It's a weekday evening at 8:15pm and as I arrive I see how quaint this small restaurant is and anticipate how good this dinner will be. There are 10 or 12 tables and only 3 tables are being used. I ask the bartender for a table (in French) and he rudely asks "did you make a reservation?" I said no. He said "sorry we are full". I look at the 9 open tables and wondered what was going on. I politely left but if he could have heard my thoughts! There are many other great little places in Evians. Pass.

The hotel itself has gorgeous architecture and painted domes but the view is truly something else! You get a nice view of the hotel's vast green spaces along with a wide view of Lake Geneve. I came here with a party of six and was seated quickly. We all ordered the duck foie gras, and it was delicious! Would definitely recommend it as your starter although it is a bit filling. For my main course, I ordered the pasta with caviar. As an American, I didn't care for the al dente pasta, but the sauce and the taste were very rich. The fish with hazelnut butter is was smooth and tender. I give this place a four star rating for amazing views and good service, but food that, while yummy, wasn't outstanding. Foie gras can be bought and eaten out of a can, and the steak my family ordered was overcooked.

They have huge selection of meats going from Pork, Horse, Beef but you also have some Seafood and Pasta selection. Atmosphere 3/5: This is a typical café restaurant Swiss style. Nothing over the top or fancy, this place is more a stop and go for the truck drivers as well. The place is a clean place to eat tho. They have a bar section as well and a terrasse outside. Food 5/5: I think this is one of the prime spot for Steakhouse lovers. The meat served are quiet big as you can see on the pictures and they serve it with 3 different kind of sauces; Café de Paris, Pepper sauce or Mushroom sauce. I read that if you ask for a sample of all 3 of them, they would bring it with no extra charge. The fries are good as well. The salad is alright, nothing over the top but you can feel that everything is fresh there. Service 3/5: The service was alright. They were nice to accept us at 1.45pm on a Saturday but we sometimes had some trouble to get in touch with our waitress. The service was fast tho, we were served food quickly and everything went smoothly. In conclusion, if you're a steak lover, give it a shot! The price isn't excessive at all and the price/quality is pretty good for what you're getting. A horse entrecôte is 24 CHF which includes a Green salad as well.

There is a nice atmosphere in there. The tables are with and sturdy yet designed to look sleek so are the chairs and the decor is quite modern and stylish. Go with a collar... I called and asked what the price of a menu was to gauge the price range and to my surprise you could get a delicious three course meal (drinks not included) for 30 euros and if you go at lunch that would become 20 euros . So what to expect from the meal... Well the food is all delicious French Cuisine, what surprised me is that I ended up choosing the vegetarian menu for myself (I was actually happily surprised that I didn't notice a lack of taste or excitement in the dishes) My gf chose the traditional menu (a traditional French cuisine menu) which blew my mind in every aspect starting with tuna tartar followed by pork fillet and to finish This mouthgasm off with a kick they served us both the creme brûlée with amaretto ^^ . The Portions are very generous and very tasty! I raise my hat to the chef! If you are a hungry guy like me, you'll have a hard time feeling hungry for more at the end of this menu. With some excellent white wine (Muscat sec) we ended up spending under 100 euros for 2! That's 2 three ourse meals, sparkling water and a bottle of delicious wine for under 100 euros you've got to be kidding me :D

I waited until arriving here to have French cuisine. I knew I could find better French food here because it is closer to France and I was right. I found this restaurant among all the French restaurants in town, I liked their menu and their reviews. We liked it so much that we went there twice and we only stayed in Lausanne for two nights. First night we have onion soup, escargot, beef tartare, green salad, dessert - crème brûlée and ice cream. Second night we have the Seafood tower and salad. Food: 5 stars Service: 5 stars Ambience: 5 starts I love their menu because they serve more traditional French cuisine instead of those nouveau cuisine (like eating foam)-. I want to mention the maître d' named Adrien. I just mentioned to him at the first night that we maybe come back the next day so he sent me an invite to remind me so we did. The Entrecôte "Café de Paris" was a very poor quality piece of steak, with fat and tendons galore. The EB Burger (with a piece of foie gras on top of a patty) is different and delicious -- although the potato wedges that come with it are dry and should be substituted for regular fries. This place is pricey, and there other options that are better values (even in Lausanne, where prices are high in general) Service at the restaurant is hit or miss. For the most part it's professional, but there are definitely some wait staff who give the vibe of being arrogant. Given all that, the only reason this restaurant gets a second star is the ambiance is nice. It's somewhat of an awkward multi-level layout, but it has a charm to it. Classy and elegant. If only the food and service would match the surroundings, I'd be happy to go back.
