Where do I start?? Such a disappointment to an otherwise very lovely honeymoon!
We were looking forward to visiting this restaurant located at the sister resort where we were staying. So much so we waited until a day that we had a light lunch AND saved our nicest outfits for this meal! We're accustomed to Texas de Brazil here in Alabama and had heard nothing but praises from other resort guests about this place. So we were pumped.
We got there and waited at the hostess station for 10 minutes or so before she came out to seat us. This was not the norm at other restaurant locations at the resort, so it caught us off guard. She started walking towards tables outside, and I asked if we could be seated inside. She said there was a one hour wait to sit inside. As stated above, we had a light lunch because we wanted to enjoy this dinner, and we didn't want to wait, so we obliged.
I asked the hostess how service was outside because, in our 10-minute wait, we had not seen any of the guys carrying meat to folks seated outside. She responded that service was good outside, and then immediately told our waiter in Spanish: "Watch out for this woman... she's already asked about Service".
We got our drinks and walked inside to the salad bar. There were numerous empty tables inside. That made me upset, but I didn't want to ruin a romantic dinner for my new husband and I. We walked back outside to our table and dealt with sub par service the rest of our meal. We ended up leaving about an hour later...HUNGRY!! Who leaves a Brazilian steakhouse hungry?!?
I was upset.... and hungry... and felt discriminated against since everyone in line behind us got to sit inside, while my husband had to sweat in a long sleeve button down, long dress pants, and dress shoes.
While we waited for room service to arrive, I called the concierge at Dreams resort. The man proceeded to ask me what we were wearing as that could have been the reason why we were seated outside. I was shocked at what I was hearing. I explained to him that we were appropriately dressed, having to go into details that a restaurant shouldn't question. We were then told that everyone behind us possibly had been waiting longer, and had a table buzzer in their hand. My husband and I saw no buzzer. Finally, the concierge agreed to speak to the manager of the restaurant and get back to us.
We heard back from him, but his response was pretty pathetic, and the way they would rectify our evening was inviting us back to be served by the manager. We had one remaining night at the resort and we weren't going to waste on being treated like 2nd class citizens. No thank you! read more
