I am also used to having some sort of spice or other sauce on the side to accompany and add to the fish if I want to spice it up - at least that's what I have gotten at every other restaurant where I have bought a whole fish. But alas, no such luck here. I was also disappointed with the presentation. While the rice and plantains were nicely placed in a to go container, instead of going the same for the fish it was simply wrapped in foil and placed inside a paper bag. Because we eat with our eyes (and nose) well before the food touches our taste buds, this wasn't great. Oh well...

Small dining area with a couple of tables. Primarily a take out establishment. The kitchen area is actually a larger floor space than the dining area so that means they prep and cook all day. Pretty busy the last few times I've stop by to pick up lunch on the road. That is a very good spot for a quick lunch and the selections are generally very satisfying. Definitely 1 of the better Dominican cafeterias around the neighborhood with a really good butcher shop next door and very convenient parking makes this an easy choice to make a break to Elwood Avenue so close to the the 95 exit. The bandeja paisa brings a litte bit of everything and it all was cooked well. The lengua sudada was very tender and flavorful and the yucca was soft, with the sauce it was in giving it a really good flavor. The res apanada was a bit tough and the breading did not stick on too well, but overall the flavor was good and the breading was crispy which I enjoyed. The best part of it all was the prices. It is very affordable and you will leave full.   The bakery is inexpensive and the items I have tried and good. They do have a large parking lot and it's free. While in the area, you could visit the Slater Mill (they have tours you could sign up for) or visit the public library.
