Although this place is a little hard to find, it is worth the trip. We came here after the Butchart Gardens and it was a great find. For $5 you get a flight of 3 wines. Each wine has its own distinct flavors and the owner is great and will tell you an interesting story behind all of them. I'm not a huge wine drinker but all of the wines I tried here made me want to be. The only downside we experienced was that we came at a time where they did not have any food. Cheese and fruit would have been a great accompaniment to the wine! I would definitely recommend coming but make sure you are coming when they have food as well! read more

You HAVE to check this place out! They offer an amazing winery and distillery atop a hill that overlooks the vineyards, miles of fall colour trees, and mount Baker in the background. The drive up sets the scene for the amazing experiment yet to come. You reach the place and are let up by a gated entrance. The drive up is stunning. The outside has tables and homely decor! Perfect to get a charcuterie plate (which you can custom make) and a bottle of wine. We came during the wine off season so we stuck with the distillery portion of our trip. And I am so happy we did! The gin was off the hook. I recommend trying all the options for the spirit you are interested in. It's amazing to taste the differences. My favourite was the Tom! The tasting was so unique and very educational. Our server, Monique, was freaking awesome. She made sure we left with everything we needed. The place also has goodies and treats for purchase (food and cute wine stoppers and De Vine close). Awesome experience, incredible product, and exceptional service!! Thank you! read more

Absolutely incredible experience tasting both wine and spirits. The spirits were something I had never tasted before, being absolutely delightful with flavours of botanicals. We were even offered some figs to enjoy with our tasting. I can't wait to return to try the rest of the spirits! read more

Wow I wish it was a clear day. The view must be nice from the top of the hill. First the wine my wife thoroughly enjoyed the tasting in fact had no idea how much she really enjoyed the two vermouth styles so she bought them both since we've been home we had one bottle and it was very tasty. I tried the gin flight very good . I really enjoyed the gen ever fun it so good in fact bought a bottle wish I had got a few more duty or not. Mixing it with citrus fever tree tonic dam that's a tasty gin and tonic very friendly staff will be back wish they shipped to the states oh well have to get back soon read more

We took a taxi up to the vineyards, and we were glad we did so since the location of the winery can be difficult to locate otherwise. You first enter a small path up a hill to reach the location of the wine tasting. My friend and I both got the wine tasting set for $5, and they had two whites and one red that day. I do not remember the exact flavor combinations of the wines, but all were very good! They had very distinct fruit flavors and the taste was true to the ingredients. The staff was also very kind and spoke to us about wine and about the vineyard. The only drawback is there is no food being served currently, but they plan on having food service in the summer. Overall, a quaint winery with a great view, but worthy of a visit! read more

Space is a bit limited, I recommend bringing sun screen if you're coming on a hot day as there are a number of seats available without umbrella coverage. Wine tasting is 3 wines for $5. read more

This vineyard is charming and provides stellar views. The winding roads leading up to the vineyard are awesome and if you look, just before you arrive there is a home on the right side of the road with some really fluffy, cute alpaca! Back to the vineyard...sit inside at the bar and get a tasting flight - you will learn about the differences in each glass. Once you fine what you like, buy a bottle or three, order a charcuterie board and sit outside and enjoy the afternoon amongst the vines. read more

Very nice estate. The view from the parking lot is wonderful and the grounds are kept well. While the wines were not 100% what I look for, they had some excellent qualities. The folks at the tasting room were nice, funny, and certainly knew their wines and how that paired with our tastes. This winery is gorgeous and the staff is amazing! But the wine itself just fell flat for me. The flavours were not bold. All of the wines I found were very soft and could use some more power. I was also disappointed there were absolutely no sweeter wines which are very popular for the hot weather. I was hoping to buy some bottles as gifts but the tasting left me unfulfilled to do so. While the food and staff are incredible the wine itself was not. I was extremely interested in the hard booze they had and will go back to try these. Be very careful!!! The entrance to this place is dangerous. Also, a tout bus backed in while we were trying to leave and blocked in most of the cars. The man driving the bus was not very friendly when asked to move. All in all I found this place to be sub par. read more

Bradley was an incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and generous tour guide, host and bartender. With a demonstration as to how to taste spirits, we enjoyed gin, rum, vermouth, vodka, brandy as well as wine. He gave us (a group of six) a free tour, tasting some of the freshly tapped whisky made from honey, viewing and taking in the aromas of the spirits, and sampling a cocktail. The tasting room and distilling room were charming. They had a beautiful cat named Gigi, wild rabbits running outside, and deer grazing nearby. We loved this place and bought 5 bottles to bring home. Bradley gave us recommendations for dinner, told us a lot about the local area, and overall was very helpful and sociable. read more

