Malakoffs belongs in the holy trinity of cheese dishes with fondue and raclette, and might be my favorite of all. I have only had the Malakoffs here, but there are other offerings including fish and meat dishes. Some of my friends have ordered these and gave them high marks as well, but the Malakoffs to me are what make this place special. You can't get them in other parts of Switzerland, and if you like cheese, these are amazing. I always go with the menu Maison, which comes with a nice variety of dried meats (delicious), salad (simple with a nice dressing), bread, small pickles and onions, ALL YOU CAN EAT Malakoffs, and a choice of dessert. It is a fantastic value for Switzerland, at only 38 CHF. And believe me, if you go to this place for lunch and have your fill of Malakoffs (which for me is about 6), then you will not be hungry at all for dinner. I can't recommend this place enough. It's one of those truly unique places with a food that doesn't exist outside the area.

They have a fun playground were we could keep an eye on the kiddos... and even go play with them while we waited for the food. Dill and I had spritz's to drink. They hit the spot. But we came for the malakoffs and salad... and this place did not disappoint! Their malakoffs come out crisp, hot, and oozing with cheesy goodness. (I am drooling now as I write this!) It started to get a bit cool and rain during our meal. The staff quickly brought out cozy blankets to keep the kids warm. They loved it! The kids each got to pick an ice cream for dessert. I forget the other flavors, but one of the kids had apricot which was the biggest hit! The kids had never had that flavor before and everyone thought it was "THE BEST"! Some of the adults got The Bernadette for dessert, which I would say was just as good! I can't wait to go back!

The region is Aledo known for a dish called Malakoff. Named after a Russian noble by Swiss mercenaries, this deep fried glove of Gruyere is one of my favorites. This restaurant is renowned for its malakoff. The dried beef (viande sechee) is amazing too. The whole meal goes best with a white chasselas. The only challenge is getting here without a car. Über will cost about 20- from Nyon. Count on about 30-40 from Geneva. You could always take a train to Gland and Uber from there too. Come out and try this place. You won't be disappointed.
