1/12/2019 We were exhausted from a long drive and didn't feel like dressing up to go for a dinner. My boyfriend went to get food for us from this Italian restaurant and brought it back to our hotel room. Absolutely positively the best spaghetti with meat sauce I've had. The meat sauce is just so amazingly devine. I wished I knew the secret recipe because my meat sauce never come out like this. I don't know how to describe the sauce but trust me it's good. I had never come across meat sauce like this before. Whenever I use tomato sauce in a dish , it comes out too tangy but not this one. Not too tangy but not too sweet . Not too salty and just perfect. There's a depth of flavor in theirs sauce I can't explain. The noodle was cooked to perfection. Totally al Dante. The owners came from Italy and they must put love in their dishes. Came with delicious home made baguette, it was still warm and nice crunch on the outside. The portion of the dish is huge!!!!! I'm a good eater but couldn't finish it. Came with a side salad. It's really a generous portion. My boyfriend loved his chicken Marsala also. Comes with fat fettuccine noodle and side salad. Bread comes with olive oil/ balsamic vinegar mix and butter. Wow, surprisingly bad. A while back I had to find a place to meet up with some visiting family for dinner, and I figured "you can't go wrong with Italian" -- you can. I had the shoe-leather veal and a glass of refrigerator aged red wine. The service was fine, but the place had all the ambiance of a dollar store, but darker and more cave like (they have moved locations since all of the yelp interior photos, so ignore those). Everyone in our party said they wouldn't eat there again, and we haven't. read more

What a find in Lompoc. Wife and I went there last night. A very authentic early American/Italian restaurant. Just the right amount of kitsch. Family owned, family operated, and it shows. Mama came by to check on us after sitting down for a little bit with her friend. Her daughter seated us. Her grandson waited on us. Highlights - homemade, warm bread with a perfect crust. Chicken Picatta - second only to my wife's. Pounded chicken breast, sharp sauce, perfectly tender. Special dessert - red velvet cake. Words fail me here. Mama made it herself, with her own two hands, from scratch. It made me nostalgic for my Grandma and all of her pies... I digress. The dessert was two layers of red velvet cake with a cream filling and light cream frosting, fresh local strawberries dot the top, and black cherries are scattered throughout the middle filling. The kicker though is the generous amount of Cointreau soaked into the bottom layer. That just put it over the moon. It was like red velvet cake meets tiramisu meets spumoni. Simply perfect. Went and tried out La Botte on Saturday, April 7th for my Aunt's birthday. I've lived in the area for about 3 years now and always heard great things but never went. So for the special occasion we decided it was time to drive over and try them out. Loved it! Everything was great from the quick hostess acknowledgement, to getting us a booster for our 8 month old, and just over all service. When i was about to order 3 orders of their garlic bread for the table our server suggested we start with just 2 servings and she was right. Between the table bread and garlic orders we would have been fuller then we were when our entrees arrived. I ordered a large pizza for the table, while everyone else ordered a different version of their fettuccine plates. One with mushroom, one with chicken, and one with sausage (custom) and all were spot on to perfection. We couldn't handle dessert and got lots to take home for lunch the next day. This might be my new favorite restaurant in town, we will be back! read more

La Botte is a very 'homey' restaurant, with 'Mama' making sure you're enjoying yourself and filling up on as many carbs as possible. She isn't letting you leave unless you are over satisfied and over stuffed. Service is usually excellent, (can be a little iffy if you go there at busy times) with the servers being knowledgeable about the menu items. Very flexible, as well. You're only real choice for Italian American food in Lompoc (not counting pizza) but that's okay because it's good. I doubt it's going to win a Michelin star or anything but it's consistently delicious and the service is excellent. I've been there at least a dozen times and I'm always glad I went. If you go around 7pm on a Friday or Saturday you may have to wait. Also, it's not cheap. You have to pay for quality. read more

Not sure what's going on with La Botte these days. Here's my experience tonight: 1) waitress obviously overwhelmed and lacking any type of support such as a buser but very kind 2) we sat outside- recommend they clean the patio if they want to sit people out there, 3) we were told the patio heaters were out of propane but the people sitting next to us were able to get ours started without an issue, 4) husbands sausage was dried out and obviously reheated. So disappointing- La Botte support your wait staff and up the service. Until then, we won't be returning unfortunately. read more

Visited Lompoc from Orange County to attend a large birthday party here, and the restaurant was more than accommodating. I shared an extra large pizza with meatball and ricotta cheese. It was excellent!! Looking at other peoples' plates, it seems the serving portions are huge as several people were leaving with to-go boxes. If I ever come back, I need to try the chicken parmigiana or the pastas. The family that owns and runs this establishment is super friendly, accommodating, and has excellent customer service. Sometimes change isn't for the best. We've been to the new location several times now. We don't live locally so we drive to eat here. We had newly discovered the old restaurant and loved the food, the service and the old style ambiance. Sad but that's all changed at this new location. Wait staff are perhaps lacking experience and it shows. Recently there was a horrible smell. Perhaps cleaning supplies? It permeated above anything else and wasn't pleasing for a eating experience. The server almost set another parties food on our table and then proceeded to do the same with our food to another table. Not ideal coming out of this Covid situation. Perhaps ask the table if the order is theirs before passing it by faces. But above else, the food is not the same as it was before. At least not to us. Bagged salad is never a good first impression.
