Ryan is a magician. I got a 90 minute bodywork session about a week and a half before my fist Hyrox race and he was able to work on some of my problem areas like my calf, hips and glutes to get me race ready. He spent great amount of time also working on my shoulders and neck that are all tight because of my outrigger paddling. This is not a spa massage but is truly bodywork that helps work out the knots and tight areas of your body. He really listens and can also help educate you as well. I wish I would've known about this place sooner. My friend referred me to LA Bodywork last year when I was training for an Ironman 70.3. I was desperate to find relief from all the training I was doing. I had no idea just how much I was neglecting my muscles. I saw Lisa Marie a couple times before my race, and I felt the amount of work she did eased my worry of getting injured. Fast forward to now, I've been seeing Jolene while training for my first ever marathon. I knew it would be hard since I'm new to long distance running. There's no way I'd get through the amount of miles I have to run each week without getting bodywork done. These ladies know their stuff. Cannot overstate how amazing LA Bodywork has been for me as I try to heal from chronic pain. I've done two sessions with Lisa Marie, and they were profoundly healing. I'm one year into my journey with chronic neck pain, and I wish I had found this work sooner. I've tried everything--chiropractic sessions, acupuncture, massage, medication, physical therapy, new mattresses/pillows, the list goes on. This has been the most healing for me of everything I've tried. (For those who are new to bodywork, it feels like a mix of physical therapy/mobility work and massage...and also like a therapy session, but more on that later.) I'm not pain free yet, but I do feel like with some more bodywork sessions I'll be on the road to recovery. This work has also been emotionally healing for me. In my first session with Lisa Marie I ended up sobbing unexpectedly. She did some work on my psoas (hip area) and we discovered a lot of buried emotions there that she was able to release. After each session, I feel quite fatigued and emotional because this work really does release a lot of tension and stress. I wish I could give them 10 stars. Lisa is one of the best bodywork specialists I have ever seen, and I've seen a lot. She takes the time to get to know your body and what you want to work on a given day and then she gets to WORK. I'm sure she has many different areas of expertise, but for me this is closer to the best parts of manual work with a great PT than a light massage. Lisa incorporates many different disciplines (scraping, cupping, deep tissue work stretching just to name a few) and the result is always simply feeling better. Since I started seeing her, some of my life long injuries have gotten better or gone away completely, and I always leave feeling lighter than when I walked in. Had some bad sciatica pain and decided to give LA Bodywork and therapist Ryan S. a try. Ryan was professional and knowledgeable. He addressed my issues and made me feel at ease. He thoroughly explained his approach and why. The appointment was an hour. Ryan did not rush , and was more concerned about treating the issue than the time. A friend of mine from my gym referred me here and so I made an appointment and went. I unfortunately hurt my back during a weightlifting move I've done over and over again, but being "in my 40's" I guess I have to realize I'm not a spring chicken anymore. Anyways, fast forward two weeks and my back is still super tender so I made the appointment to go see Lisa Marie. She assessed me and asked lots of questions before getting into my treatment. She did an excellent job stretching me out and really getting in to the tissues and those tight spots. FYI: this is an extension to their other location in Studio City, but the same awesome therapist. It is one of the hardest things to find an awesome person who can fix up your back, shoulder and whatever else is in pain. I've seen several chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapists over the years and never have I had someone been so caring and attentive. Firstly, I came in late because of distance and traffic, but LisaMarie was super understanding and made me feel welcomed. She took time to have us sit down and listen to what I needed and she provided me some corrective exercises and recommendations on how I can improve my mobility and strength. IMO, this was crucial to help her assess what to do and how much pressure I can take. During the manual work when she was pressing away on my shoulder, she hit everywhere and although I had no idea what she was doing, she definitely knew what she was doing. I came out of there being able to move my arms pain-free, my neck had more mobility. I can't remember the last time I felt like this.. I called my wife right after to make sure she comes and sees LisaMarie as well. If only I was closer in the area, but I'll still be back to have her work on any pains I have in the future. read more

I have been seeing Lisa for over 5 years now at her Studio City location and she is the best in the business!!! This is not your normal massage and she can pinpoint the issues that stem your pain. I usually come in for low back pain but she starts working on my hips and opening them up which relieves my back pain. Lisa knows how to ease the pain in your body and recommends exercises/movements so you won't feel those pains again. Lisa started with an assessment on me where she asked some questions then had me do some movements while she identified where the source of the issue was. Truly fascinating process! She then developed some homework for me & then proceeded to the BodyWork Massage to help break up any scar tissue & begin the healing process. Not going to lie, this part isn't the most fun but it gets the job done. She used trigger points & other therapeutic techniques over the course of our session all focused on the area we were trying to heal.
