodations. Fav spot for seafood, I return always. Kad

Reasonable food for the price and convenience. It's hard to find seafood in the desert but this was decent. Staff was friendly, clean place. I got 6 oysters, mussels, clams. The potatoes in the boil were really good and tender. read more

So, if you've been to Angry Crab - this place is the upgrade. Not in every way, but in the ways that count... in the crab and seafood. This place never misses for us and the seasonings always hit. Market prices are what they be, but it's worth it to get quality crab. We are exclusive fans of the snow crab and shrimp with no heads, delicious! Location is a hole in the wall, but parking is never an issue. TV's around to watch any games going on. Drinks are cheap, but compliment what they offer. It's a family favorite that we come back to over and over again. read more

Good for a low price. Tried the shrimp alfredo; shrimp was good but sauce was low quality sauce. low priced so it was reasonable. Tried the deep fried shrimp. It was great and it the price was almost too low for what I got. read more

Excellent customer service. Restaurant had plenty of space and there was plenty of room for social distancing. Ambiance is pretty cool. Their happy hour is insane offering $3.50 cocktails. I enjoyed a peach and mango frozen daiquiri. We started with mozzarella sticks. Delicious! I ordered the snow crab legs with garlic butter sauce in mild with a side of hush puppies. I enjoyed it all. My boyfriend ordered the Cajun Chicken Alfredo. He said it was ok. The sauce was too "watery" for him Overall, we enjoyed our experience. We will be back! read more

This was in a strip mall so was a little skeptical but was I wrong. The price was a little high but the food was great. The fish and chips were good. Perfectly battered fish. The fried shrimp was a good size with a great portion of food. The crab legs with the Cajun spice was excellent. I made a huge mess getting the crab legs out of the bag but it was worth it. Service was good. Again only thing holding this place from a 5 star was the price. read more

I needed to stay in the area where my friend was since I was helping her with her car. So, I decided to dine-in here since it was literally up the street. I hadn't had a seafood boil in forever. So, I was excited! It was a late Saturday afternoon, maybe around 3pm. I really wasn't busy. Maybe like 6 small groups of ppl. I was seated right away and given time to look over the menu. So, is it me or are seafood boils expensive?! Lol I instantly remembered why I didn't get seafood boils often lol but I ain't gone lie, it was worth every penny! LOL My server, Alejandra was a sweetheart! She was so fun! The customer service was stellar and I had a nice time dining in. I was alone for a good 20 mins until my friend and her cousin came. But, she checked on my often and made me feel right at home! Since it was my first time eating here, I asked the her what sauce she recommended for the boil. She said her favorite was the Rajun Cajun. So, I got that, medium heat, and it was delicious! Well flavored and just enough spice! The only thing I can say that I wasn't a fan of about this place was that I couldn't get 1/2 ibs. I wanted a 1/2 pound snow crab and 1/2 headless shrimp. But, you could only order by the pound. So, I didn't get shrimp, because I wasn't going to eat all of that! But, aside from that, everything was great! I LOVED my drink, the food, my server, etc., it was just an all around great experience! I will definitely be visiting ago soon! They have a great Happy Hour special, $4.50 cocktails 12-6pm!!! read more

Our waiter Phillip was super attentive, kind and personable! Nothing less than perfect service and the food didn't disappoint.

I loveeeee this restaurant! It's so yummy and flavorful! The ambiance is great! I love the interior design! The service is amazing! I love ordering the house blend and their sausage!!! The sausage has a bite to it but it's also soft! The house blend is literally addicting! I crave it all the time! The food comes out quick (if it's not busy) and it is the best bang for your buck! The interior is similar to Angry crab shack but much cleaner and nicer! You get to write on the walls if you bring a sharpie! The service is out of this world! Our server was Phil and he was very kind and very professional! Highly recommend this place! read more

