The library provides clean men's and women's restrooms with staff-controlled access, which helps keep the facilities secure, clean, and available for library visitors. Instead of using common sense, staff told me I couldn't be in the space without a reservation despite the fact that it was sitting vacant and I had one starting shortly. To top it off, the room before mine had a no-show and still nobody used any flexibility or judgment. Just rigid rule enforcement with zero consideration for the people actually trying to use the space. The library was closed for over a year for a remodel -- and this is the hospitality we come back to. Disappointing. Leadership should revisit how staff interact with patrons who are clearly there in good faith. Plus it looks the same, barely changed a thing. Take a peek for a laugh, but I wouldn't come Here. Andrea Crow told her when asked "Is it for all of them? Are you the aquarian because you have to provide court ordered documentation to prove gaurdienshiop for a card!" Andrea rude, angry, aggressive,& very much racist. Her @ a darker skinned latin male kept giving nasty looks to the children while they were there. Andrea even came around to the computers later and said "Is this the card holder of the library card on the computer?" My provider said "No"! Just fyi it was my 9 year old child at the computer the card belonged to the providers husband. She went off yelling "You can't do that! Only the card holder can use the computer!" I went to the library an hour later and got a nice older lady. I asked her what I needed for the kids to get a card? She said just your drivers license. So Andrea and the male there are antiblack & they are mistreating customers, denying them access due to their hatred, to the extent of lying to not be able to give them services we pay for as tax payers. Andrea & the younger latin male need to be fired. Their hatred is unsafe for any child to be around.

Once you upload the files you want printed and enter your e-mail address, you input it on the computer and pay. One of the employees that came out to help me told me that it'll charge the card $10 at first then correct itself. But on my bank account statement, I didn't see any payments go through initially, and a couple of days later, I was charged the right amount. It is 15 cents per page, convenient, and cheaper than Staples/FedEx. There is also a shelf near the front where they sell books and media for around $1-2 or less. The parking lot is a bit small and was already full a little past noon. It's kind of set up like the La Mirada library, right next to city hall.

I've had experiences with public libraries where they DELAY in opening their doors despite scheduled hours. There are plenty of tables with built-in outlets so you can charge your devices, as well as a few different study/meeting rooms available if you need extra privacy. There's also an outdoor patio/garden area, but it seems like that space is closed during the hotter months. The air conditioning is always blasting full force when I visit, so I'd recommend dressing in layers if you plan to spend more than an hour there. One thing I really like is that the media (DVDs, CDs, etc.) are directly available. In other libraries, I'd usually have to bring a call number to the desk and have them bring out the materials from the back, but at the Pico Rivera Library, they're right in the boxes on the shelves. The events and collections are definitely geared towards kids and families, which is fine; not like I'm expecting a branch library to be a full-on research facility. The children's section is in a separate wing, so kids can be kids, but the noise doesn't spread. There's also a teen section with access to video games and consoles, which is pretty cool. The staff are nice and helpful. I'll see them having genuine conversations with guests about books, and what they'd like to see added to the collections. Overall, it feels like a genuine community space, and definitely an asset to the city.

The lady who helped me was great no issues. However, the Hispanic lady who was helping my gf was very rude. Prior to helping my gf, she was helping an Asian lady before us and the Asian lady seemed anxious. When she was done with the Asian lady, she called my gf's number. On our end it was our fault for putting the new address on my gf's paperwork because her CA ID/DMV license still showed her old address in Glendale. The lady who was helping her told her that she needed a paperwork to show proof she's living in the Torrance address. I was still in the middle of getting my library card with the other lady who was helping me. I was about 2-3 feet away from the Hispanic lady and my gf. When I heard this, I asked the lady who was helping my gf if we can just change the address so it matches her California ID/DMV, she dismissed my gf and didn't even bother to give my gf a new paper to change the address and said "Glendale won't work" and pushed her papers back to her. She said that because the new hello kitty library card was only for LA county residence. When my gf said "Glendale is part of LA county." She dismissed my gf and said "well do you want your library card?" My gf replied "yes I want my library card." Then she turned around and called the next number (the next person in line). The other employee saw this and helped my gf and gave her a new paper. The lady who was helping me helped my gf after she was finished with me. I get it, we had our own mistake on our end, but being dismissive and rude for a free library card is unacceptable. It's not like we were applying for a house loan or for a car loan. If she didn't know that Glendale is part of LA county, a simple google search or she can ask her coworkers the question. We were trying to get a free library card because my gf likes to read. This lady might have been rude to that Asian lady she was helping that's why that Asian lady looked anxious. You can't be working in a library and try to be quick on things and be dismissive. There are a lot of people who go to the library to learn and who might need more guidance so having a good customer service and being understanding is very important because you have to work with both adults and children. On the corner of Serapis & Burke near Slauson in the lovely city of Pico Rivera you will find the Rivera Library. The parking is ample since it is never crowded. It is open TTH 10-8pm and Sat 8-6pm. Wednesday's this month feature Storytime & Art activities and The Magic of Tony Daniels. They have a nice quiet environment with enough tables, chairs and a childrens area. The place his very small but it is usually not very crowded. The air conditioning is awesome here, almost as good as the Ralphs grocery store. They have a few computers for use including one which primarily features childrens educational games. The have movies for rent which include recent hits such as Salt and many popular children's favorites. They have a calendar and various flyers in the front entrance. Near the door they have books and VHS videos for sale. I scored a great Calculus book for $1, it was from 1991 but it is more comprehensive than some of today's books. Feel free to ask about the tutoring, when we arrived a young boy was being tutored. I will be back with nephews and nieces in the future or by myself to study when I am not in the mood for the coffee shops, college libraries and bookstores.
