Came here with my Colombian boyfriend to try authentic Colombian cuisine. He has been away from home for over a year now & has been feeling home sick lately. We got the Empanadas to start & ended up ordering a second serving because they were so good & fresh! Went for on Saturday afternoon for lunch, upon arrival we were seated in less than 10 minutes. The restaurant was busy but there appeared to be sufficient wait staff. Once we were seated we waited a while for our waitress to arrived and take a drink order along with our food. I was disappointed in how long it took for us to get our drinks. I ordered the Casona Burger Once our food arrived, I quickly noticed the burger was big, the patty was good but I was not a fan of the coleslaw that it came with. The bun on the burger made it almost impossible to eat without making a mess. The burger came with fries and I asked for the pink sauce to drip the fries in and a passion fruit margarita. The waitress took so long to come back with this. It was frustrating because there were about 7 tables to tend to and 5 waitresses so it appeared to be even. I looked over and saw most of the staff huddled at the bar hanging out. After it finally arrived the margarita was good and made with the right consistency of alcohol. Authentic Colombian food, my boyfriend is from Colombia and this is his spot. He goes here frequently and I don't eat meat so I never went. Decided to give it a try after actually traveling to Colombia and falling in love with the food. This place is very nice inside and also has a bakery attached. The servers were great. La Casona is definitely a good choice for Colombian food newbies or people that like more a Americanized feel, but in my opinion, there's much better Colombian food to be had. What it has going for it is a much nicer restaurant space that is large and airy compared to the other more run down Colombian restaurants in RI, an outdoor seating area when the weather is nice, its own secure parking lot and a fully stocked bar. The service has always been prompt and I've never had problems. There's a ton of TVs inside, so it tends to get crowded here when there is a soccer game on. Not my first choice for Colombian food in the area, but I'd come again on occasion for sure. Huge let down in service I ordered plate for take out a few days ago. It appears that the time I picked up my food was during one of their busy hours. The lady that was in the cashier seemed like she didn't know enough English. I paid my food and left to my home. I came to realize that they gave me a fake ten dollar bill when I went to Stop and Shop. I even verified it with the Citizens Bank inside the marketplace. I don't understand why a business would give a customer or anyone a fake dollar bill. This is illegal. I love the restaurants food but due to this issue. I grew up eating soursop fruit, so I love that I can get this drink here because it brings me back to my childhood. We go to our regular restaurant La Casona to watch another Colombia game and what was free entry every time til now is now a $20 cover and the best seats are VIP $50. AND you couldn't sit inside. So we're on metal folding chairs in the hot sun without a shade option watching a 50" screen through sun glare from 20 yards away. Last time we came we dropped over $150 on drinks, food and tip... This time... ÷=%€&% them. We paid the $40 so we can watch with country mates but refused to drop a dime more.