Gave this place a shot a few weeks ago and I liked it. Our waiter was extremely helpful and extremely knowledgeable and the food was good as well. Absolutely we recommend this place. It is our favorite lunch/happy hour spot in Mesa. The good is good. My favorite go to is the fried rice. Lots of perfectly cooked and spiced shrimp. My partners love the Shrimp Alfred, gumbo. Fish and chips are hearty. $2.50 PBR on draft. Best best domestic beer ever. Service is always good. It is a hidden gem. Friday night date and this was the spot! I was super excited to finally make it in. It was busy when we arrived so we were told to wait a few minutes for a table to clear up. The hostess finally came back a few minutes later and told us to pick a table. We sat down and our server quickly dropped off our menus. She was very friendly. We ended up ordering two pounds of the headless medium spice shrimp with the garlic and butter sauce. We also ordered two sides of rice, an order of corn bread, four potatoes, two orders of their sausage, three corns, and their Cajun fries. We surprisingly didn't wait too long and our boiling bag filled with goodies was dropped off. We dug in. The flavor was perfect! The headless shrimp are the way to go. They are a few dollars more but so worth it. I usually don't like having two shrimp eyeballs looking right at me.. Great experience and our server was friendly. Will definitely be back. Ended up paying $57. read more

Hi, let me start off by saying this place has good service and we love all the fried items. The last time we visited this restaurant was about 5 months ago and it was yummy. But... this time THE SAUCE had a different taste that was very weird tasting. Not the original tasting blend. Like maybe they added vinegar or Worcestershire and it was very dark instead of reddish.. read more

Visited for dinner and enjoyed it a lot! We got raw oysters, Cajun fries, cauliflower bites, and put together a crab boil. Our server was very patient and helpful as we decided what to get, and she even brought out extra paprika in case we wanted to make our medium sauce spicier since I was having trouble deciding between medium or hot. (I enjoy spicy foods and the LA Cajun medium was a good amount of heat for me to be able to eat a lot of the flavorful sauce.) Overall, all the food was delicious and the fried foods were very crispy and hot. It's not on the menu but I recommend asking for Cajun fries as a side. read more

After I experiencing Angry Crab and The Boiling Crab in Cali I was disappointed. I was only loyal to Hot N Juicy. However, my friend wanted his birthday dinner here so I came here for the first time. My friend warned me that their spicy is pretty spicy. They said they got medium and they were dying. I was pretty scared since I don't handle spicy. I ordered the Crawfish with Garlic Butter with mild spicy with a corn ($12.99 for the season & 85 cents for the corn) The waiter told me I wasn't able to get no spicy. I also ordered raw Oysters 6 for $8.99 and Cajun Fries ($2.99). We didn't wait too long for the food. They gave us a bucket, gloves, paper towels. The service was okay. He checked on us for the first few minutes but when we needed water he wasn't around. The food was actually really good quality. Big portions. I had no complaints. The spicy was tolerable too. What I liked was they have a washing station by the bathroom for washing your hands. I thought that was nice and convenient. Plus they are a little cheaper than Jot N Juicy. New favorite place! read more

We were looking for a new seafood place to eat in town so I talked my boyfriend on to coming here for dinner last night. The young man who waited on is fell seriously short of what good service stands for. We had to ask two other servers for utensils and napkins he also dropped our meal in my gator nuggets sauce spilling it all over the place and the crab by no means was it fresh it had a very strange smell to it. We had sausage and boiler eggs added to our crab broil the sausage was very good it had a smokey flavor to it and the boiled eggs were boiled to perfection. My strawberry pina colada was excellent very yummy and had lots of liquor in it but not enough to change my review on the sub par meal. This place is located kind of in a shady part of Mesa so make sure you don't leave any valuables in your car and lock it up. read more

My favorite place for shrimp boil!!!! Soooo yummy! Their house sauce is the best I've tasted around the Phoenix area and I've had quite a few places. We started with the Fried Cajun Sampler (Fried Gator Nuggets, Frog Legs, Shrimp, Catfish, Hush Puppies and Onion Rings) for $17.99...I'd suggest avoiding it, not worth the money, lots of breading, very little worth tasting. I had a pound of Crawfish (Cajun style, spicy #2) my buddy had a pound of the Crawfish (Cajun style, spicy #4). Mine we good if not a bit overcooked, but well seasoned. He felt the same, and his spice level was quite hot (just like he likes it). read more

