    Berry salad

La Casona is our preferred steakhouse when staying at Villa del Palmar or Casa Blanca in Cancun. The food is well prepared and offers a great variety of excellent meat cuts and fish. We love the appetizers, especially the berry salad and the artichoke salad, as well as the onion soup. We both ordered the filet mignon, which was very well prepared and really tender. The desserts are also great. Diana, the manager, is an excellent and gracious hostess, and together with her staff offered us a great dining experience.

Our second time at Villa Del Palmar and our first opportunity to try La Casona STK. For being with a party of 12, the service was above my expectations. My Appetizer's: Clam chowder soup-5 stars Beef Tartare-4 stars Pork Belly-5 stars My Entree's: Tenderloin-4 stars tender but no flavor Short Ribs- 3 stars very tough Shared Desserts: Apple Tart-5 stars great crust, great taste Creme Brûlée-3 stars Carrot tart-4 stars For a really classy place, I think I'm being generous with my rating. I feel that a place like this needs to pay attention to the small details of flavor and proper cooking temps. As steak seems very easy to cook, it can actually be the hardest to get the perfect doneness every time, but I think they should be able to get it right since this is what they do every day.

Terrible. 2023-nov-29. Night began confused, they didn't have sign down for old restaurant, and didn't have enough menus for us, although was not busy. Waiter (Julio) never said a nice word to us, or told us specials or checked on us or offered us drink refills. Only one drink menu for table. Food was bad too, ribeye cut too thin, three steaks undercooked, sauces mediocre. Lumpy mashed potatoes, creamed spinach tasty like a hot dip but only 1/8 of an inch thick in a ramican with no spoon. Tuna carpachio underwheming with three slices of unevenly cut toast for four slices of fish which were too thin. I guess the all inclusive bands aren't really welcome here. Run away.

Tough time trying to rate this one. Very upscale and nice setting. We were seated immediately with reservation. Asked the wait staff for opinions but didn't get much feedback. We had to ask for extra spicy sauce to help give the food some taste. We forget this is catered towards the typical tourist and food was fairly bland. Stay to the rare side on your steak option - medium was more like well done. Big show for birthdays so if you are here for a celebration, let them know! Based on this, I feel the rating is quite fair - we go to a restaurant for the food and the dishes here seemed underwhelming. So don't forget the hot salsa or sauces!!

Not a great place as a vegetarian. I had a baked potato and some bites of asparagus and Mac and cheese from shared plates. It was all yummy, just not a typical meal-meal. However, everyone else, the meat eaters loved their food. It's definitely over priced for what it is, other than the service is great. The bread they brought out before our meal arrived was good too. Very attentive and friendly staff. The plates are main dish only - different cuts of meat, sides have to be ordered separately and are very small

AMAZING STEAKHOUSE FOR RESORT!! I live in NYC and was impressed with the quality and presentation of our food here. My boyfriend and I had dinner here twice during our 4 night stay. Definitely recommend the tuna carpaccio, the dressing is so so delicious. We also had the clam chowder and steak tartare. The clam chowder is interesting and a little sweet. Steak tartare has a lot of vegetables like cucumber which I've never had before. I had the NY strip which had the perfect amount of fat for me and my boyfriend had the filet mignon our first visit then skirt the second I think. Definitely get the pepper sauce, it's so creamy and flavorful. For sides we had mashed potatoes, cream spinach and asparagus, all of which were lovely but the potatoes are super creamy and no lumps at all which I loved. Try to save room for dessert and come early (6pm) if you want a table with a view.

Excellent service and food. The menu has many things to choose from for a steakhouse. The steaks are very delicious and so is the Mac and cheese. The wine list is very large and the desert menu is small but has good choices. The waiters are very attentive and polite and if you come, you may want to get a reservation and dress nicely.

We also ordered beer & tropical drinks (Paloma & Pina Colada's) which were very good. The restaurant decor & ambiance is what you would expect from a typical Brazilian Churrascaría very tasteful. It wasn't cheap but you definitely get what you pay for. Service was above & beyond from all the staff. Super attentive to your every need! Make sure you ask for the specific type of meat that you like & they will bring it over. Never feel bad passing on meat that doesn't sound good or asking for more servings if you specifically prefer a certain cut. Would highly recommend giving it a try at least once. *They also have Valet parking included if you have a car.

Water and ice was potable, for anyone worried about that. Also, the waiter saw we were struggling to order in Spanish so he told us, "I speak English, too. Don't worry." We had a big laugh about that The shrimp cocktail was incredible, as was the spinach artichoke dip. Plus, my little brother is super picky about textures, but there was zero chunks of anything in the dip, so he ate it with us. (It might not sound like a big deal, but it always makes my mom so happy when he tries something new, and not many places make puréed artichoke dip. The extra effort meant a lot to my mom and brother) He also doesn't like seafood (just as a preference) so he got a burger, and he RAVED about how good it was. The whole table went crazy for the homemade potato chips! Oh my word! Not too salty and not too bland. Would absolutely order again and then take another to go! The music wasn't too loud, and the sports bar entertained my stepdad while we had our Piña Coldas (which were also very good with Malibu). There was also big fans to cool us down on such a hot day!! I would 1000% go back there if getting to and from Isla Mujeres wasn't such a hassle Advice to anyone going here: stick to the seafood and hamburgers. I wouldn't recommend getting sushi anywhere that isn't an asian specialty restaurant Seafood is their specialty, and Snapper's does that WELL!

Just don't go! The decor and especially outside sofa chairs are very inviting. It is a facade; a trick; a lie. Una mentira. First red flag: this place has multiple names: L'Argentina Grill Argentina Steakhouse "The Steakhouse" (huge painted on building) There are two foods I love the most: tacos and hamburgers. So when I go to Cancun/Mujeres I eat lots of tacos. Eventually I crave hamburgers. Enter Argentina. The service was pretty poor. I've traveled plenty and understand the difference between service in the US vs elsewhere. Here we were just ignored or passed over too long. Eventually we got water and ordered a bottle of wine. They struggled a bit suggesting wines. Everything we ordered was our server's favorite... :) lucky us. Ordered some appetizers. I didn't like them and don't remember what they were. Got dinner (burger and fries). The fries were lame. I don't even mind frozen fries. But these were just bland and useless. The burger patty seemed like it was steamed or boiled. I didn't like it. Any fast food burger joint, in Mexico or the US, would have been superior. Service was slow and not helpful. I ate at about 12 restaurants in Cancun and Mujeres, and they were all delicious, except for this one place. And this was by far the priciest (well, except for the beachside dinner at the ritz which was fine dining on another level... not fair to compare) If you eat at this restaurant, after reading these reviews, that's your bad. Don't be me. Don't be a sucker. Spend way less money for way better food and service, anywhere on the island. Pick any food stand. Any bar. Any hotel. Any restaurant. They all have better food. Pick any of them. Two stars because the wine wasn't terrible, and some of the food was edible. But seriously teetering on giving a 1 star. It was absolutely not worth it. I will definitely never go back. On an island in the Caribbean, maybe I shouldn't have sought out beef at all. Next time I'll stick to local fare (seafood) at restaurants that aren't clearly created to gouge tourists. I kinda feel responsible, because in retrospect, this place is clearly a tourist trap racket. Either way, do yourself, your wallet, and your loved ones a huge favor: eat anywhere else.
