My friend's old fashioned was tasty, but nothing special. My seasonal mule was supposed to have blackberry but was watery so the berry was barely discernible. The escargot were delicious: buttery and super garlicky, as they should be. I had to wait quite some time to separately order bread to soak up the garlic butter. The Caesar salad was lovely: light and fresh with an anchovy vinaigrette rather than the heavier traditional recipe with egg yolk. A nice alternative. My friend and I both ordered the PNW cioppino. The menu described it as shellfish and whitefish in a saffron-seafood broth. What it didn't mention was that the tomato in the broth was smoked. The smoke overwhelmed the dish. I couldn't taste saffron nor any of the seafood. Just smoke and quite a bit of salt. And I'm a saltaholic. I couldn't eat it, which was a shame because the single mussel and one bite of rockfish I managed were perfectly cooked. Reading the menu online, I was so excited to go. That excitement was not rewarded. So sad because the chef has a great vision for the place, and cooks everything to perfection. But he needs to explain things better on the menu (particularly when departing from tradition), and consider dialing back the smoke.

I stopped by for a glass of wine and ended up leaving with 2 bottles plus a new appreciation for Washington GSMs and pinots! Purchased a 2017 GSM (grenache-syrah-mouvedre) from Latta, Columbia Valley AVA ($25) and a 2019 Syrah from Rockgarden Vineyards, Walla Walla AVA. Looking forward to trying both soon! Definitely splurge in the charcuterie boards; they are works of art!

Washington's wines, or at least this region's, lean toward the dry side. Wind Rose did have a moscato they identified as sweet but I would say semi-sweet. It was still good! The appetizers we enjoyed were the meat & cheese plate, baked brie w/ sour cherry, and the olive tapenade & hummus plate. All very tasty. It was also extremely well done. The fries were cold. They don't have decaf coffee, but I was able to order mint tea. It was brought in a cup that smelled like old coffee. The table had been cleared and I had no napkin and he didn't bring one with the tea. There was a slice of lemon I didn't want and I had no place to put it. There is potential here, I hope they pay more attention to providing a quality experience and food.
