Recently, I was desperate after my MacPro was hacked by a scammer posing as a fake remote tech support person. I shut off my computer, went to Yelp and was happy to find someone who specializes in Apple/Mac. I then asked my La Canada Flintridge friends and one person endorsed him whole-heartedly. I called Jack and lucky for me he said to come over in a couple of hours. He has a nice, bright office next to his house, not far from the freeway exit for Trader Joe's. He's so easy to work with--smart, personable and clear. He knew exactly what needed to be done. I have a backup service, but having done a backup install before, I knew that would take days. Jack took care of everything and had my laptop back to me that same day. There is nothing like the security of knowing your computer is only in the hands of one trustworthy person instead of sitting in a backroom, handed off to someone you've never spoken to. Also, Jack is an authorized Apple tech and his fees are fair. He also helped me choose the right router (I was about to buy something I would have regretted). I have told all my Mac friends about him so I thought I should get around to posting here. Two things you should know: 1) Be sure to call first, he only sees people by appointment and 2) He takes cash and checks, no credit cards. If you have a Mac, this is your guy. read more

First things first, Jack at La Canada Computers is following all COVID-19 safety measures with contactless payment, hand sanitizers, and face masks. Make sure to book an appointment, in which he meets with you during your time slot, without any other customers walking in and out of the building. Jack was able to troubleshoot and fix my 2012 Macbook Pro, which has been going strong for almost 10 years! Recently, my keyboard started to have some issues, and I wasn't able to login because I couldn't even enter my password. After facing some initial roadblocks, Jack was able to diagnose the problem, and found a great software workaround that solved my issue completely. Most importantly, he didn't try to overcharge me, or sell me any unneeded parts. He was able to fix the issue simply through his wide knowledge of Mac computers and their components. He charged me a very fair price, and I will definitely be returning whenever I have any problems with my Mac. Thanks Jack! read more

Do not consider going anywhere else, Jack is the best. And he is an extremely nice person and a delight to work with.

Jack was fantastic! I took my laptop into Apple and honestly was a little iffy about the diagnosis they were giving me. Took it to Jack and he fixed it in a few minutes! Would have taken weeks for Apple to even figure out what was wrong with it. Jack really knows his stuff. He is very nice and most importantly extremely knowledgeable of Apple. Probable even more than their own techs. Thank you Jack! read more

Jack is simply better than anyone else. Responsive, reliable, honest in providing alternatives to fixing a problem, completely competent, reasonable rates and fees. What else can be said? He's a big gift to anyone who owns a Mac and needs, from time to time, to fix a problem or explore adding or improving features. read more

I am so thankful I found this local computer repair/restore business. I had several old computer towers sitting in my garage that I had no idea what to do with, but knew I had some precious photos I didn't want to lose. I contacted the business and spoke with Jack. He was very friendly, professional and honest. He said he couldn't promise me anything but to bring the towers in and he would see what he could do. I brought over my very old towers and and beyond thankful for his service. He saved over 20,000 photos!! Yes, over 20,000! I had no idea I had so many and now they are safe in my iCloud. His service was extremely reasonable for the priceless memories he recovered. I could not recommend Jack, his professionalism, or his business enough. Thank you for all your help and I will forever be grateful. read more

His business thrives on the quality and customer service, he's always very respectful. He always treats you like family and his prices are always very reasonable compared to taking your MacBook to the Apple Store. Thanks for the great service once again. read more

I came to LCC via a referral. I recently switched from a PC to Mac and needed my data transferred. Jack was always super responsive to emails and texts. The price to transfer was very reasonable. I was moving out of state, and asked Jack to ship my computer once he was done. I went to Fedex and paid for the shipment ahead of time, and he dropped it off to Fedex the next day. I have Mini Mac that broke for the first time after years. I must confess it was such a reliable machine that I forgot to back up my data for a very long time. Finally, the day that it broke showed up and I was so anxious about my machine. My mac was not booting up at all. I called Jack and he picked up my phone right away on Sunday afternoon. I dropped my machine and he fixed it the next day. What an amazing technician? Thank you, Jack. You save me and I am sure you are out there to save others. read more

I came across Jack's place on yelp because of all of his good reviews. I was a little skeptical because I am so picky but honestly Jack is AMAZING. He's so nice and so genuine he helped fix our laptop without a doubt. He was very lovely to talk to and told us exactly what the problem was and fixed it. Jack has phenomenal customer service and knows Apple products like the back of his hand. Do not waste your time going to an Apple store when you can go to Jack! HIGHLY recommend to all Apple users. Will be coming back with all of my Apple needs in the near future. read more