We checked out 3 wineries including Church & State and this was by far the best place. Staff was so lovely, views were stunning and wine and spirits were so delicious! Recommend after doing a taster to buy a meat and cheese plate and bottle of wine and sit on the patio:) read more

While in Victoria we stopped at a couple wineries on our way back from the gardens. This winery was up a small hill with an iron gate. Upon arrival they had tables outside, lawn games, an event area and there was even a food truck there! Whenw e got there the place was packed! The tasting fee was $5 and was waived with a purchase of a bottle. All of the wines we tasted were good and was told the grapes were mostly from the Okanagan valley. My favorite was the Pino Blanc. They also were featuring a strawberry vodka while we were there which they topped with muddles strawberries and tonic water and it was indeed amazing. The prices were great (under $20 per bottle) and $35 for the strawberry vodka. This is definitely a great spot to stop if you want to do some wine tasting while in Victoria! I highly recommend it! read more

Amazing vineyard and distillery! Beautiful location just a short drive from Victoria. If you are a fan of great wine and amazing, small batch whiskeys, you HAVE to visit De Vine and sample their libations! I guarantee you will be glad you did and probably go home with a bottle or three!! I am a dedicated whiskey drinker and have sampled hundreds of whiskeys around the world and was incredibly impressed with the variety and depth of flavor from all their whiskey offerings!! Situated off beautiful rural old West Saanich road, Devine has stunning views of the ocean and small islands Darcy, James and Sidney. The grounds are inviting and attractive with outdoor seating. Inside though, are super people happy to share their wine crafting and tasting. Definitely worth a return trip to sample more of these gems. read more

The whole operation is a family business where the parents and all four children plus four spouses assume various roles to make up the entire operation. What a perfect place for a winery. We found the first time by accident. Did wine tasting an snacked on their available for purchase foods. Could not believe the views. We waited a week or so, watched for another clear day, stopped at a market, brought some snacks an went again. This time no tasting, bought wine an enjoyed the amazing view. My wife and I visited here from Portland, OR and were pleasantly surprised by this winery! The owners were behind the counter pouring and very generous and friendly. Large variety of wines to taste and only $5 for a flight of 5 wines, which I think we got to taste 6-7. All of the wines were good. Coming from Oregon, we are use to very good wine, but we really enjoyed the Rose and they made a great strawberry vodka, which we ended up buying. Worth a visit! We were too late for food, but they have a little food truck on the property that serves food. Views of the Georgia Strait from the vineyard and very cozy environment. Loved this place! I bought two bottles of 2013 Epiphany - Black & Blue, after doing a taste test at De Vine Vineyards. The bottles for sale just had corks in them, and no foil covering. The bottles were kept upright at the De Vine Vineyard store. I was leery about that, but bought them anyway. I tried them soon after I got home, and the wine tasted like vinegar. Both bottles of wine tasted like vinegar. I'm guessing that air must have gone through the corks. I paid $41.99 for the two tiny bottles, and I still have the receipt. My daughter (who was with me at De Vine) wrote to the De Vine Company. They said they'd look into it. We have not heard back from them since then. I'm really disappointed that I wasted $42 on two tiny bottles of crappy vinegar-wine. The De Vine Company should have at least given me my money back. Do not buy any wines from them that is corked without a foil wrapper, or you will waste your money like I did, and the company will ignore you. read more

We went for Mothers Day and when we walked in the bar space was taken up. One of the owners, Ryan made us feel welcome and made room for us are the bar. He was super friendly, funny and knowledgable. No charge for tastings which made it much easier to walk out with several bottles. The view was amazing. I would defintely go back! read more

We took my father-in-law for an outing on his 90th birthday to De Vine on a beautiful day last August and wound up the long drive past the lower vineyards, arriving at the top of the hill where the winery looks out over a magical view of the Saanich Peninsula and the Gulf Islands beyond. We could have brought a picnic to have on the patio overlooking the view but this time we sat at the tasting bar instead between a young hipster couple and a group of middle-aged wine aficionados on a circle tour of the Wine Islands. Our genial host poured a selection of their 12 or so wines (surprising for such a young winery, and surprisingly good!) and my father-in-law held court with tales of growing up in the area, the long-gone railway, and how the BC wine industry had started just down the hill in the berry fields of the early 1900s. We bought a couple of bottles of Epiphany, enjoyed the beautiful view and trundled home with the feeling that we'd had not just a nice tasting but a special day in the country. read more
