In summary: Best Happy Hour EVER! Not only does La Cigale offer an extensive menu of happy hour entrees for $25, the restaurant also has a full range of 2-for-1 drinks. Happy hour runs daily in the bar from 5:00 to 6:30, except on Sundays when they are closed. Best bet is to get there early because the bar seats are limited and most of the diners seemed to be eating, drinking and enjoying themselves for the entire happy hour period. In addition to the traditional seats along the bar, the bar area has one long table for "communal" seating. We were initially reluctant to sit in the middle of this table, but it was perfect as we were able to learn about and see the great food selections from the "regular" happy hour visitors. (They were thoroughly enjoying the ahi tuna entree.) First things first though. The large margarita menu was tempting but we opted for wine from the even larger wine list. La Cigale allows customers to split the 2-for-1 offer rather than require one person to have two drinks. Nice! All cocktails are included in the offer, and one person in our group enjoyed a Ketel One vodka. La Cigale describes itself as a Mediterranean restaurant with selections from France, Morocco, Greece, and Italy. Their wide-ranging happy hour menu includes several pastas, seafood, chicken and meat entrees. Although this is an upscale restaurant, the happy hour options allow first-time visitors to try the various preparations on a smaller scale at a reasonable price. At the recommendation of our communal table neighbors, we split a crock of French onion soup. It was a $6 add-on to the happy hour menu. It was thick, full of onions, covered in delicious cheese, and epitomized how French onion soup should look and taste. In summary: the Best French Onion Soup EVER! One person in our group had the chicken marsala with mashed potatoes. Another had a large Caesar salad with chicken. And two of us had the chicken parmesan with a side of linguini pasta. The chicken was amazingly moist and tender. And the sauce was delicious. At the risk of being redundant: the Best Chicken Parmesan EVER! Unfortunately we were too full to enjoy anything from La Cigale's large list of tempting desserts. Maybe next time. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The noise level at the crowded communal table was a bit loud, but it did not detract from our overall excellent experience. We now understand why the other happy hour diners are "regulars" and repeatedly enjoy visiting La Cigale. We'll be back too. read more

This has nothing to do with the food. We have eaten at this restaurant for at least 20 years. This time we were disturbed by the fact that the restaurant and manager/owner allowed a dog to sit next to the dog's owner and eat off the table. (Actually there were 2 dogs). I enjoyed our happy hour here. The entrees are $25 and drinks are half price. I went here with a group and we had a lot of fun. I had a fun time with our group which was an extra bonus. Happy hour starts at 5:00 pm and we arrived by 4:50 pm to make sure we could get the long table in the front. It all worked out so perfectly. It is a very elegant place inside! I love this place. Been going there since it was on Atlantic Ave & that was many many years ago. Started sitting at the bar with my husband about 12 years ago. We always ate at a specific table & had the same waiter which made it very intimate & welcoming. As our lives changed we decided to eat at the bar where it was quite lively & friendly. I recommend this restaurant to everyone I meet when they're looking for a restaurant in Delray with great ambiance & great food & drinks & exceptional service whether at the bar or at a romantic table. I haven't been to this restaurant in approximately 10 years why I'm not sure but tonight I thought it might be a nice place to try again with some friends first of all the atmosphere. Nice it was Bastille day so they had it all decorated and they had a special menu to my pleasant surprise I had the Caesar salad, which was delicious. Escargot very good Also the salmon came with two vegetables and for dessert and lemon pie. We also had the pork chops which were double pork chops came with potatoes and a vegetable and delicious also wedge salad, which was good and coq au vin and bread pudding with the special dinner got three courses for Bastille day and a glass of wine. It was a very pleasant experience. The waiter staff was excellent parking is valet or self parking lot. You don't have to worry about parking in downtown Atlantic Avenue. With the extraordinary cost of parking in Atlantic Avenue downtown this was a free valet and free parking. For Happy Hour Prix fixe we ordered old school favorites- Seafood Cioppino (a classic seafood stew) which was a delicious and a generous portion. Veal Picata was also a very large portion and had great compliments. The Beef Burgundy, sadly was a bit dry and not rich in flavor. The gentleman next to me was disappointed with the quality of his Ceasar Salad and he complained that his French Oinion Soup was overloaded with cheese as he tugged on it, trying to get a spoonful of broth. He was a regular patron, and said the Chef was having a bad day on this early Friday. He always looked forward to his gourmet Happy Hour and usually loved the food. Drinks, entrees and desserts were spot on. I ordered the French onion soup which was such a treat since I rarely have it. So happy it was worth it here. Then I had the varied fish cioppino. It was lovely! My friend had the trout which was a nice portion, extremely fresh and flavorful. Everyone was happy with their courses. You must try the chocolate chip biscotti. It was probably the best recipe if you like them soft. The chef comped us the desserts probably because he knew it was our first time here. Smart business man! We went to celebrate my cousin's wedding anniversary at La Cigale. We really enjoyed our evening, everything was perfect. Andrea was our server, and she was awesome, she really took good care of us. We were seated in a private room with only six tables and it was perfect. We ordered their famous onion soups,lamb chops, mussels, shrimps and scallops à la Provençale and I ordered the paella. The paella wasn't on the menu but Andrea went to ask the chef if he could prepare one and he was happy to do it. We told Francis the owner that we were celebrating a wedding anniversary and he sent us a tiramisu and a lemon tart on the house. It was really nice and classy of him. We had a great experience starting from the valet parking attendant to the service, food, the music and ambiance. For sure, we'll go back again and again!!!! Keep up the great work! read more

We dined here a few weeks ago with another couple It was OK. The hostess was very nice and accommodating, as were the wait staff. The menu is well thought out, yet the food was simply put, mediocre. I wish only success to those in the restaurant business, yet La Cigale is just OK at higher prices ( in my opinion) than should be. At approximately 150.00 for two, with 2 drinks, a shared appetizer, and one dinner entree and one selection from the apetizer section of the menu, the food did not match the bill. Excellent food and service. I love a round table for 6 people! We sampled a number of dishes, but the standouts were the osso buco (fall off the bone tender and unctuous) and the duck. The duck was moist and crispy (which is often difficult to achieve). The music/singing is always fun. He sings Sinatra and Darrin and others you know in your soul --but the music is an accompaniment. You can still talk and hear. It's an older crowd, but they have likely been going there for years. They know quality. Service was attentive (from cocktails to the end). And the end was a delicious espresso martini. read more
