I opted to go with the traditional 'birds and bees cider', which was a very refreshing apple cider with pear which was so easy to drink and just perfect on the hot day. The cidery has lovely grounds you could walk about and has a well stocked cidery store inside the barn. We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere here and hope to visit again. For lunch, we had the flatbread, and my hubby had a bowl of the seafood chowder which he loved. Perfect plate to share.

We made a reservation ahead of time and got to enjoy a tasting at the bar before grabbing a glass to enjoy on the patio with a cheese board. Service during the tasting was just okay. Our server out on the patio was much warmer and provided us more information about the wines and the property. While there, we saw a wedding party arrive as they host weddings here. You can choose between a sparkling flight or red flight from their sister location in the Okanagan. I ordered the bison burger with fries, and while the burger was solid, the fries were standout--crispy, golden perfection! The views from the deck overlooking the vineyards make it an ideal place to linger over a glass (or two)! A great addition to a day spent touring the Butchart and the Butterfly Gardens :)

I think my favourite part though was the wonderful service from Anya. We're used to Seattle's cold mannarims but this young lady was so sweet! We had a small ceremony and reception in August 2015, with 35 guests that were all family members. We were told that we would have use of the property until 11pm, at which point all guests had to leave, and then ourselves and our staff had to be gone at midnight. This corresponds to all information that our vendors had regarding timing. At 830pm, the property manager turned off our extremely quiet music, and began insulting our guests and staff and telling them that they had to leave. There was absolutely no grounds for her to do this; we had done nothing wrong and were following all property rules. This unfortunate end to the night came on top of an incident involving a large black poodle from the property attacking one of our guests, and the property being shown to other prospective clients during our ceremony! Overall the experience with the property manager ended on a very sour note with our whole family and our staff. It is a great shame because the property itself was perfect, and it was otherwise such an amazing and beautiful day. We had reached out to the manager in several emails for an explanation, and to speak to the owners, but never got a response. I really hope that the owners can do something to rectify the situation.

The wine making operation is really a labor of love as the couple who make all the wine on the Estate, also tend the 3 acres of grapes (4 varietals but primarily the French hybrid Marechal Foch which originated in the Alsace region (if that name sounds familiar, select the category of World War I history for $200 Alex) . It is such a cool operation and in going through the tour one can learn so much about the wine making operation which is primarly done by hand.

The entrance is a little hard to find, and initially, we turned onto the vineyard road and had to backtrack to a little sign with just the house number, and that is where you park. It's in front of their house, and Kit came out and greeted us, introduced us to his adorable dogs after being sure we weren't opposed, and then guided us on a tour of their little family owned vineyard. We enjoyed learning about their unique grapes and their personal histories. They don't do conventional tastings, but instead, you bought a bottle that came with 4 engraved Sailor Vineyards wine glasses (to take home), and he pours for you while you enjoy the lovely day. We took home a bottle of their reserve wine and was disappointed we wouldn't be able to return for their big concert they are putting on at the end of three summer (Aug 10, 2024) with an Italian band. It's definitely a neat spot to stop if you're in the area, but be sure to call ahead.