If you run into any problems with your Apple products, don't waste your time at the Apple store-- go to La Canada Mac!! I had been having issues with my MacBook Pro for many months and had set up countless appointments at my local Apple store. Each time, it was such a hassle to have to book appointments for later in the week for a problem that was happening RIGHT THEN.. Of course, as Murphy's Law would dictate, the problem would usually stop right when I got to the Apple store and the "geniuses" were never able to identify any issues. I honestly think Apple geniuses are wildly unqualified to be advising anyone on their hardware issues-- all they do is plug in an Ethernet cord and perform the most basic diagnostic tests... such a waste of time!! Anyways, it was after my fourth useless Apple appointment that I found Jack through Yelp. I called him in the morning and he set up an appointment time for two hours later-- immediate service without any unnecessary wait time? Sign me up! I stopped by and he was able to immediately diagnose the issue as a problem with my fan and said he'd replace the fan and have my MacBook up and running within 2 hours. Sure enough, he texted me to come pick it up in 2 hours and I was freaking elated at how my MacBook performed with absolutely no hiccoughs. It was $90 total for parts and labor, which is literally a fraction of what Apple stores charge... Trust me, Jack is a God-send and is truly the most efficient and knowledgeable Apple technician you'll ever work with. Here I was scared that my MacBook was going to explode on me, and he was able to not only assuage my fears but actually educate me on the issues at hand. It really blows my mind that the team at Apple was unable to recognize a problem as basic as replacing the fan... on multiple occasions... spanning a time period of one year.... Oh, also, La Canada Mac threw in a keyboard cover free of charge because he noticed a few of my keys were getting a little worn. Thank you so much for the quality of service, Jack!! read more

Absolutely amazing. Took us on just before closing time on a Sunday when no one else would answer, no one else knew how to use Macs. Basically every other computer repair "business" seemed kinda shady and unable to help. I explained we were in the middle of a recording session and really needed this computer so he helped us!! Not even two hours later and for a very fair price the MacBook is running perfect! I am so ecstatic and will definitely return. Thank you so much!!! read more

This business is a great find and such a helpful resource. Been spending at least a couple of hours a night trying to get all my new Macbook, iPad, iPod, iPhone to sync and e-print to run. Jack came over and had it all synced within an hour. As some items were downloading he explained useful features that I could use. He was able to really give me as much information as he could for the short amount of time he was here. He's extremely patient, very helpful and really knows his stuff. So glad I called him when I did. He restored faith in me that I can master the might Mac. Affordable rates, friendly service and extremely trustworthy. I will be contacting him in the future to resolve any issues I might encounter with the new additions to my Apple family. read more

It's hard to overstate how outstanding the service you'll get from La Cañada Mac is. Jack is more knowledgable than anyone I've met at a genius bar and simultaneously the exact opposite when it comes to attitude. He's honest, upbeat and positive the way a person is when he is doing what he loves for a living. In my case he instantly diagnosed my ailing 2011 MBP as having a bad video card then let me know that there was a recall available that Apple failed to alert us registered buyers to. Where other computer techs would have charged me a few hundred dollars only to send the computer to the factory to get fixed, Jack walked me through the process of dealing with Apple directly to get if repaired free of charge. This type of honesty is increasingly rare and speaks volumes about his ethics. Once the issue is taken care of, I'll be bringing my macbook back for him to upgrade. This is one of those times where the yelp stars are absolutely accurate. Don't hesitate bringing your mac in, I doubt you'll find better service anywhere else. read more

Great guy! Super helpful and knowledgeable. He gave me great information and my new computer arrives in a few days. He took the stress of purchasing a new computer away. Thanks Jack! read more

There is nothing worse than getting the screen of death on the Mac book. A spinning apple on the start screen. I went into a state of shock and panic! Everything I have is on my computer and of course not backed up. This is how I met Jack. Several apple computers later he is still my "go to man " for anything. Jack has been servicing my whole family and our computers for over 7 years now. What I really like about Jack is honesty. He always gives several options to fix my problem and he does not charge a premium. His rates are always more than fair and he goes above and beyond any expectations! Do not think twice about where to get your mac products serviced, you will be a customer for life ;) read more

My Mac Air was on the fritz and Jack worked his wizardry on it... Presto! I have a functional computer again. He was super courteous, knowledgable and taught me quite a few things as he did his magic. Thank you so much Jack! I will be sure to send anyone in computer need to you! read more

What does it say about a business if it makes you sign up for Yelp just to give a positive review? A lot, I came to Jack twice already in two weeks for help and he was generous enough to provide me the assistance I needed. I can't really tell you how much the service fee was but I can guarantee it was reasonable beyond doubt. Jack is such a nice guy, unlike the snobs at the Apple stores. Jack, Thanks for the great service and I will definitely keep on coming back to acquire your services in the future. Not to mention, I will definitely recommend you to all the Mac users I know in the Valley and Glendale area. read more

Now I know where the real "genius bar" is! It's in the LCF! I feel so fortunate to have found Jack. He is like a tech artisan, very thorough, reasonably priced with a very fast turn around. I don't know when it became the norm that the minute something goes wrong with a device you just replace it. I took my 5 year old Mac Book in with a DOA hard drive and now it is running like new. Though the old drive was not fully recoverable he was able to get it to go long enough for me to pull some much needed files off of it, I had not backed up. Great guy, great service... reminding us how much better it is to deal with actual people who take pride in their work, rather than big corporations. I am lucky to live close by but I would be willing to drive much further to have my devices serviced here. read more