So alot of these crab boil places are popping up around town but so far LA Crab Shack has the best "special sauce" or 3 sauce blend that I've tasted between them and Angry Crab & Hot & Juicy. I ordered 1 lb of Snow Crab and 1 pound of head on shrimp. Now I honestly prefer the heads off but before they used to literally take the heads off the shrimp but now they use a completely different shrimp.for heads off and when they cook up they are smaller and aren't as succulent. So I just take the loss and order the heads on so I get the bigger shrimp but have to de-head (is that a word? Lol) them myself. I personally think it's worth it but it'l is more work. I ordered the chargeilled oysters, ehhhh I probably won't order those again but I did like the Mango Daiquiri. Granted your hands are so frickin messy that you don't barely want to touch your glass...but since I usually don't drink alcohol with my main meal it works for me. Once I was full I used the lemons the wash my hands (it cuts the grease) at the table and then drank my good ole Daiquiri. I'll definitely be back here cause I looooove me some seafood and the fact that you don't need a fork or try table manners cause your food is served in a bag and on paper! It's great...it takes a little getting used to at first, not having a place setting and eating with your hands but once you get out your head it'll be great! Only downfall is you have to order by the pound but that's how all if these crab boil places work. read more

I got a Seafood Boil with the Rajun Cajun (Spice Level 3) with shrimp, crawfish, potatoes, corn, and clams. I was met with an unpleasant surprise when I peeled my shrimps, and I was so shocked by this discovery that I messaged my friend from Louisiana to see what was up with my shrimp. He told me that it wasn't deveined and that all the particles were from it's intestines, and he ALSO told me that every seafood boil he's ever had included deveining shrimps. I'm not an expert on Seafood Boils by any means, but I thought this was incredibly disgusting because none of my shrimps were deveined. I don't know if it's actually shit but it sure does look like it. Yes, it's possible to devein the shrimp and still keep most of the shell in tact. People can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't find this particularly appetizing and it ruined my whole meal. The clams were okay though. read more

Everything is perfect! We came here for the first time celebrating my mom's birthday. Dining experience was excellent as well as the food. They accepted reservations and followed COVID-19 guidelines. We ordered the jumbo platter with a mix of Snow crabs, lobster, shrimp, crawfish, potatoes, clams, oysters, sausages, and Corn with the house special blend. We also ordered the charbroiled oysters too. I suggest ordering their bread to dip into the sauce. It's a good way to soak up the sauce. read more

The first time I dined here, the server was fantastic and the food was pretty good. This time I left disappointed and I'm not certain that I'd jump at the chance to return. The quality of the food seems very mediocre to me. I believe that the snow crab was over cooked as it wasn't very easy to remove the meat from the shell at all. I don't know if our server was new, but she didn't seem all that interested to be there and did not ask if I wanted a drink refill. When I asked about their dessert offerings, she kept calling the Beignets "Baguettes." That aside, I just didn't feel that there was any quality represented in my dinner. I've had better quality and experience from Angry Crab Shack. I wanted to give this place a 2-star rating and never return, but based on my first visit being good, I opted for 3 stars because I'd be willing to give them another shot for a tie-breaker. read more

Have gone here a few times since the pandemic started and the food wasn't quite as good. It was left in the fryer too long on one visit. During the worst part of the pandemic they made you order through some weird app (Spot On I believe). They wouldn't take credit card info over the phone. Also, the portions seem to be smaller in the fried catfish basket. They still have way above average food IMO but they're not a five star restaurant any more. read more

After my last visit, I can safely say this place is now on my favorites list. Service is always excellent, food is great and price is on point (I must apologize for our server on Sunday, I can't remember her name but she checked on us multiple times throughout our dinner and made sure we were doing good until we left). When we went there on Sunday, we ordered the same exact thing. The food this time tasted even better, with the calamari being hot and crispy and not at all soggy like the last time, the fish hot and tasty and the shrimp as delicious and good as always. The fish basket we ordered came with a cocktail sauce and tartar sauce. Loved the tartar sauce with the fish! I don't know if my eyes were deceiving me that day but the shrimps looked slightly bigger than the previous time too! The food was served super quickly even though the restaurant was pretty full. Since the music has been brought up in so many previous reviews, let me say they have reduced the volume as of Sunday (Friday was slightly on the louder side). So glad we tried LA Crab Shack. We will probably be going there to get our seafood fix every week! read more
