The wine flight
Nathan H.

My girlfriend and I highly enjoyed our experience here. We came on Saturday during their happy hour and the place was quite full probably due to the live mucus.but we managed to find a place at the bar. The ladies serving us were very friendly and helpful. We knew close to nothing about wine but they were great in providing suggestions and we ended up ordering a flight of white and red wines along with their small plates of salmon dip, anti pasta, and quesadillas. The wine flight is presented on top of these bookmarks which describe the wine, what they pair best with, and other random facts. We found it extremely helpful to help remember what we liked in the future. Whites we ordered the Pinot Grigio, Bravo Bianco, and Muscato. The Bravo Bianco was the most light and crisp of the three with the Pinot Grigio being in between the three wine choices and the Muscato being the sweetest wine I've had. I would borderline describe it as a fine juice. Personally I would prefer the Muscato if I was in a more sweet mood and would have the Bravo Bianco as my main wine choice. To me all reds taste the same so I won't comment on their selection. The salmon dip was amazing, generous on the salmon with a larger than expected portion. I loved the antipasta quality of meat. My girlfriend and I both agreed however that the quesadilla would be the weakest choice of the three, not because it was bad, but more so because the other two small plates were so good. In all fairness, it probably wasn't the wisest choice ordering a Mexican dish from an Italian styled establishment. We loved the place and will definitely be back if we find ourselves in the area!

We were in the area to visit Olympic National Park and our car navigated us to Camaraderie Cellars as they have a charger on their premises -- and that's where the incredible hospitality began. As we pulled in, the owner came out to greet us. We waved, got out of the car, and introduced ourselves. We shared a bit about our journey -- a retirement road trip from St. Louis through the western United States, visiting as many national parks as we could along the way. For many weeks, we had been sleeping in our EV, embracing the freedom of the open road. Don, the owner, welcomed us with genuine warmth. He told us about the history of the winery and gave us a personal tour of the beautiful grounds. The place had a peaceful charm, and the curated snacks they offer pair perfectly with their wines. After hearing our story, Don said, "I have an idea. It's getting late -- and since you haven't had dinner yet -- why don't you go enjoy a great meal at a nearby restaurant called Yodelin Broth. It's healthy, delicious, and close by. Then, come back here. I'll show you around some more, and you can charge your car while you sleep. In the morning, you'll be fully charged and ready to take in all the beauty of Olympic National Park in the daylight." At first, my wife was understandably cautious. These days, you never know -- we had never been to Washington before, and Don was a complete stranger. But something about his kindness felt truly sincere. While having dinner, we talked it over. Was this too good to be true? Was it safe? My gut told me Don was genuine, and I'm so glad we trusted that instinct. When we returned, he met us in the tasting room and continued to share stories, letting us sample some of his excellent wine. We spent a relaxing hour chatting, then headed out to our car for a peaceful night's sleep. The next morning, we woke up to a fully charged vehicle, ready to explore the wonders of Olympic National Park. Of all the breathtaking places we've seen on this trip, our unexpected stop at Camaraderie Cellars remains one of the most unforgettable. If we ever return to Washington, we will absolutely visit Don and his wife Vicki again, the incredible owners of Camaraderie Cellars. Their kindness and hospitality were truly unmatched -- a shining example of the goodness still out there in the world. Camaraderie Cellars: Hospitality at its finest.

We came to Olympic Cellars because they know i like to support local wine makers. No tastings, just walk in, walk out normal retail transaction. The first woman purchased 2 bottles at retail prices, and tipped $15. Her mom purchased 2 bottles of wine, but didn't tip any further. The guy taking their money made a rude comment about not getting a tip. The guy expected an additional tip essentially paying him $30 to sell them some wine. So help me understand. I buy wine at a liquor store, the clerk doesn't expect a tip. i buy wine at a grocery store, the clerk doesn't expect a tip. I buy wine at Costco, the staff doesn't expect a tip, but i will give you a good tip, Costco sells a lot of great wine, and atleast one three varietal red blend from Napa for under $10. So why would i pay a guy in a retail transaction a tip? I get it if we were there, tasting wine, chatting him up. Which is what all the wineries on the Olympic Peninsula should realize is their business. It's an experiential thing. There are a million better wines out there, but people want a pleasant tasting room experience from friendly and knowledgeable staff, with an occasional glimpse of the winemaker. It's a nice tasting room, and i use to come here a lot as a member, but since the lock down, it's lost something. i hope they find it.

I noted this tasting room was close and could satisfy the cravings of both the cider loving husbands and their wino wives, so off we headed. It's a small little tasting room with a bar and some outside seating. We walked in on Saturday around 3 and there was noone in the tasting room or at the bar. We waited about 15 minutes before two people came in from the side door and were rather unfriendly in asking us what we wanted. We were a bit put off but already there so we tried a cider and wine tasting. Our cider loving husbands were fans of the raspberry cider but neither of us cared for any of the red wine we sampled. The pourer was saying she takes them home as cooking wine, but a wine that's only good for cooking with wasn't exactly what we were looking for. The tastings were reasonably priced and apparently the raspberry cider was memorable, but other than that it was a bit average overall.
